Either it was an afterthought, or it was one of those things were there was the base PS5, and they found out and perfected it, how to make it better later on. I dunno, I'm not an expert

That's a much better size for the console, hopefully the ps5 Pro doesn't end up been like the og ps5 and is a slim and pro...doubt it tho
because they used a more advanced chip and it requires less cooling and space for the cooler. also engineers can improve upon their own designs after a while. same with steam deck -> steam deck oled. even though same specs basically, its vastly improved inside
It’s because the smaller you make a part the more expensive it costs to make the system so they make them as small as they can for $400-$500 and then when the parts get cheaper as the years past they can make it for the same price alittle bit smaller as a refresh 🤨
Disc drive for PS5 slim is removable and it also needs internet connection in order to work (at least for the 1st time setup), for those considering ps5 slim for more storage that already owns regular PS5, consider buying NVME instead of new console, both PS5's have NVME socket as well as external drive support. For those that don't have PS5 and plan to buy one I'd say go for whatever fits your style and budget.
Buy the NVme drive that is 2TB or Above
From what I hear the disk drive needs to connect to the servers periodically, not just the 1st time.
It's a real game preservation issue, because once those services stop, the drive will be useless.

To increase the quality of these types of videos i think you should do a couple of things, first find a table and sit behind it while reviewing and unboxing, with camera stand on opposite side that you move with hands once you start to unbox, it makes it look better than unboxing on bed, next you should have strong lights around so the camera gives better picture and that's pretty much it, for me it's better at some table and good lightning.
Your every video is calming and makes me feel like im chilling with my best friend and having a time of my life no matter what we are doing.

Great video Patrick. The slim model will be a little easier to travel with when you fly to see your family in NY. I use the USB-C port in the front of my OG PS5 to charge my headset. I just bought a short little USB to USB-C adapter cable. Works really well

The Ps5 OG is the best and what I mean by OG is the original build that was being made until 2 years ago which is when they changed the build

Awesome unboxing video of your PS5 slim. To be honest, the slim model looks actually good to me. I know for some people they have their own pros and cons of what they experienced about it. It's nice that it's been initially released just before and it comes with a game bundle. I got the original standard edition and so far it's been good as it's the model I prefer.
This was a really good unboxing. I watched another one where the guy complained to go horizontal you have to buy a stand for extra. Never showed or mentioned the clear legs... I only heard about them in this vid
10:03 The PS5 slim has the USB type C. The old standard usb was replaced because USB C is now the new standard + it's used on every devices.

If you've got the $200, the Edge is definitely worth it. It comes in its own case with a lot of ways to customize it. I got it because I got unlucky with my PS5 controller and encountered stick drift.

$200 is crazy... For that price it should have 4 back buttons. I’m still using a ps4 controller with a 4 back button attachment. Stick drift can be solved if they used hall effect joysticks but they won’t solve it because they want you to go and buy a new controller. It’s all about money

I think the 2 transparent slaps are the stand holders to keep it from overheating its if you want to keep it horizontally instead of vertically

The disc drive for the slim has to be registered to it because if you don’t you won’t be able play disc so you have to do it when you set it up
I'm just gonna stick with my regular PS5 now because as cool as the PS5 slim looks and how it works, I don’t see any point in getting it since I already got it last year and I have an external hard drive. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is an amazing game and I've been having a lot of fun with it and I hope you have fun with it, too.

If it’s just a smaller version of the PS5 then it’s not worth buying as a replacement. As a starting point for next gen gaming then that’s different.

They discourage backside charging, hmm? Seems like they still haven't figured out how to stop the melting USB issues then. I really don't know why they didn't just give us 2 of each port on the front with the 2 in the back as backup or gone in its entirety because of the issue with the back ports being melted over time.
I recall the PS4 having two usb ports on the front, as my PS4 is right in front of me. It literally completely avoids any major heat with the USB ports in the front!
They evolved the design into something that had never been, and probably shouldn’t be.
@marakalos3838 the PS4 is somehow the better console outside of performance and memory. The UI, the controller (I've had lots of issues with the touch pad and bulkiness), QOL like contact lists in your friend list, better hotbar menu, etc.
@@troypowers750It reeks of forced obsolescence to push the new console. Performance and memory are the only plus, whereas everything else is somehow worsened.
I know it’s the way of things but I want to go to PC again and run emulation to play modern games so I don’t have a fire hazard.
@@troypowers750 I was quite jealous of the performance in the first few weeks of the PS5 but the rest of the console is either the same or a downgrade in some way from the PS4, many of the new features are gimmicks that need a PS+ subscription.

You’re not wrong about MW3, I bought mine from a GameStop and they didn’t have any Spider-Man 2 bundles in the slim, they did have it in OG ps5 models but they did have the MW3 bundles. I actual bought an OG version I really wanted a game to start with and not COD and they’re pretty much same specs. The only real plus really is 825 gigs to 1 tb but I plan to put an extra stick in anyway

Thank you for asking this bro. I was literally wondering the same thing lol. I just asked him in chat hopefully he sees one of our messages. Been waiting for someone good to do a playthrough of the Metal Gear Series since the Master Collection just came out. On another note, if you happen to own the Master Collection for PC, how do you fix the save game file problem? Every time I call Mei Ling to save my game on MGS, it gives me an error saying that it failed. And even when it says saved, I'll open the game later to find out it diden't save.... Do you have a fix? Also, for some reason it tends to quit randomly? Is there a fix as well for this?
@@AirinWesley unfortunately, no I don't how to fix the game file problem. I'm playing MGS on the PlayStation emulators and the Master Collection has a lot of errors I heard before. Only the PS3 and Xbox 360 ports are the most stable version

If you look at the ID on the back of your controller and if it ends with letter A it means its new and improved and its got less chances of getting stick drift, i had mine for over a year now and i still dont have the stick drift. But if it doesnt end with letter A and its just a number then its the older version
Pro maybe use a tripod and better camera for the unboxing so the viewpoint is higher
And a table for display his consoles.

8:31 USB-A 2.0 , Since USBC is more Common Than Before , there is no reason to ship with USB-A 2.0 , also the front USB-c port on OG model are USB 3.1 , it will be great if it is a Thunderbolt port
LOL, short answer - Nope! The new Disc Drive requires online “pairing” before use via Sony's Server (DMCA Protection) feature just like Microsoft has. If there is a problem contacting Sony's Server and it can't pair then you get that error. Your now dependent on Sony having those Pairing Servers for the drives to work. :(
The new slims eject button is definitely better, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve accidentally put my PS5 into rest mode when I’m trying to eject a game, I always mix them up.

Great watch. Its a nice mid season refresh. But basically redundant since its the same specs as the original so if you have the original PS5 theres no use switching unless youre doing it for pure aesthetics. Coz the detachable drive for instance seems like a nice touch but inconvenient if something ever goes wrong with it.
*Coz like many noted, if someone is looking for space it's much easier to grab an external SSD or an SSD to install into the console and store all your PS4 library on that while you keep whatever active PS5 games you have on the main storage.
*Basically worth it if you don't already have one but if you have one you might as well keep the original until it dies or the new generation comes out and you sell it.

I'm surprised the PS5 Slim is already out, thought it would be next year they'll releasing it, but they have to get those Christmas sales i guess, right? Its a matter of time before we get the PS5 Pro and the PS5 Super Slim before they start or enter the PS6 life cycle, right? Also, did not know the PS5 Slim is already out because there's market advertising where i am and thats mostly because GameStop is no longer around in my country, no game store except for Cex or toy stores, but also other retail and super stores, so yeah
I mean this gen is three years old now so its not that surprising.
I’ll go one further, if you don't have a ps5 and you can get the standard one get it over the ps5 slim, when you can't get standard ps5s anymore because all stock has been replaced with the slims get ps5 slims. You'll thank me later!
2 issues most will likely encounter is what we saw even in this video at 14:52 where the system locked the player out of their own game and they had to verify the drive, despite the fact they would have already of verified the drive to have played the game in the first place and the second issue most will likely face in the future is problems with over heating.You're welcome!

Looking good as always! There sure seems to be a lot less hype for call of duty now. It's not like COD is anything new or exciting, it's usually the same thing. I think people would much rather have DLC than "full games". They don't really even change anything anyway.
Anyway, I bought a PS5 this year and there's no way I'm buying another one. I always thought that if you have the base console, the next models aren't really worth it. I would have kept my original PS3 forever if I could have. Now if you don't have it yet, the newer model is usually always a little bit better in some areas. It seems more worth it for new customers.

The disc drive you have to register it via internet on first boot (so they can stop piracy) and disc drive is removable and processor as far as i know is same but I've heard reports saying that ray tracing is software based rather than hardware based
