I got married in 2020, had about 100 people attend, beachfront wedding at a historic hotel for $12k. I did all my centerpieces myself with faux flowers, bought signage and vases used on Facebook marketplace, and my venue was all inclusive with bartending and catering included. The only thing I really splurged on was my photographer and an additional $500 for a Photo Booth. All my guests thought I spent $30k or more and were shocked when I told them what I did spend. it’s so much easier to have a budget wedding than people think.
Prices are very different than back in 2020.
I'm trying to have a budget wedding, and I'm on the fence for a videographer...do you regret not having one?
@@sookiesleepsalot sometimes yes, when I see other people’s that are so pretty. But most of the time no. I know a lot of people that said they only watch their videos once a year, if that much. So it didn’t make sense to pay that much to barely watch it. But we got a good photographer and always flip through our photos and albums.
Wow hearing this budget makes me so much prouder that I did a wedding under 10k in san diego this year! it was hard and we had to keep it really small but we did what we could afford :)

How many people attended?
A lot of people like to say “so glad I didn’t go big” or regret not having a cheaper wedding, but honesty if you have the means go for it! My sisters was 40k (which is so much I know) and it was so so so fun. It went until midnight with a live band and our entire family and friends were up dancing the entire night and we still talk about it to this day. Her wedding was the last time we saw a few family members too who passed and it was such a great memory to have with them. I think it’s great you guys are making the wedding what you want, with the videographer and string quartet and all. And I bet it’ll be amazing and something you’ll cherish forever 🤍 I wish people would not make comments about how we should just elope or how it should be cheaper to myself as I now plan a wedding. But to each their own! Can’t wait to see the wedding video after 🤍 enjoy the process!
Totally agree! Was thinking the same exact thing. Our wedding was pretty much on the cheap but I don't begrudge anyone who goes all out or spends a bunch more than I did. It's such a personal thing, and sometimes when people comment snarky things about how much something costs and how they think so-and-so should have done something differently they just sound rude and maybe even jealous. It's hurtful when people don't respect the decisions you make. I don't understand why people post comments that they know are going to do harm. The other day I commented positively on someone else's hair tutorial. They pulled off a look that I knew would never look good on me and I complimented them and someone responded to my comment so rudely! Seriously it was such an unnecessary and unkind comment I thought about it quite a few times during the day. I can't imagine being a CZcamsr who shares their life online and gets who knows how many rude or insensitive comments every time they post anything!
I totally understand trying to save money and all, but to pay almost 30k on a wedding and you still can’t provide seating for ALL your guests is a bit insane. Maybe spend a little more to rent extra chairs for your guests comfort? For some people, eating tacos may require two hands but if they have to stand and use one hand to hold their plate and the other to pick up their taco…. Doesn’t sound like a pleasant experience. Also, I’m sure there will be guests who are wearing high heels and wishing for an open seat to relieve their foot pain.
I also understand you don’t want to do certain things because you’ve already experienced it with your first marriage, but this is Jordy’s FIRST (and hopefully only) marriage. Shouldn’t he get the chance to experience a wedding registry? Sure your family and friends bought you items for your first marriage, but that’s the past. This is supposed to be your forever marriage now. Let it shine, let people shower you guys with gifts/love. Who cares if you’ve done it before. Your marriage with Jordy is now and should not be held back by your previous marriage experience. Stop focusing on the past. It’s as if you can’t just enjoy what you and Jordy are experiencing now because you keep thinking about your previous marriage.
But a wedding registry for what? Seems like Michel already has a household full of stuff. If I were a second-time wedding guest, I would also care about giving another generous gift like I gave the first time.
I think it is because most of their guests will be travelling to the wedding. They might not want their guests to spend too much on them but they also don't want to spend too much on their guests.
Again, the true emotions and love of village around you ( family, friends,etc) has me so excited for you both! This season of your life in all aspects is so refreshing and you both deserve all of it! ❤

Not gonna lie....as a still single girl, those figures made me just about choke to death. I mean, I know weddings are expensive, but it makes the idea of just going to the court house look really nice. 😂

Little tip for people planning their wedding. My best friend wanted to do an experiment when she was planning hers, both of us called the same vendors and asked for the same things but she said it was for a wedding and I said it was a birthday party. The quotes she got were MASSIVELY overpriced. Since the cake was being picked up by one of us and the caterers would never have access to the venue, they were just dropping off the food in the kitchen area, she decided to book everything as a birthday party and saved TONS of money. So maybe do your own little experiment and see what you can get away with.
I did the same and saved so much money on a plain white 3 tier cake with roses on top
Wow - what happened when they realized it was a wedding? That's the stuff I would worry about lol. Did they follow through with the lower pricing?
@@ggpink9044 they didn’t. The caterers were just dropping off the food in the kitchen and you can’t see the event area from the kitchen so there was no way for them to know and I picked up the cake. That’s why I said see what you can get away with. And honestly, vendors shouldn’t up charge so much for their services just because it’s a wedding reception. If you charge $500 bucks for a 3 tiered vanilla cake for a birthday party then it should be the same price for a wedding and not an up charge of hundreds of dollars. To me that’s price gouging and should be unacceptable. My friend saved so much money by not being sucked into the whole wedding industry lies, her entire wedding with dress included was maybe, MAYBE $3k and in my heart I know I’m overestimating the amount.
@@angelaggarrido7816 yeah hers was a 3 tiered plain white cake too, but she had orchids flowing down.
If you see it from the other side, the huge bridal markups make complete sense because of how much more brides cost to serve! First, there's the extra time: I pay my employees by the hour, and brides (understandably!) take up WAY more of their time with everything from color matching, getting exact specs, matching our items to things from other stores, back-and-forth comparisons with other vendors, the list goes on. They might take hours of our time and a lot of money trying things, using samples, ordering in variations, and not buy anything, and if they do buy things, they're much much more likely than other customers to make returns. Their expectations are (understandably!) much higher in all aspects: there are so many things that can go wrong during production and delivery that, to ensure good service, we need much more stock space than normal, and we have to store things for much longer: not like grocery stores where it's in and out, and if they don't have a product that week, well maybe it will come next week or month! Brides expect the most attentive service that can include happily hosting their whole bridal party and family members. One of the most difficult parts is that bridal expectations involve more intangibles: accurate measurements and samples and explanations have nothing against delivery day coming and the bride being dissatisfied for unquantifiable reasons. Kindness, refunds, and apologies have nothing against someone who (understandably! Everything is supposed to feel perfect) cries and screams and posts an emotional one-star review online. This is just the beginning of a general explanation, without getting into more specific products or situations. Rather than spend even more time and money itemizing minute by minute each extra cost that a bride generates, we find it makes the most sense to simply charge more for the end product. It's not fair or competitive to try to put that cost onto regular customers. If you buy products or services as a bride without telling the vendor about your situation, PLEASE be considerate!

Quite shocked that 30k is considered a budget wedding. There were quite a few expenses not included too (wedding attire, rings, honeymoon and rehearsal dinner etc.) so I’m guessing the final cost of the wedding will be quite a bit more…
There’s no way 30k is considered budget. It’s misleading at best to make that claim. People are really struggling and to pretend you’re not spending a lot of money unnecessarily is sad

My wedding cost less than $200. I have been married going on 49 years and I’m glad it’s not about fancy weddings and fanfare Keeping God in a marriage is what counts the MOST

It is clearly really difficult to have an inexpensive wedding (while being able to tick off so many boxes), sounds like it will be magical! I am also curious about the cost of an engagement shoot (or two 😉), rings, wedding party gifts, etc.
The budget blew my mind. But if you can afford it go for it. We had a covid wedding so obviously things didn’t go to plan but we spent under $1500 total. And $1200 was my dress (that I didn’t get to wear). So glad we didn’t go big.
That is really impressive and definitely on the extreme end. Outside of a worldwide pandemic, most weddings involve a meal and that alone is going to be a couple thousand
I think it’s crazy to spend anymore than $5,000 grand on a wedding. Seems so wasteful for one day. Unless you are rich, I don’t understand how people can even afford it.
My wedding was $1000 dollars for 150 guests but we had lots of volunteers. Seperate from that(with alterations and shoes) my dress was also $1000 😅. But not too shabby at $2000 total.
@chettajohnson5261 depends on what you do and what favors you can pull :) my father in law is a lobster fisherman, so we had lobster. My aunt owns a rearaurant so I got a deal on a lot of ground beef and did burgers for people who didn't want lobster. My cousin is a chef so he cooked it all and we paid him with whisky, and the auxiliary did salads. I made my own cake, and we got the dishes from thrift stores ;)
My parents INSISTED on taking care of the meal themselves. We were originally just going to do cake and punch. We really wanted a low key wedding anyway.
Oh wow it does add up fast and definitely covid has impacted that so many vendors are still trying to recover from the pandemic and replace what was lost and that’s a shame for everyone but you can’t blame them it’s been really tough.

thanks for sharing your exact budget! my fiance and I are currently planning at the beginning stages of wedding planning and trying to decide the type of venue and how many guests we'd like. so many vendors will not get you the cost upfront and it's SO helpful to have a REALISTIC idea of what all of these details will cost. Loveeee your videos and honesty as always!! Please don't take my comment the wrong way, just want to share an observation. Oh wow, I'm soooo surprised by your prices to be honest. We did our wedding last year in California Wine Country proper at a winery (booked out the entire winery for a full evening) with a Michelin-Starred Chef for dinner catering and my pricing (with all the vendors) was just a touch more expensive than yours (~$50k). Our wedding guest list was approximately 110 people. I know anything wine country is expensive but looking at your budget, it looks like your wedding seems pretty pricey.
wow.. that is probably California pricing, we did our daughters wedding and reception for about 8,000 that includes dress and our clothes..
I'm in CA and didn't spend much more than 8k. Granted that was 15 years ago.

Wow I’m shocked at these prices 😅 Including my dress, we spent about $10,000. I got all my flowers from Trader Joe’s and my bridesmaids and I had a girls night making our own bouquets the night before. It was so fun! My husband and I made the centerpieces together too! I am so glad we DIYed everything. **Oh and this was for a guest list of 105 people at a gorgeous 1920s hotel! Food included! Basically the majority of the money was spent on food and venue and everything else we did ourselves.
We got married in 2008, our wedding was 7k which included the food, full bar, venue, tuxes, my dress, my ring, dj. My parents paid 5k of it, there was roughly 60 people. Our honeymoon was in San Francisco and that was about 3k for 2 days.

They’re not doing a honeymoon because they are going to Paris shortly before their wedding

They are doing something more low key in the US that’s special to them one week since they have the big Paris trip during December then the other week they’re gonna stay at home getting all settled in together as a married couple without any distractions.

My wedding planner was a friend who volunteered but she coordinated the rehearsal and how people walk down. She also coordinated the bridal party going in to the reception and watched set up of the reception.
MOST wedding planners handle logistics of the day + month of, often consult on contracts and can tell you want to ask or clarify with a vendor, will help you manage your budget and help find vendors within budget, they make the timeline and of course run the rehearsal and wedding day of. I paid around $4k for my wedding planner and she did all of the above and I am not a part time coordinator as well. It was well worth the money to not be stressed and handling logistics the day of.
I know and respect that you’re keeping things private, I certainly appreciate how much you’re making public, but I also noticed you did not put the price of your wedding gown in there for inquiring minds, L O L. But your plans sounds soooo romantic!

She did pay for her after-party dress herself (if I'm remembering correctly) which was I think $500. Plus shoes and stuff so that is probably what she meant at the end when she said a few hundred dollars on other things. I'm guessing altogether with tips her full budget might end up something like $35k?
@WorkingWifeLife um not being rude but if the after party dress is $500, then it can't be a few hundred dollars for other things. There's other missing items not accounted for such as the bridal "tennis club" sweatshirts. Pre rehearsal dinner dress and outfit and jewellery and hair and make up.
I just think we all have to realise that for the rest of us, this would be an even more expensive wedding, as we haven't had all the free sponsor gifting or discount for services.
I personally initially thought that a budget wedding would be something under 10K, but to each their own.

My son just married and it was a 250 persons attending with 3 food carts and it was super easy and people loved going when they wanted to for food.
If they quote you a price why do you have to tip them? Isn’t everything included in the price they give? Never heard of tipping a set price??

Please don't juse your wedding to vloge, just enjoy the beautiful day together, it is the start and stepping stone fore the rest of your life together, and stress and CZcams isn't worth to deal with, CZcams can be your work in every day not in the most werry important days as a wedding.
My friend didn't want to hire a fotograf at her wedding, so she bugt a lot of desposibel Camara that have 1 film indside, she bought 1 Camara fore everyone of ther gest and asked people to snap some pictures, it was fun and all thoes pictures was amazing to see after they was prossesed and brought home.

Have you thought about doing your boudoir shoot the day after your wedding? I'm unsure if you're both 'wait till after marriage' cuties but it could be more comfortable to cross that bridge in private before the photographer suggests like shirtless in lingerie side boob or from behind options, and the wedding day is already stressful enough as it is. Then again you may be up for the 'in the moment rush of excitement' kind of photos.
All of you negative people who are commenting on how much her wedding is costing her need to be quiet. Jordy and her are paying for the entire wedding themselves, so if they want to spend $100,000 on a wedding, it is their prerogative.

I know you often comment that this is your second wedding in five years and you experience guilt about people buying gifts, etc. But this is Jordie's first wedding, isn't it? I don't think people would begrudge you doing any of those things that you feel .... just a thought ... maybe don't dwell on this being your second wedding, I'm willing to bet most people don't feel about it how you do, but maybe focus on that this is Jordy's first and so his friends and family would just be happy to celebrate you guys
