When he was 19 or 25 he would sprint and dribble every play. He still has speed and explosiveness but he uses them in spurts now. He will dribble someone late in a game when they need a goal and the defense is stubborn and he fully sprints on a break or counter. He's a great athlete but his game is more precision than athleticism now. Besides his skill and heading, the key to his game (as it has been since ~2016) is his timing. He reads the game well and shows up at the right time. Honestly, Messi does the same thing. Messi has a different skill set but the same great timing, it's what has set these two apart for a decade+ and it's even more important as they age. Ronaldo usually crashes across the defense or stabs in at the 6 and Messi trails the play and cleans up around the penalty area but it's the same great timing. It's remarkable to see once you look for it. Both legends are a joy to watch!
