Thank you Jesus for your sacrificial love when you bore our sins in your body on the cross so we might die to sin and live to righteousness. 🙏

The focus is on Christ's HUMANITY- "We see Jesus". This is key to the mutual PARTICIPATION that these verses allude to- He in our humanity and we, in His life !! All this He has Achieved as a Man !! So mysterious but so wonderful !! And how? By means of His atoning death and sufferings, His exaltation and High Priestly service today, etc. as A Man !!
So as to attain the positives-including being sanctified to be part of God's family and enjoying the world to come; then the negatives- victory over the devil and bondage to the fear of death, etc. Let us not lose focus on the process God uses to achieve His eternal purpose which we can glean by careful study of these precious verses. Let us not neglect such great salvation !! Amen.
Very insightful teaching. More grace, dear brother.,

HEBREWS 2:7,9 WHO*,(MADE)* JESUS A LITTLE LOWER THAN THE ANGELS ? REV.1:5 & 3:14 SPEAK OF JESUS AS THE FAITHFUL WITNESS. .WHO WAS THE BEGINNING OF THE CREATION OF GOD. COL.1:15 THE FIRST*-BORN OF EVERY CREATION. EVEN BEFORE ADAM - PROV.8:22, AND GEN.1:26. "LET US* MAKE MAN. ." LORD BLESS YOUR STUDY OF HIS WORD.

God didn’t have to die for our sins. Paul explained this well. Jesus was called the second Adam. Just as by one *Man* death entered the world, so by one *Mans* eternal life.
Idk how much more clearer it could be said, obviously Paul thought a “Man” was enough to atone for the sins of the world. The notion that God had to dies for our sins is the most baseless claim, and totally unbiblical. God can just forgive man, that wouldn’t even make sense.

    Hello
Nobody in scripture goes around preaching “God be a man”
    Jesus is the Messiah
    The Son of God
    The Son of David
    The Son of man
The man God has chosen to be his anointed king
The man God will judge the world through
The man God raised from the dead
Jesus will return and rule the nations with believers in the kingdom of God on the earth
    Jesus has a God
There is no triune god in scripture
Jesus said the Father is the only true God!
    John 17
3 And this is eternal life, that they know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent.
    -
    Acts 3
13 The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Servant Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied before the face of Pilate, when he had determined to release him.
14 But ye denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted unto you,
15 and killed the Prince of life; whom God raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.
Notice Jesus is NOT the God of Abraham
13 The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Servant Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied before the face of Pilate, when he had determined to release him.

Hey friend, you mention the Son of man as a title, that’s an interesting one. Have you seen where that title comes from in Daniel 7 by chance?

      Hello
      Yes
Where the Son of man is presented before God (the Ancient of Days) and is granted authority and a kingdom
Son of man means human being
And in Daniel 7 Son of Man is a representative of the people of God (saints of the most high)
Dan 7:27 where it’s the people of God who are granted the kingdom

@@mitchellc4 I see your point. I wonder what Son of Man meant to 1st century Jews though? It seems from Mark 14:61-64 what this title meant to the Jews. What are your thoughts?

Son of man means human being
That is not a disputed thing
The claim about Son of Man seated at the right hand of God seems to refer to the human being who is exalted to God’s right hand and given authority (Daniel 7)
Jesus saying he is going to be exalted over all and be judge of the religious leaders would not be something they would like
      Claiming to be the Messiah

I don't see any "God became man" in Heb 2:9 - 18 - that is bizarre. I do see Jesus being a man here - just like you and I - including an explicit statement that He is created.
Dever has provided such a poor exegesis - including completely missing the point that "family" - which he so greatly emphasized - is NOT EVEN IN THE TEXT!! But this man did not bother to spend one second in the Greek. Shameful.

He clearly did say that it’s “not family but of the same” and to see that God became man see the rest of the Bible, which helps us to understand verses 8 and 9 which state Jesus became a little less than the angels, “became” or in the Greek “having been made lower for a little while” would be better. Critique if you will but at least listen to what the man is saying.

Because that was not the point. That point was made elsewhere in the Bible. Here, Dever just talked about why Jesus - elsewhere called God - became man.
