oh and i should add, if your buddy's crossfire has a diamond drive i would service it immediately. they were the achilles heal of the sled. regular maintenance is of it is very important, especially if its got reverse. complete cover removal with every oil change is highly recommended. if you find something before it blows it will save a lot of cash. i have buddy's that do this regularly. with the prox i forgot to mention that there's a weak point in the trailing arms where the arm attaches to the chassis. that little bushing is only held on with 2 tiny welds and i had one break . luckily it was in the fuel station parking lot and not in the ditch where i was doing 80. my fix was to take a piece of 16Ga 3/4' by 8" long and wrap it from top to bottom around the bushing then weld it all the way around. it will never break again. just thought i would pass it along. i love that your in my era of sleds so ive got a decent amount of info on them. keep the vids coming

Let your buddy know hoods from 05 m/crossfires up to 11 are all the same, I’d say if he’s doing the track/ drivers, upgrade and get a 141 setup from a 09 to 11 including the tunnel extension! Those 05 to 08 tunnel extension sucked, as for a track get a 141 2.25 lug track

Garage is shared with my uncle and is full. Sled was in the garage since 2018 but sat outside last spring/summer/fall covered. Looking to get a solid enclosed trailer.

@@DIPSTICKTV the 2005 IQR’s are becoming more and more rare to find in the clean original condition your’s was in. I have two 05's and have worked so hard to return to that original condition. Like you said though it is your sled and long as you like it that's all that that matters. They are blast, I hope you enjoy, and look forward to watching more video's!

those f5's are hot right out of the box. will keep up, and usually pass any 600. make sure it has the updated air intake boot. 03's would crack and lean out the engine and burn. i see your prox doent have the rear suspension relocation mod. its where you move the front bolts by your boots down 3/4". search prox rear suspension relocation. youll find the exact dimensions to drill the new holes. most of the race sleds had already been done. makes it feel like a whole different sled and eliminates the the classic edge butt sag. really puts the front track shock into action. it does lighten the ski's a lot so you have to play around with the limiter strap to find the right mix. youll probably end up spending most of your time on the iqr though. those things are flying tanks. look up the iq that could climb trees on youtube and see what kind of punishment they can endure. looking forward to the next vid. cheers

I dont know that firecat look very clean to me and you always can tell if a sled been in garage or outside most it life, that firecat look to clean been stored outside. All my sleds I owned I never stored outside
I thought about it! Just would have to get the mounting kit for the IQR. I really want white C&A’s on it though now that it’s wrapped (you’ll see in next video). We’ll see what happens!
The 03 f7 a bad unit. I have had several. Look for cracks by sway arms on bulkhead. And cracks under the seat on tunnel. Biggest failure on the 03 chassis
Hopefully the F5 isn’t as prone to those issues since it’s lighter but yeah, Idk. His is abnormally clean so I don’t think his has any cracking but we’ll double check. His GF will be riding it most of the time anyways so I’m sure it won’t get much abuse. Hopefully no issues🤞

The early 1-2 years certainly had some weak points. They are solid sleds all around though if you aren’t looking to jump the hell out of it. If you’re looking to jump big, race sleds. 600rs are solid sleds for sure. The brand new skidoo race sleds are amazing. Polaris is my jam though. 600R next.

I have 04 f7, 153 and 2" , over 10k HARD kms on original engine, It's been a great sled
The f series are junk . . The tunnels are weak . Skidoo rs is the way to go

Oh, and none of these 3 new sleds are still on the channel lol. I got a 1 of 6 2013 IQR Lavallee mod and Tommy got a 2019 zr6000r.
