This game looked like the 2022 Astros. Give me a heart attack every single game but we pull through and win. I hope(like, really hope) that it a sign that maybe we will turn this season around

Because they still have terrible pitching lol. One good starter, Verlander, and what 4 other bad starters, with very inconsistent relievers. They need to fix their pitching issue(s) first to prevent the heart attack games lol

The best part of this game was seeing Hader be a team player and work that extra inning. Even if we didn't take the game back in the bottom of the inning that showed team commitment that I wasn't sure he had. You've earned my respect, Josh. Welcome to the Astros.

I’m seriously bummed for Jose Abreu. We know the guy has potential, but we were not gonna win tonight if he had stayed in the lineup. I hope he gets the help he needs with his swing and he’ll be his old self before end of the half.
Yeah, I do like the guy and saw him play with the White Sox. When he first returned back to the stadium as an Astro, you saw how much fun he was having with old teammates so I figured it was just a home sick "He needs to make friends here to get going again" situation that prevented him from being great like he was with the White Sox, and I really thought he was doing really good in the playoffs last year, but this year has been so abysmal, he just isn't worth the contract unless he can somehow pull himself up from an extremely bad slump.
He will be okay I think he needs to work on his mental game too and rest up. He was a workhorse and you can only do that so many years with the human body.
He can’t hit fastballs anymore, just getting old.

@@blindfire3167 As a fellow Cuban I begrudgingly admit Abreu may be past his prime by a lot right now. Switching Gourriel for him brought no advantage to the Astros, althougfh Gourriel is in kinda the same spot, past his prime, too old to start every game.

My hot take: a bit of mismanagement by espada to leave Hunter out there. Yea he cruised after the 1st inning but he should’ve been ready to take him out ASAP in the 6th inning if anyone reached. Think we would’ve been a lot more satisfied if Hunter went 5 with 3 ER than 5.1 with 5 ER
Totally agree, hopefully Espada will learn because Crusty never did. He always left the starter in until they lost the game and then went to the reliever.
I think it was 6 ER's, not 5. The runner on base when he left the game was his, and he scored.
@@Papa-in-Tx the point stands, 5 IP and 3 ER is better than the outcome he had. They need to give him small victories before they try getting him bigger ones
good to see the team respond on a rare off-day for Air Yordan. A win is a win, but pitching is still an issue. Despite the hit, Hader finally is looking like Hader. Great news. Hopefully Pressly follows suit as well.

We really need Javier and Urquidy back. At this point I'd have a reliever throw the 1st inning then go to HB as long relief. Weird but he's clearly got a mental thing going on in the 1st inning.

Pitching lol. 1 good pitcher with Verlander being just okay so far this year and every other starter/reliever has been beyond inconsistent with the worst games being horrible. Take a shot every game you see that the Astros give up 3+ runs in the first 3 innings, or blow a lead in the last 3 innings this year and you'll be close to needing a pump for your stomach.
At least this time it was vs the Commanders who are leading their division, and we got the W.

I’ll never understand why the Astros gave Montero such a big contract. I was completely baffled when they even signed him again. He only throws fastballs and gets lit up just about every time. I can do the same thing. Give me millions and I throw them batting practice all day.

Best game I've seen in a while though, the game tying home runs and both pinch hitters took the lead in the 10. Im an astros fan so I never hear the clevand announcers but they are some of the best calls I've heard

It’s a good move what brown and the front office did and They didn’t get rid of abreu they sent him to their flordia complex to find his swing again (timing) to get back to his former self .. which he does need a lot of work on … and what’s job is brown doing bad at ? Singletons average is higher than Abreu’s which is why they kept him and then they call up a really good prospect to fill the whole til Jose gets back
