I will be flying with my son’s adult cat in a month or so. I am hoping to be able to have a “private screening” through security. I have contacted TSA (US airports) and they say you can request this if you think your cat will be a “flight risk” (pun both intended and not intended). We will have the cat in a harness.....just in case....it will be easier to hold onto him when he’s out of the carrier.

just got back, 2 flights over 2 hours, our Maine coon cat did wonderfully!!!! ...TSA loved her! very similar to your experience. Ty! for posting video as gave courage to try it. CONCLUSION. Don't fret YES can take cats on a plane! under the seat, used a Sherpa brand medium carrier fit perfectly under seat... she was way calmer than even a car ...just do your homework and train them ahead that the cat carrier is their safe home, a pleasant place and treat when they go in on own and let you zip carrier and carry them to another room ...gently let them out w lots of love and reward...did that a couple weeks before daily. no sprays or anything needed, just she felt safe in it Asked for private room for TSA when have to take them out

almost 18 years ago, i moved from nelson BC to georgian bay ontario with a hybrid bobcat, by plane. because of her size they required a rigid carrier(still use it today "catit cabrio") with water/food dishes. the vet did recommend a 1/4 tablet of gravol, because it was an 8+ hour flight depending on the winds. i also put in some chunks of honeysuckle, which has similar effects to catnip.

I was just researching this, this video was so helpful. There is a friend of mine that works with a more senior Vet and I asked her about cat's ears popping during flight and the vet told her it's possible, however no one knows for sure. Also apparently some cats need sedatives for flights, there are some anti-anxiety sprays. :-) . Benadryl, well baby benadryl is sometimes given to cats that have been snakebitten; but you only give a tiny amount put in water, that is what my vet recommended when my cat was snakebitten (he made a full recovery). My friend that is a vet had also just did a spay on a bengal kitten so bengals are definitely becoming more and more popular. Stay safe guys and give Kona a neck scratch for me.

Our bengal goes up to our cabin, it's a 6 hour drive. She sleeps the whole time, but we have an absorbent pad in the cage because she pees about one hour into the trip. We once tried to put a diaper on her and we were scratched up. She knows when we are close to the cabin. It's in the middle of the forest. She can hear, see, and smell many wild things. The problem with bringing on a flight is she only eats raw meat. I guess I could bring an extra suitcase or something. Our favorite place to fly to is Hawaii, but Bengals aren't allowed there. Some hair dye could remedy that situation. I don't know if a kennel would take her. She isnt really a house cat or dog. Something in between. The Maine coon we had was a star at the kennel. The girls there didn't want her to leave. The bengal needs to play, run, and go for walks.

My cat does an hour car ride every other weekend. She's never had a carrier before because she's so well behaved and just hangs out the entire ride. I'm planning a move to Japan and really wanting to bring my cat with me but that means I gotta figure out how to get her used to a carrier. She likes being held by her momma (me) cause she feels safe with me. So I'm super nervous about the carrier. She's 16 years old but she's still really healthy.

Hello fellow Canadians. Bengals are one of my favourite cats! Is this Kona’s 1st flight? Fortunately Calgary to Vancouver is such a short flight. I’ll be traveling from Japan to Vancouver with 4 cats possibly later this year. You are very smart getting Kona familiar and comfortable in the carrier before the flight. On international flights, they are very strict requiring vaccines and health certificates. Yes, good they didn’t require Kona to go through the scanner. Wow, looks like Kona did really well. She doesn’t look full grown yet. How old is she?

Check out the feliway spray! Don't spray too much, because the pheromones can choke you, and possibly the cat, out. Just spray a little bit on her carrier, and it will help calm her down.

Awww she did amazing and she’s adorable. I got my cat one of the soft carriers pretty much the same as yours as I thought it would be more comfortable for him and easier to carry. He was fine in it during the first like 10 car journeys going to the vet and visiting my mum and then one day he just clawed a big hole in it and nearly got out, it’s easily done so I’m surprised that’s what airlines recommend. I’ve since bought a plastic one that looks quite cool and he can’t escape.
