Download both Versions of the Command Station
Microsoft Store version and Astos Verson.
Update with Microsofts First, Once it seems to not update further closeout and open the Astros version, Start the update again until it completes.

I spent 4 hours trying to troubleshoot this problem and never knew how simple it was thank you kind sir
Just FYI anyone else trying this. This did ALMOST all of it for me so MUCH appreciated. HOWEVER. Mine actually updated the Base Station from the Microsoft Store installed command center, and not the headset. Headset still was saying either nothing or 0.0 and would fail 100% of the time. I had to do the dang holding "Game & Dolby" reset fix on my headset and then command center could see it and I could fully update the firmware successfully, from the Microsoft Store installed command center again. Thanks again Cooliyo3000 you got the ball rolling for sure for me! Hope this helps anyone!
OMG TYSM YOUR THE ABSOLUTE BEST! My Astro A50 has been unable to function for the past 2 YEARS. I'm so glad I found you or I would've bought a new headset. Like you said in the beginning, I also contacted the support center but it has been almost a week now and still no reply. Not only have you made my day, but my whole winter break. Y’all are goated the issue really is with the Microsoft store version of the app, the older download I found on Reddit worked first try and everything is smooth again. Y’all just saved me $300 and a hole in the wall
Thank you so much for this. I spent days trying to find a fix. Astro themselves got tired of trying options and told me to just send in for warranty… Works better than ever now. Goes to show you how little they know about their own product.
How did you open the other website?
Remember they were bought by logitech, so the ppl that created the unit are since long gone. Best bet is to sell your astro and stick with sony's stuff.
For me I just needed the microsoft store app. But whenever I tried to update I would get stuck at 33%. I then hard reset my headphones by holding the "dolby" (discord icon looking thing) and on the right of the headphones the "game" button. Hold it until it resets. After I was able to do the update. After the update whenever I picked up my headphones all the lights on the base would disappear. Next I reset the base. If you look under the base you can find a small hole. Press it with a toothpick or something like that for about a minute then put your headphones on the base again and pick them up. For me this worked. Thanks to reading different comments and trying all the ideas I was able to figure it out. Hope this worked for someone else.
This worked for me after 3 hours of trying everything. You have to download the base station update from clicking software on their site and using that command center, then you need to do the headset update on the microsoft store version of command center. Worked!
Anyway you can share the download off the website because they removed it permently moved it to windows store smfh

Same as another commenter here, Windows Store force updated the base unit for me, but was failing on the headset again and again. I hard reset the headset with Game+Dolby for 30+ seconds, then hit update firmware again, placed the headset in the dock, and it worked. Thank god.

Alright to anyone this isn't working for. If it's failing to update at 33% or 50% from the microsoft store what you need to do is have your headset on the base station and hold both the Dolby button and the "game" button on the front of the right earmuff. This should hard reset the headset, and then you should be able to update it from there with no issues!
So my headset wont even allow me to hard reset, or plug in via USB... its been like 3 days with no fix it sucks.. if anyone can help, pls let me know

Took me two attempts but it did in fact work. This was by far the best tutorial to actually fixing the headset. i didnt even know they required updates to both the stand and headset.

I followed your same instructions by plugging the headset into the PC, followed the steps you outlined, and then disconnected and re-plugged it into the PS4 was solved. Thanks so much bro everything worked out. Downloaded the Microsoft version of Astro Command Center. Updated firmware (failed 2x). Attempted to factory reset headset by pressing game button and eq button while on charging base (failed). It finally worked when I took the headset off the base and performed the reset and then attached them back to the charging base (while still having the command center for Microsoft open). You will know it worked because the your headset's LEDs will come on. Then googled the download for Astro command center and downloaded that. Performed that update as well (if there was any). All good. THANK YOU ALL. Every ones comments helped!

For those experiencing issues with the charging station not powering on, I noticed a little tiny whole under the base and I inserted a little needle inside the whole for a full minute and after plugged back in and it worked!

insane how microsoft commandcenter is different to the other program called the same. It finally worked. I had this problem a while ago and actually destroyed my basestation chargepoint by taking the cable in and out too many times. Bought a new base station and had the same problem as before, now it works thanks to downloading the app through microsoft store as well as the other app.

Having same problem my base station is updated but my headsets will not update stays stuck at 33%. With no lights working on headsets
@@Johnnzpuchi hey hey, so i re downloaded the software to my pc, unplugged the entire set then plugged it back in, ran the update from the software and they have been working ever since!
I updated my base station using the app downloaded directly from Astro to my Mac, I opened my Windows virtual machine and updated my headset using the app downloaded from the Microsoft store. It worked! I guess I'll just keep them separated to know which one I'm updating lol

Thank you dude the astro command center from the microsoft apps area (the Microsoft bag icon thing) works. I didn't need the other astro command center from astro website the Microsoft one updated both the headset and base station. Thanks again.

Except i had to use the version off the Microsoft store. I basically had to jump between each version and just kept re trying the update. Eventually got it. Also some other guy said try updating from a laptop not a desktop

Xbox guys listen up. This won’t work on just Xbox App Store. Download the command center on a laptop. Plug your base up to it and do the same steps this guy says. Worked for me.

a simpler stress free step is , take the headset of the base hard reset the hs with holding down the dolby and the game button on the earcup after 30 sec release , connect the base again with your game pc , download direct on microsoft website the command center , put headset on base , start up enb update ..... done , it worked for me

Mannn I tried resetting my headset and base station like 10 times a piece. Glad I found you vid. Deff worked but I didn’t have to go to the Astro site for the base update I just had 2 on the command center app.

Think I had the same issue but this method didn't work for me. (Quite possible I had a different issue though as a lot of people seem to have been effected by this and had this method work!)
What got it working for me though was resetting the headphones by holding the Dolby button and the game button on the side for 25-35s to reset the headphones and going through the latest update firmware a few times. Hope that helps for some people :)

Legend! My headset has been dead a few days, and i actually saw a post that said use the app, but it slipped through until i saw your video. After no useful fix from support tried the app and fixed them immediately.

So initially I was trying to update the headphones on my mac via the command center from astro's page, but it would fail to update everytime. Then I read a comment that you had left someone saying you used the windows store not the google play store so I connected the a50s to my work PC and used the command center from the windows store and it updated in a second and worked!!!

I couldn’t get my Astros A50 to even get recognized at all by my series X. I updated it via command center through the google store, not through the website to update the base station. I wonder if that was the problem? I returned them, and got the Arctic Pro Wireless but still want the Astros. 😩
Worked for me updated both headset and base if you need to reset headset if it’s stuck on a orange light or no light at all press the adobe atmos button and game on the side of headset for 15-30
This saved me so thanks a ton! I was able to get the updates to about 79% before they would crash. Weird that you need to use the web app and the local app of control center but hey I’m happy it worked!

I was thinking I'd finally have to replace my 2019 headset but this 100% fixed it! its called bootloader mode when it gets stuck like that with 1 and 3 then 2 and 4 lights flashing. thankyou. Just dealt with astro support telling me my headset is broken and that is needs warranty replacement. FUCK THAT. Reddit and google was absolutely helpless. Someone linked your video. thank god i clicked it. My headset wasnt even showing lights and my base station only showed the pc light. such a pain in the ass that they couldnt fix this stuff by gen 4 and now gen 5 has the same issue.

Thanks for the help it actually worked out... i had a diff. case will write it down maybe it helps someone... i tried both astro centers to update the firmware but at the end i could only update my base station, the headset i couldnt. It was full dead it didnt even show its charging or how much the battery is on... i tried to reset it pressing eq. and game on the station... didnt work, took the headset off of the station pressed the same buttons so it reseted when i took it back on. Then i just used the microsoft app command center to update the headset. Boom worked out. Cheers!
