- UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres speaks about record temperatures.
He announced that the era of global warming has ended and “the era of global boiling has arrived”, after scientists confirmed July was on track to be the world’s hottest month on record.
“Climate change is here. It is terrifying. And it is just the beginning,” Guterres said. “It is still possible to limit global temperature rise to 1.5C [above pre-industrial levels], and avoid the very worst of climate change. But only with dramatic, immediate climate action.”

Record temperatures my ass. It’s well known the planet was 2 degrees warmer around the time of the Roman Empire. This is scaremongering on a Daily Mail scale.

They have started to measure the temperature at ground level, instead of 2 mtrs above ground level. WHY?
It’s always hotter/cooler at ground level (season dependent of course)
The ground heats up then radiates heat. It means they can claim record temperatures. In a few years they will start recording in direct sunlight instead of ambient shade

that will be because weather patterns that have been in place for a long time have shifted, weakened in some places, strengthened in others. your typically warmer summers are somewhere else now, warmer even than you would typically have experienced.
