    While not as amusing as the shaving in a suit video, I think you should make this a running gag. I want to see Kirby brick-laying in a suit and tie!

    As a northern, working class man from England, I love these videos. Even though you appeal to the upper class, I/we still have fine garments and love these tutorials. I know you love London but you really should get to Manchester Kirby…. It’s the capital of the north, with fine, upstanding people (a lot more welcoming them southerners). Keep up the good work mate

    Frankly, I use a washing machine. I have a Miele with the wool program. I use a mesh garment bag to wash with the lowest spin cycle speed. I also dry on a towel with an additional step. I lay out the sweater on a bath towel flat, then I roll the towel with sweater inside, to dry it a bit. Then I use another towel to lay it out flat again. Been doing this way for years and it works well.

    I'm knitting high quality garments and I use very expensive yarns and I'm afraid to harm my knitwear, so this video was really useful for me. I learnt to take care of the sweater if I don't have time to knit the same sweater again. Thank you dear Kirby for great videos. I adore you honey!

    I have a device that looks like a mini camp bed with a mesh like material that you can spread jumpers out on, very handy. The obvious reverence for your grandfather's garment, good to see you still taking care of it. By the way, your wedding ring was particularly shiny today.

    When I get to the point of the rinse, I change the rinse water a few times. After the rinsed sweater has been on the towel for about half a day, I change out the towel to a dry towel.

    In the UK our front loading washing machines have wool and silk setting. Essentially mimicking a hand wash.
    Never had an issue. I'm wearing a knitwear jumper today that's 15years old and still looks new.
    Just use non-bio detergent sparringly and no fabric softener.

    I do not know what is considered a high quality knitwear, but i bought a fairly expensive wool sweater (at least expensive for my pocket, 130 euros) from Camel Active store. I put it in the washing machine and set the program for wool and sensitive. When it dried the day after i noticed especially on the sleeves that some parts of the wool kind of came apart, like chunks of the wool rolled into balls. Did the washing machine just ruined my new sweater? Should i revert to only hand washing it?

    • @lullemans72

      creme surfine is just shoe polish man. it will recolor and slightly condition the shoes, whereas renovateur adds no coloration to the shoe but nourishes and moisturizes it instead.

    • @kirbyallison
      @kirbyallison  Před 2 lety +4

      Something we probably didn't make clear enough is that you should only expect to do this once or twice per season. You generally don't want to launder premium outerwear every time you wear it, so once you've completed one or two rotations through your knitwear collection, then you can plan on spending an hour or two washing all of them at once.
