  • “Can you paint without sanding?” “Do you need primer?” “Do you need to sand before using chalk paint?” “Does chalk paint really last?”
    Today I am going to look at answers to some of these questions by putting the highly and widely recommended Annie Sloan Chalk Paint to the test, to see how well it holds up on Laminate, IKEA Furniture, and Previously Varnished or Painted wood! I’ll be testing each piece with varying levels of prep, from no prep at all, to sanding and primer, and then I get to throw things at the pieces to see how well the paint lasts - what’s not to like?!! :)
    I hope you enjoy watching this test, and hopefully it will help you to decide which paint and level of preparation is right for your next DIY project!
    Check out the Hampton Your House playlist below for more fun DIY inspo, and as always, thanks so much for watching!

    I found this paint searching how can I restore my furniture which is varnished. Will it work if I don't sand at all ?

      I would say if the piece of furniture isn't going to get bumped or used a lot and isn't in a high traffic area, you can probably get away without sanding. If it's something you're going to be using every day, maybe try to do some extra prep work. Would love to hear how your project went! 😊

    So the first test. Sanding and primer had more dents 🤔

      @HamptonYourHouse  Před 2 lety

      Yes, I kind of attacked that one trying to get it to chip, hence more dents. 😂 I probably should have hit each sample the same number of times for a fairer test! Next time!! 😂😂
