The closest to this LIan Li case is 08... That is definitely a beautiful case, but with a price range x3 times this one... So nope... And InWins glass cases is a glowing hotbox... But in the end it all comes down to personal preference ;)

^I think he means like sealing the PC tightly and make it a decorative piece but also a working PC.For this you also need some stuff that won't fit very nicely if you have an open top tank.You need to tube the PSU fan,to cover up all the ports and every single itty bitty hole there is.It's tideaous but it would look nice.Also,expect some trial and error.Just try with the empty case first,and when you're ready to go,just put everything in there,and you're set! Also,you would have to check the case periodically,so you can find cracks or spots where it might leak before your PC and your fish get fried.

Agreed. It's almost as though they thought "Why not make it better by letting people view the most ugly part of their PC??". It's unecessary and means you need near-perfect cable management on both sides

On my Evolv there is only one glass panel and that is not on the cable side. You can swap them though as they have hinges so i guess they just had the glass on that side to show the cable management
cable management is only for those who have OCD. For the rest of us, all we need is to make sure both ends are properly connected.

Great review, Luke! It's hard to be critical of things, but you definitely pointed out some great things in the case that could be improved. Perhaps they'll consider doing those things in a future case.
I've added this item to my list of parts to keep track of for a future build, I'd love to put something together using this case. The side panel showing the cable management would be a great opportunity to really bring it all together and push oneself to build it as beautiful as possible.

For everyone commenting about the right glass panel exposing the messy cables, I totally agree with everyone, but I've found the perfect solution - Spray paint the INSIDE of the right glass panel with some plasti dip and you're good.
In case you're wondering what plasti dip is, it's a rubberized, matte spray paint (black is the most common color), which is removable/peel-able. And not only is it removable, but it is extremely easy and forgiving to work with.
Or better yet, show with proudness your cable management skills.

Why do you have a 1200 watt power supply for a single-GPU rig?
Higher psu's are more efficient, power wise, it was recommended that you get the highest wattage psu possible

+phantom7489 That's completely wrong. PSU efficiency isn't affected by wattage, it's affected by how much of it is being used. PSUs hit their peaj efficiency at 50% load, and the efficiency
goes down after that. In a sense, a higher efficiency power supply is more efficient, but getting a 1500W PSU for a 600W load is a bad idea.

I couldnt agree more.. This is what I came to LTT for in the first place. There are interesting projects in LTT, but for unboxings and reviews, I have now started to look at other channels like hardwarecanucks, awesomesaucenetwork, jay2cents and so on.

I run on a cheap little case the Corsair SPEC-01, it's built really well but the cable management is a pain and the front panel is hard to take off. But I probably won't switch it out soon unless i'm looking for a bigger GPU and motherboard which I am.
i got a 750D as well and it's the biggest waste of money eve, as much as i love corsair, there is just waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to many small idiotic problems with it, as well as the plastic front part is just horrible, not even chine wouldve touched it with a 10 feet long stick
i get the trend of loosing the disc drive slot but i think its to radicle and too early to do that. yes, downloading games is a thing, but that doenst make my cds and dvds and games disappear. due to the fact, that i have like 90 blueray movies that i watch on my pc and plenty of games, this case is a dealbreaker just because it has no drive slot because it means, i cant use any disc on that machine. why not build its, so that it is on option. just remove the cage and enjoy 3 fan bays?
what about the 3,5 inch expansion bay for Card readers :( can't live without it.

Too early and too radical? Apple got rid of CDs on 2008 and since then the industry finally moved on.
Optical drives are slow, noisy, ugly and CDs have ridiculous storage ammount.
Just buy an external one, rip your DVDs and Blu-rays and use them directly from your hard disk.
Apple dropped it officially after 2013 with most of their computers without the optical drive, except the base Macbook Pro 13 inch.

I bought this case swapping from a fractal design define s. I hated it. the lack of fan placement above the top rack was pointless. Also, they could have continued the fan mount in the front all the way to the top. I returned it, and stuck with the define s. imo, that case is the simplest, best case available on the market. Another thing I disliked about the Evolv, was it's HDD mounts. Compared to the simplicity of the Define S, it really limits your capabilities with what you can place in the front of the case.
It's a great looking case. It really is. Which is why I got it in the first place. But it's just not practical. If you want the best case: Go with Fractal Design.

Honestly no, I just bought this case after going between this case and its not tempered glass version + the s340 elite, this case just packs the same stuff plus more in a better configuration and work environment, I got to tinker with my friends s340 and well, I wasnt impressed in person, it feels cheap, looks cheap on the inside and doesnt yah know, feel "quality" unless you only feel the outside, if you want something easy to work in, hides everything well for a clean look and just all around has a better configuration, this is worth the money, i found more features in this case while reading reviews than the s340 and i have no regrets, also the board is advertised for E-atx 264mm MOBOS, if you unscrew the left and middle stand offs you can either A: add rubber washers, or B: unscrew 1/2 turn to 1/4 turn and this will raise the side a bit allowing the bigger E-ATX mobos that are 272mm to fit, this has no effect on my gpus and works fine, hope that helps if you plan on doing that like I was. easy quick fix, also it might be useful to cut the grommets in half on the mobo side on the grommets left side to get more clearance over the chassis and leave the right side of the grommet for that clean look :) cant even tell it's missing and makes the case look like it supports the board just fine.

Which is why you make it look nice yourself. It's tempered glass on two sides to be shown off and it isn't overused like the H440 or S340. I guess everyone has their own opinion.

Juris Bandenieks If crossfire actually worked well, 2 RX480s would give the performance of a 1080 for the price of a 1070. It is basically a 390 but with a better TDP and a 4GB option.
it's actually valid point from you. But as you said, if it works well. I highly, highly doubt that 480 crossfire will perform on 1080 level, but it should be better than 1070.
My favorite case is either the H440 or Define R5
h440 is a beast case, but the windowed side panel scratches SO easily
H440 is awesome but I'm not a fan of the matte black finish. I seem to have to clean it quite a lot to keep it looking good. Would definitely recommend tho
I built with a Define R4, missing a couple of features from the R5 but still a great case to build in.
I don't know about having glass panels on both sides for this case. Seems like it really requires some interesting modding to look good rather than just having it as an option.
H440 is overrated garbage just because it looks nice with shitty airflow. R5 is pretty nice all around though.

I just started entertaining the idea of a new build for myself as well. For the past week now I've been watching & reading reviews for different cases and this one just keeps topping my list day after day.
My biggest issue with it is the second glass panel on the cable side, but I guess I can work with that. Maybe I'll show the mess I make with the cables to my wife and her OCD will take over and she'll handle all the management for me...
All my favourite reviewers and now also Luke seem to love it. I guess it's settled for me then.

I don't like it, the way the top radiator mounts, the glass showing the cable management is a deal breaker for me.
I agree the back glass panel (I don't have a better name sorry) is kind of not great. I don't really care that much because it won' be easily visible on my build. But yes, it is basically useless. Because you have to cable manage at least the 24pin and the CPU 8-pin, and that just makes it not good looking.

Like Luke said, the mount system is different. And like I said, it's not a deal breaker for me, since I won't really ever see the back of it. But it's virtually impossible to get something clean enough on the back that you would want to display it. As soon as you have a drive, or heaven forgive, a watercooling, you're done.

how big of a silence difference is lets say a fractal design r5 compared to a glass panel case?
m8, my s340 build, i cant even hear it, i have and AC vent going past my room that's more loud than my PC.
Fractal proved that a window does no diferent in case acustics with their Fractal Define R4 or R5 (dont remember for sure)
The trick is not to buy a jet engine for a video card and a "halo player" for your CPU Cough* cough* amd. The fan cooling to will boot up with the pc at 100% to keep it under control
+ralmslb Except both those cases had options for acrylic side panel or foam insulated side panel. So, not really.
The anidees AI-crystal my friend and I were building in had a side panel shatter because there was a tiny hairline crack on the very tip of the corner when it was purchased.
Because it was tempered, the internal stress caused the panel to literally explode and caused a massive mess, and several cuts.
I never want to work with a tempered glass case again.
I am building my first PC build in over 10 years in this case and it looks absolutely stunning and the quality of this case is top notch!

Hey Linus I have a couple questions . So I built my own gaming PC like 6 months back and it was running amazingly . Until a couple days ago it shut off on me . And I waited like 12 hours then turned it back on . And the top LED lit up and I noticed no fans were spinning . 10 seconds later I seen a spark then heard a loud pop and it started smoking . I think my power supply fried . But I wanted to ask what else do you think fried with it and I think it was due to lack of airflow . And wanted to know any tips I should do before I buy new pieces for it . And tips in general . Thanks

I’m going with a black and white setup/build but this is only available in silver gray and black. Should I just go with the black and then have white LEDs or should I go with the silver? Idk how well silver would go with black and white tho
If u don't use the rail mounting system for the rad and you remove the top panel, can the rad be installed at the top so you will only have the fans inside the case? Then you reinstall the top panel. Does it fit? Not only I'm interested in buying the case but you also mentioned that the aio cooler hides the top of the mobo. Pls a test fit
I think I've finally found my case too (this one). Changed my mind so many times starting with the H440, Noctis 450, Carbide 400C, to the Evovl ATX and now this. Nothing else tickles my fancy. Will wait till stocks increase though in an attempt to get it at or close to it's MSRP of $189.
Soon as I seen it in the first couple seconds I fell in love.
I got the one without tempered glass, it looks stunning. Can't wait to build my PC in it (waiting for my 1080, gonna take a while haha).

Those things you were looking for in a case, I find, are the most common requirements among custom pc builders as well (myself included). Right now i'm planning on the Fractal Design R5 (white w/ window), but maybe I'll consider this one too.
I just purchased a Phanteks Evlolv mATX. Second case I've ever owned, not the second that I have ever worked with, and while it does lack in some practicality (literally everything that Luke mentioned about the front panel mounting taking away your 3.5" HDD bays, and the power supply being a bit of a pain to install, especially in the mATX case) it is still hands down the best damn case that I have ever used/worked with.

can i ask ? where is the ODD location ? and why i dont see a ODD in this PC ? how can u install your windows if you dont have DVD burner. ( im a beginner )
Do you think you could run 2 non reference cards in SLI? Or will the bottom card be starved of air?

Great looking case but what would you recommend as an ATC case at about half the price?
Not worried about glass sides (just at well at the price). Quiet with good cooling and the ability to add a monster GPU.
There's an HDD Bracket they sell that pushes into the "pump bracket" screws to allow you to use a triple front radiator and keep a 3.5" mounting position. It's about 120mm away from the front so it allows for thick radiators if need be.
Can you help me with my pc? I'm making one soon with an i7 processor, skylake edition and I am going to use an MSI Z170A PC MATE motherboard and a Nvidia GeForce gtx970, what else do you think I should use for a gaming rig, do you think the motherboard is good? +linustechtips
