    Er war so großartig! Er müsste zehn Leben leben um uns allen wieder Musik zu lehren.

    The choir is fabulous... of course the orchestra VPO is. Loved this.

    Wonderful! Ingenuity and joy. We need musicians like Harnoncourt. The soprano is amazing.

    Absolute genius conductor,,he knows it's impossible to reach what a composer intended but you can try your best which will always be an approximation....

    Eine tolle Probe, gefällt mir! Außerdem; endlich jemand der Haydn dirigiert! Das ist leider selten geworden!

    9:14 “Gehen Sie weg von Dotzauer” is I think what Harnoncourt meant. Dotzauer was famous for having composed etudes for the cello, sometimes laborious for the player.

    4:04 Die Aussage wundert mich. Bachs frühe Toccaten z.B. unterscheiden sich schon deutlich von späteren Werken.

    The English subtitles are done in a rather wrong way. For example "Dotzauer" is a famous author of excercises for the cello. How on earth you can translate that with "offended" ? 9:14

    • @DavidAlexanderRahbee
      @DavidAlexanderRahbee Před 5 lety +3

      Exactly. Also when he says Bravi at 26:38, they think he said "David". Not a well done translation overall.

      The subtitelist probably misherad "Dotzauer" as "todsauer"...

    Das was er mit Papa Haydn und früherer Interpretation meint ist genau das warum ich Haydn stink langweilig fand. So wie er und spätere das machen ist es spannend ohne Ende.

    • @lucybuonasera8862
      @lucybuonasera8862 Před 3 lety +3

      Ich denke haydn ist alles anders als langweilig. Alle Komponisten sind langweilig wenn sie nur mäßig gespielt werden

  • @benjaminjohannessanchez3310

    I have a Classics teacher who is alike in attitude... she has the same look of slight insanity on her face as Harnoncourt, as well as being in the possession of extensive knowledge of her subject...
    One simply has to know these rules, these customs, the history. Observe and master.

    Pr Harnoncourt said that every language has a rhythm, but what about Swahili language? It seems as if he contradict himself, when he compared later after, when the Chor was playing Da da da...I don"t know what he was thinking about Swahili language

    • @olafo6563
      @olafo6563 Před 6 lety +5

      I believe, he meant nothing really. He also didn't really want to discriminate. It was meant as a joke, invoking some exotic language that most likely nobody in the room knew anything about. We cannot ask him anymore how he meant it.
      He gave the world of music so much. If some joke did not work out too well I still gladly forgive him. Thank you Niklaus Harnoncourt and may you rest in peace!

    • @parzenbua
      @parzenbua Před 3 lety +2

      I think he meant that there is rhythm in language itself. And swahili? Of course it has its rhythm.
