In this video, Sam James and Save Us Service, Lead Technician, Callum take a look at a machine that they don't get to use often. The La Marzocco Linea PB is a favourite of our team. A client brought in the most premium version of this machine, the Auto Brew Ratio (ABR) for service. Callum and Sam go through all three modes this machine can do by utilizing the scale function on the drip tray.
Modes:
PULSE: Will dispense the amount of water you set.
MASS: Will continue to dispense water until the output weight you set is achieved on the drip tray scales.
AUTO BREW RATIO: Will weigh your dry coffee dose and automatically adjust the water so you your output will match the recipe ratio you set to your machine.

I like the workflow with scales when I'm dialing in a new coffee. Setting a target weight for your espresso is easier and quicker than converting or nudging pulse targets. When you haven't had a coffee in the morning and you want the machine to give you 40g instead of 38g, it's so much easier to just set that parameter vs pulling a shot onto a scale, stopping it manually, then remembering the pulses and entering them into the firmware.
