I love my automatic button hole foot. It sure makes things a whole lot easier.

Thank you for showing both sets of hash marks on the buttonfoot. Other videos omitted the inner hashmarks on either side of the needle opening in the buttonfoot. I found that this detail does make a difference for where the buttonhole begins and ends. Also, the actual instruction manual for my machine says to "hold the top thread" and doesn't say if it is just in the beginning or for the whole process. It is very vague. I tried your method of pinning the top thread under the left side of the buttonfoot and it worked like a charm. No holding necessary. Perfect. Your video was very helpful.

This is so timely! I haven't made a button hole in a few years, and got frustrated with not remembering how I could make a button hole for a domed button. Thank you so much for reminding me that there doesn't need to be a physical button in the foot! Off to finish my project!

Clear explained, I didn’t know that the green lines on the foot is meant to line out your buttonholes. Great to know that

My janome Atelier sometimes screwed up the buttonhole. I bought an extra for it - a stabiliser plate - whuch seems to have fixed the problem. I wonder if I've paid to fix a design problem. My other tip is to do the buttonhole as early as you can, to avoid having a large amount of material going back & forth.

My first machine came with one of these feet, but I've only just gotten to learning how to use it now that I have my second machine. Thanks for having such a clear and straight forward video for me to follow along with! That giant piece of white plastic was thoroughly intimidating to me up until now. Watching the machine just go on it's own is kind of incredible.

Thank you for this video! For anyone with a Bernina Virtuosa 153, the instructions in the manual for the autobuttonhole foot are incorrect, so here's how to use it in case it helps someone:
    1. Attach your automatic buttonhole foot (mine is 3A)
    2. Choose the buttonhole stitch (on my machine it's button No.9)
    3. Press the 'other' reverse button - NOT QUICK REVERSE as it says in the manual. There's another reverse button towards the top of the machine that has both the reverse symbol and buttonhole symbol.
    4. The words 'auto' will flash on screen to show it's now in auto buttonhole mode.
    5. Once you're finished your buttonholes, press CLR/DEL to clear all the programmed measurements.
Thanks again for the helpful video Tova!
