Failed TV Pilots | Ep. 2 | The Adventures of Superboy (1961) **60 year old fail**

- So many successful super-hero shows have come and gone, but how many were failures? More than you can imagine, I imagine!
Here is but one example, the 1961 The Adventures of Superboy! A great attempt but somehow didn`t land. Let`s take a lookie-loo at why!
1st (unofficial) Live Appearance of Superboy! Unofficial, because it wasn`t aired.
Major Superboy fan as a kid, and never missed a George Reeves Superman episode (in reruns), so I know I would've been glued to this has it been a series. It also helps that the Superboy actor actually can pass for a young George Reeves. I like to think in some parallel universe this ran several seasons.
I hear ya! I thought it was great. Some rough spots, but, for a pilot, it was awesome. They could iron out the kinks. I think I’m going to have to buy that book that has the 12 written scripts for what the show was going to be. Best we can do in this reality lol 🦸♂️

Thanks for The Adventures of Superboy review. Too bad the 1961 pilot was never broadcast & the series not produced. . .might've done well, had it not been rejected.
Of course, 62 years later, there are some outdated aspects of this pilot, not to mention unrealistically absurd by today's standards. 😆🤣🚀🚀🚀
My pleasure! I’m still surprised it didn’t get picked up, if only for one season , woulda been nice! The SuperCave scene where Clark hard core ignored Lana so she would leave….that scene still doesn’t sit right with me lol not sure how they would constantly do that moving forward because if I was Lana, I would be pissed! 😝
Superboy's costume needs a good pressing..
Not the wrinkle-free Kryptonian fabric I guess lol. I do like the slight change to the S Cresta the top of the diamond more straight up than angled. Looks hip
The Aero Theater was played by the Aero Theater in Santa Monica ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aero_Theatre ) which is still there.
That's pretty cool! That theatre has quite a few roles by the looks of it :)
