Chaos as London Bus Driver Randomly Terminates Service on 18 (Featuring Mad Passengers)

    After spending almost 10 minutes at the driver change at Willesden Junction, we were told to get off prior and change to the bus in front. Then the driver says that we can stay on. We get to Knatchbull Road in Harlesden where there was a loads of traffic. It was literally a 6 way traffic system. We were stuck there for 45 minutes. Then, as I think that this day's service could not get any worse. He chucks us out at (North Circular Road) in Stonebridge Park without informing us. I can understand why passengers were mad and pissed off. I can't lie, the operator London United need to pattern up the service of this route otherwise they gonna end up losing this route in November, just as they are doing with the (N)266...
    This bus was (VH45245) BF67GNN.

    I had the same issue on the 492 where the bus terminated at the middle of nowhere yet being on time

      @@LJ07EBP It's operating garage (Park Royal - RP) has lost a significant amount of routes within the past year alone:
      H17 - Metroline (Sept 2023)
      223 - Metroline (Oct 2023)
      228 - Metroline (Jan 2024)
      All three routes were in the same garage and they all moved to Willesden Junction (WJ).
      Then last week in June 2024, 440 was transferred to Stamford Brook (V) Bus Garage from RP. (Basically to cover up for the 211 loss)
      And then now 266 & N266 are changing operators to Cricklewood (W) Bus Garage in Dec 2024.
      That would make 6 routes within the space of 15 months.
      Which is why I can see why RATP would defo lose the 18 & N18 this year.
      4 months left up until its contract date 09/11/2024.
      So I think the garage would shut down.

    I'm sorry that u had to go through that man.
    I suffered something similar when I was trying to do a visual on the route but the bus curtailed due to traffic and it was annoying.
    RATP don't deserve the 18 beyond tender renewal

    Aren't the routes given to the highest bidder, not the company who provides the best service? If they can lose routes for bad service then that's great I really want to see Metroline take this route

      From what I heard, it's whoever bids the least amount of money takes the route.
      But anyways, I hope that the 18 goes to Metroline.

    Honestly metroline can deal with passengers and crowded buses much better, though the driver doesn't choose if buses get terminated, the garage tells them.

    RATP need to up there game. The SL10 route should not be more frequent then the SL9 as the SL9 is a more important route. A 266 at Brent Cross wasn't seen for a very long time. And the 18 itself needs some improvement even if its a tricky route to run.

      Very True. The SL10 doesn't even reduce overcrowding on the 183 between Harrow & Hendon.
      The 183 still gets very overcrowded & The SL10 is still primarily empty on the top deck.
      The SL9 needs to have a PVR increase especially during the peak times. (7-10 mins)
      The 18 used to actually be good with frequency and PVR back in 2015 when I used to ride the route a lot. The longest that I would wait for a bus between Sudbury & Stonebridge Park would be 6 minutes. Now, I'd be waiting 15 minutes for it....
      As with the 266, I don't usually travel on it that much although I do sometimes, but I'd say that TFL need to increase the PVR also because it is the only route that goes from Willesden Junction Station to North Acton directly, excluding the 487.

      @@jtransportbuses Yeah the fact that they reduced the 183 pvr for SL10 is such a bad decision. I found SL10 quite useful for getting to North Finchley this week but I need to wait so much longer for 183 now

    its not even the drivers fault, i dont get why passengers freak out. The driver doesn't choose to suddenly go where he wants, their garage tell them
