    1:50 - 2:10 Fitting the engine under-tray
    2:15 - 2:20 Ensure that all hoses are securely connected. Great idea! Except the under-tray is getting in the way now. Because instead of showing which other hoses to disconnect, you've shown us the most challenging task: refitting the engine under-tray before finishing the job.
    This video only tells you to drain the old coolant and fill the system with new one and that you'll need to disconnect and reconnect some hoses; you already know which ones, that's why you're here. Oh, and don't forget the engine under-tray!

    My mind was blown! There is a Retaining Clip! Yay!
    I have been trying to remove the weird hose clamp which is impossible to grab from above with any pliers in my tool box.
    Thank you for showing that there IS a Retaining Clip. I have never seen this on any car ever before.
    Who'd a thunk?!!

      After pulling the Retaining Clip... the Hose Fitting still would not slide out (like in the video, SO EASY!). So, wiggle wiggle wiggle for 20 minutes. Sprayed it with some Blaster penetrating fluid, sprayed into the slots for the Retaining Clip which gets it into as close to the O-Ring as possible. Wiggled the Hose Fitting some more, it finally budged enough to get a slim blade in between the end of the Hose Fitting and a ridge on the radiator neck. This allowed me to pry a bit and the Hose Fitting slid off.
      Note: There are alignment ridges on the radiator neck and matching grooves inside of the Hose Fitting. So twisting it is impossible and will risk breaking the radiator neck. The Hose Fitting will only slide straight out, it will not twist. So when you are trying to wiggle it loose, use a rocking motion for the best results.
      On my car there are two (that I found) of these Hose Fittings with Retaining Clips. One at the top of the radiator and one at the bottom. 2015 VW eGolf.
      I lubed the O-Rings so next time this should come apart much easier.

      That's one thing I hate about German brands, they really are over-designed. There's always a little issue that is unnecessary because they just HAD to mess with a part that doesn't need this or that changed. I seriously think I'll dump German brands permanently next time I need to buy a new car.

    I agree with some of the other comments on here about this not being the most ideal method as it does not evacuate all the coolant. After trying it myself I got 1-2 litres out of that hose on first attempt. However after subsequent retrys, refilling with water, running the engine, pulling the hose off, it does allow you to extract more of the coolant that has circulated. Not ideal and very time consuming. The compressed air method sounds like the one to use if you have the kit.

    Thanks for the great and informational video! You mentioned there were multiple hoses, do we have to flush out the coolant from all hoses? or will just the one you pointed out work? Thanks!!

      This procedure pretty much matches that described by VW, so it should do the job.

    Is there an engine block coolant drain and where is it located?

      VW don't describe a cylinder block drain plug for these models.

      @@HaynesManuals how would you get the cold coolant out of the engine block?

      @HaynesManuals  Před 2 lety +1

      VW don't describe a block drain plug because they specify 'lifetime' coolant that never needs replacing. However, if you must drain the block, disconnecting the radiator lower hose, then raising the rear of the vehicle should drain almost all of the coolant from the block.

    En los motores actuales del grupo vw hay que purgar el circuito de refrigeracion con un equipo de diagnostico por el puerto obd. si no lo haces puedes provocar el quemar junta de culata. no me convence este video.

    This method is completley incorrect. It needs to be vacuum bleed!!!

      Ideally yes, but we did this in the workshop and it worked fine.

    • @jsplasha
      @jsplasha Před 2 lety +2

      Its not only incorrect, it's so much more work, makes a huge mess, gets coolant everywhere, and doesn't flush the system at all. You can do a complete flush properly without needing to lift the car off the ground and without spilling coolant everywhere.

      @@jsplasha I’ve just actually started this job today. I do have a vacuum and an OBDeleven. The closest menu option I could find is an output test - radiator bypass change over valve.
