I've seen him at least three times at Carter Baron,in DC. Once i got to dance with him and meet him backstage. He is so beautiful and humble. Just a gracious human being. I will always LOVE him. Right now--- Covid19 pandemic. I need his LOVE to remember who I am.😁💝😍😳

Wow...I haven't seen parts of this show in about 30 years. My father videotape the entire performance when it was broadcast on one of the PBS affiliates in DC back in '83 (most likely WHMM-32 from Howard University). That was my introduction to Leon Patillo and it was just before I really started to learn about Al Green's secular career. I was born just as he reached his secular peak, but by the time I reached an awareness of who he was, he was at in the midst of his gospel career. We had the secular albums around the house, but I only thought of him as "Rev. Al Green." What I always remembered about Al's performance was that bearded, jheri curl wearin' drummer GETTIN' DOWN. The standout performance from this show for me, though, was definitely the Mighty Clouds of Joy. I was always appreciated their old-time gospel sound mixed with an upbeat groove. Those guys never put on a bad performance...EVER!
