  • The Indian Rupee are some of the most incredible and beautiful banknotes in the world. The new(ish) series each feature Gandhi on the front and a UNESCO world heritage site on the reverse, except the 2000 which features the Mars Orbiter Mission.

The new series also has a 20 rs note which features ellora caves in the back and looks similar to 200 rs note and all of the notes in new series is supportive for blind people as they can read the denotions on the right side of it through braile
The old series consisted of 5rs 10rs 20rs 50rs 100rs 500rs and 1000rs . But the 5rs is rare nowadays and much before that (in late 1900s) 1 and 2 rs notes were in circulation but they are extremely rare nowadays . The government has also launched 1rs 2rs 5rs 10rs and 20rs coins which are in circulation and 20rs is very rare to obtain . In the olden days there were paise coins similar to cents but they vanished and are not in circulation anymore. The government has also launched numerous stamps coins and notes which were ornamental and not meant for regular usage to signify an achievement or to honour someone or something. For eg they have launched a 1000rs coin to denote 1000 years of Thanjai periya Kovil in 2010
