- Today I’m going to show you guys all of my Beatles and Paul McCartney related films! I hope you enjoy, and let me know what some of your favorite Beatles/Paul McCartney movies are! :-D

My daughter and I about 5 years ago went to an artsy theater and saw Yellow Submarine on the big screen! It blew my mind and hers! Don’t tell anyone but I had tears a few times during it!

I watched Yellow Submarine updated version yesterday (haven't seen it since I was a kid on TV). Amazing audio on it, and the colours are so vidid. They did a great job on it. I grew up with the original album in my parent's collection

Great video collection, Katie. You're absolutely right about Their First U.S. Visit film. It does give you the feeling that you're right there with them (cinema verite?). It's one of my favorites, too. I love Help, as well. There are so many sight gags and jokes (usually delivered ever so dryly) in the film that I enjoy immensely. Example: when the Beatles are in the pub and George quips "I'm always getting winked at these days. It used to be you, didn't it Paul?". And by the way, you are far from being annoying; just the opposite. 🙂Your infectious enthusiasm is a pleasant alternative to some of the rants on some channels. Keep it up and good hunting as you build your collection.

A Hard Days Night has to be my favourite Beatles film, in fact I saw a special screening of it at the cinema on the weekend.
But Help is just as good and funny!

I have got that copy of Help! but I also have the Blu-ray issue which I think came out in 2007 and has been remastered as well as the deluxe DVD that came out at the same time and includes a load of extras including a script of the film with annotations. It does look a lot better than the 1997 release. The Ed Sullivan shows include a certain Davy Jones before he became one of The Monkees. He's playing the Artful Dodger in a performance of the Broadway cast of Oliver. As a Beatles fan you will probably enjoy the Neil Innes / Eric Idle spoof of The Beatles called All You Need Is Cash. It follows the rise to fame of a band from Liverpool called The Rutles, the Pre-fab four. Neil Innes' songs are so good you would think a lot of them actually were Beatles songs. George Harrison is in the film as a reporter and there are various cameos from Mick Jagger, Paul Simon and a few others saying how The Rutles influenced them.

Aww, thank you so much! ❤ A lot of the films I’ve found were at used books/movies/music stores, or I got them for my birthday. Pretty much all of them are used, though-you can find better deals that way, I think. I hope you’ll get your hands on some of them soon! And thanks for watching! :-)

I have quite a few dvds of various concerts and tv appearances. I have the D.C. concert on several, a favorite. I also have one with the Around The Beatles tv program with various songs but the most fun part is when they do the skit from A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Also have one called Ladies and Gentlemen...The Beatles. It is 4 dvds and has just about every major television appearance they made. One other good dvd box is The Beatles 1 with all the promo films they made. I have vivid memories seeing the promo film of Strawberry Fields Forever and Penny Lane back in the day when they were brand new songs. And yes I did see them on Ed Sullivan in 1964. I'm showing my age but it's nice to see younger Beatles fans like yourself keeping such great music alive. Keep it up!

Very impressive and pretty neat stuff. If the universe would allow a proper release of Shea Stadium '65, I'd probabky jump on it. To echo previuos sentiments, I definitely recommend The Rutles. It's right up your sense of humor alley 🙃

@@katiegl YES!! If I said it was electric - that would be an understatement. The screams, the flash bulbs and the girls fainting and trying to rush the stage....... One of the greatest moments in rock history.

Growing up my favorite Beatles films were “Hard Days Night” and “Let it Be”, but of what you showed I think my favorite would have to be the Ed Sullivan one, which to me is so fascinating the way it puts the Beatles in context with what was going on around them in the media and pop culture back in those days… Back in the “prehistoric” days of VHS tapes (1980’s) there was a documentary video called “The Compleat Beatles”, (correct spelling) that I loved and probably was the first comprehensive video on the subject of the Beatles but it seemed superfluous once “The Beatles Anthology” (highly recommended) came out in 1996. I don’t know if “Compleat” is even available anymore but you definitely would enjoy it even though “Anthology” is probably the definitive documentary. As far as Paul goes, his concert video called “Rockshow” filmed during the 1976 Wings Over America Tour, is - in my opinion, the best McCartney video. Nice video, thank you for sharing…

I really hope Paul puts out GIVE MY REGARDS TO BROAD STREET on Blu-ray as part of his Archive Collection! Also, I recommend the Criterion Collection version of A HARD DAY'S NIGHT Blu-ray/4K when you're ready to upgrade from DVD. They really did an amazing job with the film and bonus features.
They restored HDN back to the way it was shown in '64,except for the UA logo at the beginning.They should've included just for historical reasons.😊

You’ve put together a nice collection of Beatles and Paul McCartney DVDs. I really like Hard Day’s Night, Help!, Yellow Submarine, and the McCartney concert DVDs. I have to try to find Beatles First US Visit. You’re Yellow Submarine set came with some nice extras that I haven’t seen before.
Many commenters have recommended the Anthology DVD set. I will as well.
I also recommend McCartney’s Rock Show DVD set for the Wings Over America era.
Also, George Harrison Living in the Material World video by Martin Scorsese is very good.

There are a couple of films I'd recommend: 'The Space Within Us' concert from Paul's 2005 US tour. Then the 1978 fictional film 'I want to hold your hand', a coming-of-age comedy about a group of teenagers on a mission to see the Beatles on their Ed Sullivan appearance. Great fun, and captures the spirit of Beatlemania really well.

You've got quite a DVD collection here! 😉 I have the same box of "A Hard Day's Night", and my "Yellow Submarine" cover looks exactly like yours, only it's the DVD edition. 🙂 And of course, you know about me having "The First U.S. Visit" as well. 😅 This actually reminds me of a video I uploaded two weeks ago, only I showed off my DVD collection of "The Swan Princess". 🦢 I even showed off some games I got for my birthday, which is today, in a video I uploaded a few hours ago. 🥳 Also, I have to consider "A Hard Day's Night" and "Yellow Submarine" my favorite Beatles movies, because I love a good comedy/fantasy. 😊 Oh, and when you showed a picture of the "Yellow Submarine" book, I happen to have one, only it's a different cover and shape. 📖 This is the best video you've ever posted so far! ❤️

Amazing collection katie! My favorite movie/documentary of the beatles is Get Back such an amazing documentary i remeber that i saw it when i was discovering the beatles for the first time, it was amazing. Now i wanna watch the beatles Anthology

Awesome collection! I think I might still have the Yellow Submarine and Let it Be VHS tapes at my parents'. How I watched those when I was a kid... Time flies. Ahh, the Paul McCartney movie! Also watched it as still a kid. Right now I'm trying to save to purchase the Magical Mystery Tour deluxe boxset (Blu Ray + DVD + 2x7" EPs). Try to look for "The Beatles Compleat", a great documentary narrated by Malcolm McDowell (might also still have a VHS copy at my parents').

I always liked Hard Day's Night and Yellow Submarine. The Anthology documentary from the 90s was good and I loved Peter Jackson's GET BACK. If you like spoofs, there's THE RUTLES ALL YOU NEED IS CASH from the 70s, a mockumentary of a Beatles-like band with Monty Python and SNL people and cameos from George Harrison, Mick Jagger, and Paul Simon

Hey,Kate-get on that album.I had over 70 bootleg DVD's of all the interviews,some complete concerts,including the '64 Washington,'65 Paris,and the '66 Budokan,Japan ones!!Hollywood Bowl,Australian(5hrs of footage)Amazing stuff out there.This was before You Tube had the footage available.Even had the cartoon series with the intros and outros,which weren't shown on MTV in the '80's,just the cartoons themselves.I had to get a separate comp set to get the intros and outros.Had the Shea Stadium ABC presentation(beautifully restored)from Jan.'67 airing.Saw those cartoons on Sat.mornings on ABC as well.Check it all out,Kate.

I agree Red Square, stop start sort of, but it includes a second performance at St Petersburg which is less fussy (think). As an acted drama Backbeat captures the Hamburg thing well and the band it puts together is stellar, they're not messing about with their covers. I'll seek out Back in the US now.
As for Yesterday I'm thinking would it be worth colliding with a bus to be given a Martin: ooh dunno.

Good Ol' Freda...Nowhere Boy (a film depictin' John's early life as a Beatle with a fantastic recreation o' their first time in a studio recordin' In Spite O' All The Danger.) Paul McCartney-Unplugged...Imagine-John Lennon 'n The Beatles Anthology.

Have you seen the 2009 film Nowhere Boy? I watched it last night. Story of John's upbringing up till 1960, when they went to Hamburg. Things I never knew. 😮

I’ve got the 3 disc DVD set called the McCartney years. It has more than 40 music videos and over 2 hours of live performances.

I prefer whichever one I am watching at the time. I can never decided then I hear "The night befoee" and think Help is the best. Or I hear "If I fell" and I love A hard days night and want to be in the Everleys.

Katie, no Magical Mystery Tour?! I know it was widely panned at the time, but like Paul said, it's the only footage anywhere of John singing 'I Am the Walrus'. It's not terrible, and it is footage of our boys. You can put it on your bucket list. Take care my friend and Beatle on! 🤠

You really should get the Peter Jackson Documentary Get Back, but Katie get the Blu-ray version because the dvd version is poorly packaged witht the discs on top of eachother. Also you get some cool pics in the Blu-ray version

When I saw him in Missoula montana there was a mom and her daughter who held up a sign and Paul called them up on the stage and the sign read please autograph the back of their shoulders and the next day they were gonna have a tattoo artist tattoo over his signature , I think that's cool....
