I have over 22k hours on EQ 1 with 2 accounts. I started back in 2000 Multiboxing with 2 pile of junk computers with dial up. Was the best freaking time of my life. Thanks for this video, i was wondering what the state of EQ 2 was. Subbed. My all time fav is Enchanter + Cleric combo. Can pretty much farm anything.

Thanks for this man. I always tell people about how good EQs class system was and when I tried EQ2 for the first time I was impressed but a little overwhelmed lol.
Oh yeah you're absolutely right :) I like the EQ1 classes more but I think tanks & healers were done better in eq2

Had my fun with EQ2, but I prefer old school eq for gameplay surprisingly, I don't mind having tons of abilities/spells but it gets a bit ridiculous as you level up, the cooldowns are short and you find yourself spamming a million buttons every kill to get maximum potential out of your class, but I'll admit it was fun leveling up the classes and trying different builds with AA's and housing and what not also flying/gliding/jumping mounts are a nice hit of dopamine that EQ1 doesn't provide making the "world" around much more fun to explore and easy to get around
Oh you're right about ability bloat. Late game is too crazy with stats & stuff to click

I greatly appreciate you giving EQ2 some time in the spotlight. It’s not the best, but it has some unique elements that truly sets it apart. The lore in EQ and EQ2 is amazing. The classes in EQ2 especially in the current “end game” have so much more utility than they did before. If you take the time to learn the class and set up proper macros any class can obliterate mobs or tank ;p. Thank you again! Happy hunting!

As a guardian I got a World Discovery for the master skillbook for the lowest level Hold the Line ability. I was the only Guardian in the game that tested all of the old abilities to look for a glitch. And I found one. I pulled Agro on a world encounter and survived for a full minute with no Healers. This allowed one of the top raid guilds to recover and finish it off after I died. I got a Guild invite
Obviously I'm bragging but I think it's an important thing to know about the game that there is several hidden things that requires testing for a player to be good in eq2

I appreciate this video because I have SOME interest in jumping into the next EQ2 TLE server, but was pretty overwhelmed by the number of classes and didn't understand what they all were. This helped.

For what it's worth, every class has access to stealth at level 30 with [Totem of the Jaguar] (a fairly cheap consumable that Woodworkers can make), so for anyone who's considering a class specifically for that just know it's not a huge deal. In a lot of cases, it's actually better for individual group members to stealth themselves so that the entire group isn't revealed when 1 person does something to break stealth.
It also might be worth mentioning - with regards to the dps meta - that aoe (area of effect) damage is pretty highly valued for heroic content, especially going into EoF. This puts Swashbucklers and damage-speced Shadowknights inline with summoners in the T1 category imo. If you like to top zone-wide parses those are 2 great classes to do that on.

When I played years ago monks were the best raid tanks there self heals were beyond anything until sk got its massive buff

My favorite is shadow knight. I even got a 90+ shadow knight sarnak as my main character I love to play as.

Gratz on the baby! Had to have a laugh wondering...Does he punish himself if he takes too long changing the diaper or failing to figure out whats wrong to stop the baby from crying? By the time the kiddo is 5 he will be making demands that dad must fulfill fast enough or he gets punished! lol

Although I played EQ2 back in the day, I do not think I would ever go back to it. Vanilla EQ just has more soul. EQ2 they tried too hard to bring QOL from EQ1 but failed. Locked combat, classes in the end are more similar than EQ1. Also items were way more interesting in EQ1 and iconic.
You do bring up some good points. I do like the class-changing items in eq1 & how classes weren't diluted

Assassin's are great in the MT group on raids as they can transfer a percentage of their hate to the MT. That tank ain't ever losing aggro. At least it was like that when I used to play.

What is the best non scout melee dps? I want to dps on a monk or berserker but this is all off tank shit.

there are generally 0 berserker spots in a raid. Can't really tank the bosses don't even begin to compare to any dps class. not sure why tank dps came up so much. it's not a matter of importance. you'll use that pally or guardian at end game and that's it outside of group instances.
I getcha there. I've only seen 1 berserker since I played & now it's in alt-hibernation
I tried, i listened, but i still can not go to the second eq.
great video, helped me a lot, take lots of pictures and time to play with them, you cannot go back and reroll later like in EQ2.
when it comes to the baby class, you can (not 100% and not always works) solve the smelly nap sack issue by making sure to "burp them" and by that i don't mean the old pat on the back thing, but bouncing helps by moving their guts around a bit, that's almost exclusively the reason "baby bouncers" exist, you can let them bounce themselves but they are kind of terrible at solo content! definetly bring a tank and a healer with you at all times like large pillows (guardians) and thick blankets (berserkers), any healer will do as long as they have a heal over time!

My monk had higher mitigation than my guardian in eq2, monk was by far the best raid tank at the time, not sure how it is now.

@@IonBlaze1 ah ok. Essentially EQ1 Beastlord though reliant on pet more for certain skills only pet can do. Can also have more than 1 pet BUT only specific creatures in specific groups (canine, aquatic, etc) can be a pet. I had one for about 85 levels. Pretty darn fun

I was an endgame Raid Assassin from Launch until I left for good a few years ago. The first 4 expac made this the beast game ever imo. Smedly ruined it with the cash store. Micro-transactions killed this AMAZING game. I have life long dear friends because of EQ2, I still log in from time to time.

druids are just as important as clerics? no raid even starts without at least 1 inqui. clerics are lowest dps? i've seen an inqui top a dps parse before, never seen any other healer in the top 10.

Check out EQ2Emu - it's a work in progress, but the dev team seems active. There's even a dev server you can join to help them test things out.
I started playing this again last week and decided to go with the classic Wizard class and im really enjoying it! I'm not sure how long the game will keep my interest as the game seems to be almost dead and barren of actual players
The good old Raid in KoS zone...that was my last expansion,after that only sadness but until today i love and miss the EQ2 2004,better game (exept the bugs) better graphic (bad engine),better crafting.
I never found an MMO to play after EQ2 vanilla,I try a lots but they boring me (not the old MMO's)...I miss so much EQ2 and I wanna play so badly but not how it's evolving.

The races and classes are the best thing about EQ2 the rest of it sucks badly.

So I spent most of my time playing as an Inquisitor and I was ok with it's design but I never felt like a player I felt like an object that had the best spells the best armor stats etc etc.This area of design actually went downhill as SOE started cutting costs in design and wanted a lazier approach so they turned all gear into STAM +one stat idea.
BOSSES ...there is a HUGE massive dependence on gear and spells you can move to having ZERO chance to win the battle if not for your gear.This is a huge fail in rpg's design that never got better it only got worse.
Oh the EFFECTS within th eEQ series I never liked them.VERY short timers which only encourages button smashing ...NO ..hell no.
