      If I don't have enough time, I would usually count how many words in one line I wrote and then just simply times the number of lines of the full essay.

    I have wrote approximately 265+ words in my WT 2. Will it create any problems?

    • @ieltsliz
      @ieltsliz  Před 2 lety

      Why would this be a problem? You are tasked with writing "at least" 250 words which means over 250. On the whole, you ought to aim for between 270 and 290 words. But there are no set rules, just advice. Certainly it isn't a long essay, but if it develops each main point sufficiently, it'll be fine. Remember, it's always about aiming for accuracy and focus rather than length.

    How about words between 300- 335 in the essay?

    • @ieltsliz
      @ieltsliz  Před 7 lety +4

      There is no upper word count limit for writing task 2. However, you are marked on your ability to write a focused, relevant essay. This means that any extra padding will lower your score. Also if you write more, you might show more mistakes in vocab or grammar which will also lower your score. Finally, there is the time limit - it's best to aim for 270 words and use the extra time to proof read and delete mistakes.

      Hello Liz! First of all, I can't thank you enough for all your virtual guidance. I was pretty confident about my English since the beginning, but ielts is a different ball game altogether. In addition to my own practice, your videos greatly helped me. I'm expecting my 'academic' result around the 6th/7th of June and I have one constantly nagging concern, that I wrote a lot! Task 1 had two graphs, with the planning and everything, I ended up spending 25 minutes on it and I got a little panicky for my task 2, which was a problematic essay. However, I managed to write a fairly decent essay covering all my bases of heavy duty vocabulary, commas in the right places, etc. I barely managed a revision in the end, correcting a few silly mistakes here and there. Overall, I'm confident I wrote a quality essay, but I'm worried that over writing would drastically reduce my band score. I'd appreciate your advice on this. I'll surely be sharing my score with you. Thanking you in anticipation!!

      @ieltsliz  Před 6 lety +1

      Your total word count will be between 260 and 290 words for writing task 2. The length of your body paragraphs will depend on whether you have two or three body paragraphs.

    Hello Liz.
    Yesterday only I asked you if I could score above 6 if I wrote under word limit in task 2.
    Guess what?
    I scored 6.5 in writing inspite of writing 220 words only.
    8.5 in Listening
    7 in speaking and reading.
    I cant thank you enough for your efforts.
    Praying for your good health 🙏.
