I love mine so far. I just bought it for fishing. Flew it in 20mph winds...no problem. The users manual is pretty cheesy for the price of this drone, cannot figure out course lock or home lock. I have been taking out some big baits, no problem at all but it does burn through the batteries faster. Got mine with the DJI iosd, I use it to monitor battery level. The battery level on the controller always seems to read half no matter what. I hope Ideafly reads this so I can get a little support. But bottom line ..I am happy with it, drops baits and returns home.

Add a Gannet release tho the Phantom or for that matter to the Inspire 2 and you have a full on fishing drone. The Prop screw was discontinued by DJI on the Phantom 3 level as it was unsafe, it was found that the props unscrew themselves during rapid maneuvers like during a sudden stop.
When calculating the weight, you must think of the bait as well as the lead. When shark fishing, you will be using all its lifting capability. Great video. Thanks for the review
I have used a Poseidon 480 for more than a year after watching this video. Only downside is that I have never achieved 25minutes flytime. But then I do use it exclusively for fishing.
This one cannot beat Swell Pro one at all. Swell Pro way far bettern in camera, flight stability, and design. But Swell Pro pricing way overshot my head.
Awesome review. There is a drop mechanism available for the Phantoms, it’s called the Gannet and it was developed in South Africa. I have to say the drone is a bit heavy especially for SA conditions where you not allowed too drive on the beach.
i'm in france. i'm a problem for initializing compas on the poseidon 480. In the box, there is a cable with male connector 3 plugs and a boucle cable between 1 and 3 it can connect to the same femelle connector near the battery emplacement : what is this cable ?

If there are hawks or falcons in the area, what can be done to help protect the birds from prop strikes ((back))? Is there a strobe that can be turned on to discourage birds from investigating these drones? Would a strobe help you find the drone in the air if you looked away for a moment? Thanks.

You are most welcome RL. Normally I would be tearing up some fish in the surf but, that day I was distracted by filming the video and making sure the drone was working efficiently and safely. Now I can take her back out sometime and see how far out I can get a line. :)

You would have to add a GoPro to it. It only comes with a 5.8ghz camera setup. Which is low resolution for recording videos. To record you would need an external DVR that records 5.8ghz video. Not the best for making videos.
I have watched the Pacific Ocean swallow these like fish food and at night the distance to surface measurement mode is worthless. Plus in a fifty or sixty knot wind it’s toast. Good luck. Peace Christo
Is there a weight release rating for the bait release as well? Most fishing drones have 2 weight capacities, the weight of payload that the unit can carry & payload release capacity of the release mechanism itself. This was by far one of the best intros on fishing drones i've seen by far. Wasn't even aware that a unit like this one existed. Huge size difference compared to the Phantom. Hopefully there's a backpack case as well? Thanks!
ROCK ON, I started about the same time...well maybe a year or two later. my first kite was a wipika freeair 4m for training and it drug my ass along the beach LOL. then I moved up to the trusty Naish X2's and we thought those things were safe HAHAHA...not by todays standards.

2:03 wait, so the battery is twice the size of the Phantom 4 and lasts 20 mins, where as the Phantom 4 gets 30 mins. Ok....

Poseidon can carry max 1.2KG bait for fishing. Don't worry
