The description of the aliens made me think it was gonna be a bad horror game with good graphics and ambiance but the developers did such a great job making the aliens terrifying lol
I like how it also takes into account that. Humans have "seen" different types of aliens and out of the ones we've "seen" the "grey's" are considered the worst
What honestly blew me away about _They Are Here_ was how _polished_ it was. The models and environments are detailed, the animation is smooth, the lighting and sound design are _brilliant..._ Demos tend to get a fair amount of leeway, but that _didn't look like a demo._
As Jack said in the video I love how the aliens have all this insane technology thousands of years into the future and just decides to sucker punch to knock you out. Punching is apparently the universal language.
It's worth pointing out that 'The Night is Darkening Round Me' is a poem by Emily Bronte (author of Wuthering Heights) which might explain the look of the game, the way the people talk, and the woman in the manor: The night is darkening round me, The wild winds coldly blow; But a tyrant spell has bound me, And I cannot, cannot go. In game 1, it's apparent that farmer Peter Sherman wasn't abducted. Instead, he moved to Australia and opened a dentistry practice at 42 Wallaby Way, Sydney.
That one painting in the last game is by Fransisco Goya, and it’s called “Saturn Eating his Son.” He was known for his more grotesque pieces later on in his career! Personally one of my favorites along side Picasso and Zurbarán!
Fun fact! Goya did not actually entitle this "Saturn Devouring His Son", that's just an interpretation of the work. This is one of Goya's 'Black Paintings', murals he painted on the walls of his home. Saturn in particular was painted on the walls of his dining room. I think it's really funny how there's just this random painting of gruesome cannabilism on the walls of his dining room and people were like "¿¿¿??? Idk it's probably meant to be the Roman myth of Saturn devouring his sons???"
@@moonstrifflimestone5493 i mean, it’s a much more reasonable (and less scarier) explanation than assuming Goya was either A) painting something he saw in a dream, B) painting something he hallucinated/actually saw someone doing or C) painting something he wanted to do, or actually *did*. Also, wonder why they chose the Roman version of the myth, maybe ‘Saturn Devouring his Sons’ had a better ring to it than ‘Kronos Devouring his Sons’.
I think the night is darkening was probably my absolute favorite. Although the alien one was cool. The last one was just so unique and had such an awesome world.
I forgot what video he said it in, but it was in another video about a scary game, but he said that the game he was playing at the time he actually thought was really well made and scared him and that he usually plays the getting scared for the camera

I don’t know why specifically, but seeing you play the first scary game makes me want to make a game of my own. It’s so cool to think about people playing a game that you’ve spent so long on carefully crafting every detail of it.
The first game reminded me of an alien abduction movie I've seen, I've forgotten the name but it was about a family in a new home and strange things start happening. Waking up in places they don't recall, kids talking to things that aren't there, the kids acting stranger and stranger, things moved or arranged in weird ways, nosebleeds, headaches, dead animals, birds crashing into their windows. One scene had the husband standing in the yard spaced out and just gushing blood from his nose. Their neighbors take their kids to the pool and returns them and gives the parents dirty looks and asks for explanations of the bruises all over their body and calls them horrible parents for abusing their kids. They eventually find a man who had experienced what they have, and they learn that it's aliens and that dogs get aggressive around them, but cats will warn, though not attack, I think. He says that they will get one of the family that has been distancing themselves from the unit and, they assume it's their youngest, who has been acting strangely. They also learn that they have installed trackers in them, right behind their ears where the husband has been forming a rash for awhile. He cuts it out I think, and they get a big aggressive dog, shack up the house, get guns, and get ready for a fight for their son. But they learn too late it wasn't their youngest son, but rather their oldest who had distanced himself from the family and had left, assuming his parents crazy and went to the forest with a friend, where he was promptly taken by the aliens.
I’m sure someone has mentioned this, but for anyone that wants to know: the painting he referred to was Saturn eating his son from Francisco Goya. Idk if that’s the original name but it’ll get you the google search. As for Hieronymus Bosch, he mostly did garden of Eden triptych panels and some really surreal stuff. I thought so too - Also, the game 'Dread Delusion' is made by the same group(Lovely Hellplace), and has a lot of the same themes and a really cool world, with lots of lore, it is worth checking out.
"Please don't put anything in my ass" definitely didn't expect that😂I'm laughing so hard. Also when Jack mentioned "vampire aliens" the only thing that came to mind was those creatures from AHS.
sometimes I go back to this video just to look at the last part because it really stands out to me, I really like the vibe, it feels so mysterious and like its part of a much bigger world
the creepy "background" footage of jack playing interspersed with the game was *CHEF'S KISS* unique, creative, genius! really cool too, personally i find the "oooo edited face and distorted voice then BAM jumpscare" intros cheesy so this was extra captivating
All 3 of these games were actually really cool. I loved the production of the first one, especially the moving lights, and I'm a sucker for live action in games. The second was super tense and I really liked the sudden unexpected turn at the end. And number 3 just had great worldbuilding even in just that very short time!
the interspersed horror aspect is SO FRICKIN COOL. Never stop, Jack. Loving this vibe!! Edit: *That painting* at 42:10 is by Francisco Goya, from his so called _'black period'_ . It's called 'Saturn Devouring His Son' btw for anyone who may have forgotten :)
It’s a great painting! The tall vertical painting on the other side of the door is a small detail of ‘the triumph of death’ by Pieter Bruegel the elder who’s paintings share some similarities to hieronymus bosch which is probably where jack got the idea.
I would definitely recommend checking out the game called, Greetings. It's a true alien-horror experience that many praises because of the atmosphere and the feeling of the unknown. And it has a mind blowing ending. Seriously, go and check it out!
I hope the full game of this gets released so we can enjoy watching Jack play it. As someone who is fascinated by UFO's and aliens myself, this demo was so well done.
I love how the game is meant to scare the living shit out of you and Sean is like “ ALIEN DADDY” or “ A MEMBER OF THE SHERMAN FAMILY” and I just lose it. And it makes me even more scared cuz I’m laughing my ass off and BOOM something happens and I shit my whities
When I was a kid I had a walkie-talkie headset. Sometimes, if I stood in certain areas on the second floor of the house I'd pick up phone calls from my neighbors. I could hear them but they couldn't hear me. It was awesome. Only happened like 3 times though.
@@Raulxz you can sometimes hear phone calls through baby monitors so it's possible their neighbor had a landline or a baby monitor and the walkie headset was picking that up. Also back in the day my father and uncles all used cb radio cell phones that worked both ways. No need to be so angry.
@@Raulxz he said when he was a kid. Cell phones weren't as big 10-15 years ago. Most places still had a home phone. It's very easy to pick up signals on those things
The third game was really interesting! Not a fan of the graphics, but I LOVE floating islands, and that somewhat lovecraftian-aesthetic with ghosts is also cool. The weirdest thing were probably the floating nautilus shells...
The music in the last two games were absolutely beautiful and the sound of the alien in the first game was CHILLING. Every single game was so fucking awesome.
I'd lobe to see Sean's reactions to footage/"footage" of aliens caught on tape if he really likes alien abduction stuff so much. Real or not it would still be cool to see his reactions!
Lobe- noun: lobe; plural noun: lobes a roundish and flattish part of something, typically each of two or more such parts divided by a fissure, and often projecting or hanging. "the leaf has a broad central lobe" each of the parts of the cerebrum of the brain.
@@DSGoku693 Sean already reacts to other peoples' content, but I do understand your point. I'm more referring to how he already does it where there's at least editing and cuts so that it's with copyright limits and not showing the whole video to give incentive to watch the original. I personally enjoy those types of videos because it's informative and educational on what people find convincing when making horror games or stories or creepypastas or whatever.
@@DSGoku693 fair enough, although I do think it's a bigger deal for games as they actually cost a huge amount of money and effort to make and I doubt even half of the people who watch the gameplay even play them after so he is profiting of others labour still. Saying that I'm not against gameplay videos
I've never wanted to design a D&D campaign around a setting more than the Night is Darkening. There's so much dark potential for a world like that, holy shit.
@@DragonKnightX12 Honestly I'm not super familiar with Morrowind! But less so just the look of the game and more the fractured reality after a war with extraplanar/holy creatures that's left the populations of both sides mostly obliterated and littered with very religious themes. And ofc the fact that somehow something that looks like a combo of a pokedex and an 80's brick phone has some kind of power to kill people with angel blessings/heritage.
If anyone's curious the alien game seems like it based on the horror movie "Dark Skies". Its actually one of the only alien movies out there that I think does a amazing job at aliens, highly recommend watching!
I love how the thumbnail is just jack thrusting into an abduction beam. Never seen a pregnant abduction beam before but I get the feeling that I'm about to.
Those 3 horror games are very impressive and terrifying. I've played the first horror game that Jack played, and it's very well done and spooky. I really like the alien abduction horror aspect. DEKLAZON did incredible work on developing and making this game. They Are Here is a phenomenal horror game.
I've never left a youtube comment before but I have to say this. The Editor for all of Jack's videos does an amazing job. The editing of his videos is what puts Jack in S tier of videos nowadays.
Jack: I would love to go through something like this irl also Jack: says abduct me alien daddy many times, daddy long fingers Aliens: Now this is why we will never go for this guy ok?
42:12 I know this video is old by now, but Jack is thinking of the Spanish artist Francesco Goya! The one painting Jack points out is “Saturn Devouring His Son” that Goya painted directly onto the wall in his dining room
I immensely enjoyed Seán's voice acting in the last game, the voices suited the characters very well, and that game was just incredibly cool in general
Alien stories and documentaries are so fascinating and creepy, there definitely needs to be games about that genre of horror because its honestly one of the most terrifying things you could experience, its just that overwhelming fear of being alone and watched by something that is not human.
Hey Seán, art nerd here. Im not sure about the other painting but the one from 42:05 is a painting by Francisco Goya and its called “saturn devouring his son” which depicts the story from Greek myth of the Titan Cronus, eating one of his children after he was told a prophecy that one of his children would overthrow him. He then ate each child upon their birth. Its a very cool painting one of my personal favourites as im into the horror genre and the concept of cannibalism is exceptionally interesting (I recommend people read up on the Donner party its an really interesting and spooky story, and its true :)
That alien abduction game is really good! Some really impressive game design and well crafted scares! I especially loved the placement of that scarecrow. I'm keeping an eye out for the full release!!
I was so addicted to the idea of alien obductions, admittedly to the point where I couldn't tell fact from fiction, but looking back they were so cool, especially the ones that were more artistic. The mini-films were always incredible.
Jack: They don't make games about alien abductions - I used to watch videos about them all the time!
Jack: Abduct me, alien daddy.
Aliens: You see, that right there is the problem.

i love francisco goya’s work! we studied him in my famous deaf people unit for asl. he’s such an interesting figure -venti
I saw the paintings in real life in Madrid. Its so scary.
It’s a great painting! The tall vertical painting on the other side of the door is a small detail of ‘the triumph of death’ by Pieter Bruegel the elder who’s paintings share some similarities to hieronymus bosch which is probably where jack got the idea.
I was coming to write this exact thing, the painting was made between 1819 and 1823
Oh wow, thanks for letting everyone know. 😊👍🏾
I would definitely recommend checking out the game called, Greetings. It's a true alien-horror experience that many praises because of the atmosphere and the feeling of the unknown. And it has a mind blowing ending. Seriously, go and check it out!

As a member of the Sherman family I have to say that one was genuinely creepy.
a fellow member of the Sherman family, incredible!
It's true. I was the whale on the fridge.

I hope the full game of this gets released so we can enjoy watching Jack play it.
As someone who is fascinated by UFO's and aliens myself, this demo was so well done.
They released a prologue of They Are Here, please play it when you can Jack! 😁
It’s so weird seeing Sean’s setup from a different angle, didn’t even realize what I was looking at at first.
I know right? It confused the heck out of me. I was like: no way the game can do that

Only happened like 3 times though.
did you hear any drama 🤔. ok but that's pretty cool!
You cant hear mobile phone calls with a walkie talkie headset and i fucking doubt your neighbours were using walkie talkies
@@Raulxz The commenter is was probably a kid back when they still had landlines as the main phone, not everyone grew up with cells phones🗿
This is my favorite Jacksepticeye video this year. Gives me immense serotonin.

I think its so cool how in the video it cuts to a camera thats watching him man jack is so talented
I'd lobe to see Sean's reactions to footage/"footage" of aliens caught on tape if he really likes alien abduction stuff so much.
Real or not it would still be cool to see his reactions!
Lobe- noun: lobe; plural noun: lobes
a roundish and flattish part of something, typically each of two or more such parts divided by a fissure, and often projecting or hanging.
"the leaf has a broad central lobe"
each of the parts of the cerebrum of the brain.
@@DSGoku693 You could say the same thing for games no? It's someone else's creation that youtubers are profiting off
@@DSGoku693 fair enough, although I do think it's a bigger deal for games as they actually cost a huge amount of money and effort to make and I doubt even half of the people who watch the gameplay even play them after so he is profiting of others labour still. I've never wanted to design a D&D campaign around a setting more than the Night is Darkening. There's so much dark potential for a world like that, holy shit.
Check out Grim hollow or Arora for D&D.
@@Technogirlfreak95 👀Will do, thank you!
So basically a Morrowind campaign.
Also "Signs" with Mel Gibson and Joaquin Phoenix 🔥
I was thinking the exact same thing. Especially when he started reading that they are "the grays" and the incisions behind the ear
I was thinking about the movie "The fire in the skies", the most unsettling part is the final part, though.

Jack: I would love to go through something like this irl
also Jack: says abduct me alien daddy many times, daddy long fingers

42:12 I know this video is old by now, but Jack is thinking of the Spanish artist Francesco Goya! The one painting Jack points out is “Saturn Devouring His Son” that Goya painted directly onto the wall in his dining room

I read “Pimp room” for a moment.
John Wick is ready to beat alien ass since they killed the poor Sherman dog
Sean is pissed about the dog getting killed more than about the abducted child LOL!
@gavin Krueger LOL
@gavin Krueger it's funny
I immensely enjoyed Seán's voice acting in the last game, the voices suited the characters very well, and that game was just incredibly cool in general
Alien stories and documentaries are so fascinating and creepy, there definitely needs to be games about that genre of horror because its honestly one of the most terrifying things you could experience, its just that overwhelming fear of being alone and watched by something that is not human.
i think they are pretty dope cause you can kinda make the aliens do what you want cause we dont really know what aliens could do
Hey Seán, art nerd here.
