This is one of the only two Tornado Emergencies I've ever heard in 40 years. I quite promptly shit myself upon hearing this, since I'd heard it in OKC before. Half the people in the house didn't know what it meant and thought it was a Tornado Warning. I practically had to football tackle people into the basement in time, yelling at them that this particular alert meant we were going to fucking die above ground. Thank God, the tornado missed my cousin's house, where I was visiting, but I absolutely scared the shit out of my kids. They've been in tornadoes and know that "the time to panic is when Momma panics." They'd never seen me panic like that before, or since.
this was terrifying for me, i had literally just move to beavercrek ohio from florida that week so i have never been in a tornado before and i lived in a top floor appartment. i remember crying in my bathroom on the phone with my mom freaking out and asking what to do. it ended up destroying the houses down the street from me and my appartment had very little damage
Never will forget this night from Trotwood. Super scary. The weird thing was in 2020 we had another tornado come through Trotwood, luckily not nearly as bad. I’m just wondering when this area suddenly became tornado ally!!
I live in summit county. We rarely get any bad storms here. It’s like all the bad storms take a detour around the Cuyahoga valley area like we’re an obstacle in its path.
Used to live there as well, you stay long enough you'll see something happen, believe me, I lived there for years and you will get something at some point.
Here in Parma which is in Cuyahoga County, we got a tornado this August but not quite as many as the Northwest this year. The frequent problems were just severe thunderstorms here that damaged trees and power lines.
VideOH Don’t worry, it’s an audio recording that I overlapped onto footage because the original video I recorded was interrupted. Luckily I had the NWR App that I could record the audio off of.
I lived in Brookville Ohio, near the EF4 we didn’t have a basement and we took shelter in our bathroom. Scared me so bad. luckily didn’t hit us. I remember our NOAA weather alarm going off. It felt like hell. So glad it lifted before it hit us.
Holy poop I actually got a TORNADO warning like this from jonesboro yesterday on my Midland WR-400 it was crazy in Arkansas and in Dayton during the tornado
i know the alert was real i was tracking the storm so this isnt me claiming fake or trying to hate or anything. but why is it just a video of the radio with an audio overlay of the actual alert?
wolfepup02 What happened was I got a phone call from a telemarketer (unfortunately) in the middle of recording the alert. I always keep my NOAA Weather Radio App going during severe weather, so I recorded it on there and edited the audio onto a silent recording of my radio.
wolfepup02 Yeah! I’m glad I could at least do what I did. The telemarketer call really made me mad. But I got it with all three Header tones on the audio. So I’m happy!
Fwiw, my mother was in Xenia for that F5, and she never ever fucked around over a tornado warning. Neither did I after an outbreak in 88 or 89 when I was five, in Springfield, OH. My kids know that if I freak out, it's *time to freak out.* And I don't freak out unless it's on top of us or I hear a Tornado Emergency alert --or only heard two in my life. This one and one in OKC. Scared me shitless. Glad I wore the brown pants.
MykEASLover39 YES. It is real. The reason the footage doesn’t match the audio is because the original video got interrupted by a telemarketer (unfortunately) so I went on my NWR app and recorded the audio then put it together.
@SPCHighland248 7 months late but in other comments the creator said he got a call in the middle of it so he had to edit it together, plus if you dont believe him you could probably find another video of it or use a website.

I’m glad you narrowly escaped unharmed. That was a crazy night for a lot of us.
I live in Ashland county and was watching videos at the time sitting in bed and this warning scared the crap out of me.
Oh I’ll bet! It was a scary warning to witness and catch!
PDS Tornado Emergency. Miraculously, no one was killed by this tornado. RIP Hara Arena.
That day still haunts me today. I don't like tornadoes at all. But they are interesting. At least everyone was ok.

That’s true cus the storms wekan from valleys
I live there now, and I can confirm. Severe Thunderstorms don't happen too often here, but we get at least one tornado warning every year.

This hits deep now. Almost 2 years ago as of making this comment.
I’m from Delaware and I believe there was a tornado warning that same day for Delaware so I had to experience it a little bit.
I remember this day very well. I was in Ross County (I wasn't affected by any TORs), but still I couldn't fall asleep until about 1:00 AM.

I still remember hearing this at night when spectrum used to have the local weather channel with Doppler radar on all day
I’ll bet. It was quite a night. Spectrum doesn’t have it anymore?
That's kinda scary I would have been like 6 years old
