  • Rare short film from Loopline's TV series 'Imprint' presented by Theo Dorgan was aired on RTE 1999. It celebrated the 60th anniversary of Louis MacNeice's epic poem 'Autumn Journal'.
    The film features, Ciaran Carson, Michael Longley, Jennifer Johnston,and the actors Andrea Irvine and Ali White and was directed by Brendan J. Byrne.

    I didn't know he was Irish. I remember a part of this poem by heart. "An utterly lost and daft system that gives a few at fancy prices their fancy lives, while ninety nine in a hundred must wash the grease of ages from the knives." Well, Louis, remember the sunlight on the garden.

    Does anybody know where macneice was born??? My ancestors came from cootehill ireland and my name today because im an american now changed/spelled different but im pretty sure my ancestors were called mac neice
