- The point is more that Exeggutor makes it sound like it's trying to be scarier and sounds stupid in a bad way while "Yolkonuts" plays into the humorous, simple stupidity of the design in a good way.

A fun idea is to type this into deviant art and replace exegguctor with the first result.
I love his name because it implies he kills people. Imagine you find out your mom died and was killed by a funny tree with four eggs.
I admittedly kinda suck at naming monster.
Like on one hand I named one my female monster lines Jellybolt and Ephyrmaid because they're Jellyfish monsters with a mermaid motif, but turns out that I derived the name for the final form from Ephyra which turns out is the Larva stage of a Jellyfish 🥲.
So do research when advised.

I always liked the Abra evolution name progression. I thought it was silly in a good way.
It's alot easier to grasp than the original JP name Casey, I will give it that.
Due to the original ten character limit for Pokémon names, I would name Exeggcute Eggception.

I forgot about old hardware character limits. That WOULD play a really big factor.

I do see you're point, but we have had decades to come up with these. Dude was on his own localizing some flash popular media. He did a pretty good job in most regards. Great video though !
Maybe you should do your homework next time before complaining. Names were limited to ten characters (ask Feraligatr). The last time I counted UNEGGSPECTED has at least one too much.
Yeah. Forgot about that part and JP kanji taking up less space. Yolkonuts still fits tho and they could DC o the first name like Farfetch'd lol.

Sometimes. Other times it has such ridiculous pun names that it puts Yo-Kai Watch to shame.
I named a Dhelmise “Sunkenchor”, and he almost decided to not buy sun/moon
What the heck does the -mise in Illumise's name mean, that's the name that bugs me the most.
According to Bulbapedia, it MIGHT be _liciferase_ , an enzyme for bioluminescense. I definitely never would have been able to catch that.

by the way , how do you plan to do the speed mechanics? they will be completly new or also based in the yokai watch ones? If it is the second one , do you already know how it works? yo-gon for example is having trouble with them for his ykw2 simulator
@@a.j7810 Still trying to figure them out for myself. I'll likely have to do my best to guess and test with them since I don't have the source code to go off of. If I can get as close as possible, that should be enough.

First of all heya im happy you are doing "that kind" of mons (dont question me im just sum weird fella on the internet) and secund of all yea i get where you are coming from when i learned some pokemons japonease names i expected something more puny and wacky like the yokais then booster (flareon) fyre (moltres) and thunder (zapdos)

Sickening. I've always loved their names. They're actually unique instead of two words put together. That's the lamest way to name something.
It's the exact same naming scheme. You have a word associated with egg inside another word just with something that plays more into their theme.
Instead of just egg inside execute, you have it in unexpected (cuz you don't expect them to be seeds).
Instead of egg inside executor, you have yolk inside of coconuts (cuz it's a friggin coconut tree)

@DrCoeloCephalo up until you said something, I never even realized it was execute and executor mixed with egg. I just thought it was a super cool name. It's definitely cooler now, and I hate to it, but I think yolkonuts is a horrible name.
@@thebigbean8783 Is English your second language? Yolkonuts is way closer to being in line with the originally intended JP name since it technically has nothing to do with eggs. Lol.
