About The Route and Film:
The Oregon Backcountry Discovery Route (ORBDR) is a 750-mile, multi-day off-pavement ride designed for adventure and dual-sport motorcycles. Starting in the high deserts of the southeast and exploring north through ancient pine forests and into the rugged mountains of the Cascade Range, challenges include lava rocks, silt, sand, and arduous mountain roads. From sagebrush steppe and hot springs, to caverns and glaciated volcanoes, riders are guided into remote territories that reveal many of the state’s natural wonders, providing prime sightseeing and recreational opportunities. With stunning views throughout and terrain that is certain to test your riding skills and endurance, the ORBDR is one of the best ways to discover the backcountry of Oregon.
About Backcountry Discovery Routes:
Backcountry Discovery Routes® (BDR®) is a non-profit organization that creates off-highway routes for dual-sport and adventure motorcycle travel. We have introduced a new route with free GPS tracks for the community every year since 2010.
Routes can be downloaded from our website at www.ridebdr.com
Our work includes rider education, safety campaigns and promoting responsible travel for motorcyclists traveling in the backcountry.
Our volunteer-powered organization works with agencies and land managers to keep trails and remote roads open for motorcycling.
Each route generates new tourism that delivers sustainable economic relief to less-advantaged rural communities. This creates local stakeholders who will help fight to keep access for dual-sport and adventure motorcycles in these incredible backcountry areas.

God bless all of you but as an old man I really hope to see more young ladies taking this route in life. It makes good human beings.
LOVE IT! And Ashley is awesome. “I got passed by a frickin Harley”. 😂😂. Thanks to her for leading the charge to pick up garbage and nails. We need more of that. Thank you.
Hats off to the unsung heros, the film 🎥 crew. Being ahead of the group, behind the group, capturing all the pivotal moments, despite all that still being able to store and catalog all the footage with out screwing up. 👌👍👏💪
You don't know what a real hero is. Making a marketing film is not "heroic".
@@johnhenry3536 I'm not going to argue with you. But I'll say this. The camera crew rides with these guys in front stop film them coming, get back on the bike ride, catch up and do it allover again while organizing footage at the end of each day. Note again, the film crew rides, not all drive. Have a nice day.
I la.

After years of working across the nation, I've been suffering continual wanderlust, since I have not explored my home state I've been loving this video series,
I can't wait to get a adventure bike and spend the rest of my life riding all over Oregon
Another great Documentary and great to see a Honda XR650R eating up the miles 😎
Ashley is an awesome human being!!! Great video Sterling!!
Great job Sterling and the whole crew.
Absolutely awesome. On the Bucker List. Thanks to Sterling as well for his contributions. Ashley rocks! We need more women involved in the sport.
Why do we need to try and force women to get involved?
@@BH-ux2hm No one said force?
@@SunSpireSunny If women don't naturally want in, what is the point of trying to force the numbers up? Just try and get more people involved without worrying about whats between their legs.

I don't ride yet - but seeing this is inspiring me 100000% - Thanks guys and greetings from Alberta, Canada.
Always good to see Sterling's awesome work.
Great job Sterling!
Oregon is a beautiful State. I live in Northern California, but two of my daughters went to college in Oregon. My wife and I have been all over the State following our daughters as they played collegiate volleyball. We have also vacationed along the Oregon coast. I hope to ride the ORBDR someday. It will be my first choice of BDRs. That was a great video.
Great to see folks having fun on the CB500X and DR650. No need to spend 20k on a bike to have fun adventures!
I want a 500x , got a 250 rally and it's sweet af for closer to home.
I visit Oregon every year to ride, a friend lives there and we do these, So Beautiful 😍 Oregon, Washington State and California best riding!!
Great job. To all who participated , helped and supported thanks. Sterling Norlen, good job and to all the same.
Sterling Noren did a great job of his camera work.
Thanks friends for sharing such a beautiful BDR. Outstanding presentation of a stunning route. Sterling just keeps doing what he does. He makes it look easy. Its not.
Excellent footage.. thanks Sterling!
Man these guys need to setup a BDR up in British Columbia. With such limited amount of public land in the United States compared to the unlimited amount up here in Canada they would have a hay day
Sweet got somthing to watch this evening 😁
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽well done!
Just picked up a Norden 901 Expedition and now only need the time to ride the OR BDR.
Cannot wait. 🏍️💨
Wow. This was a really good watch. The filming, editing, story telling and crew were all awesome. Been street riding motorcycles since I was a teen, but just got a DR650 for some more off road fun. I dream of a trip like this one day!
Go Ashley!!! Leading by example making the spaces we love and enjoy better than we found them!!
Great job Sterling and the whole crew.. Always good to see Sterling's awesome work..
I had a KTM 890 Rally, which I had rejected back to the supplying dealer in the UK 🇬🇧 and I’m back with the real Warrior- Honda XR650R. The best dual sport bike ever made in my opinion!
Looked like a windy ride! I bet you guys were so stoked to find that camp on the river. The aerial shots looked amazing. Looking forward to the wrap up!
Absolutely fantastic work...cheers!
What the great journey... this is what the Adventure machine for...
Thank you boss, for inspiring me that age is not an obstacle to being able to adventure like me who is over 50 years old. keep the spirit
Fields, OR is basically a stones throw from the Alvord desert flats. Worth a side trek.
Awesome video guys! I hope to get up there this spring mabe summer.
Great job to the film crew. Good direction Sterling.
This is a very wonderful video of a fairly expensive motorcycle being generously covered in pride and full of scratches, but enjoying the adventure without worrying about that at all. When I see things like this, I have a strong admiration for the United States.
In Japan, there are few people who enjoy such bold adventure bikes, and there are no fields. Oregon is the place to move! I don't speak English though! lol lol lol
Thanks for taking us all on the adventure with you.
Great group and goals.👍✌️💞🌞
Yeah. Need more of these. Who's going. I want to go. An do you thing I could do it on my klx230.
Let’s do this!
230👍🏽
🏍️💨
Looks awesome. I cant wait to try some sections!
Very nice video... looks like a great route.... :)
FABULOUS and AUG 2023 it’s on like DONKEY KONG.
Great job Stirling! 👍👍
Great movie Sterling, the filming, editing and storytelling is top notch.
Greatings from Sweden!
What a fantastic journey and the scenery was epic. Well done everyone for a brilliant ride
Another fantastic BDR documentary! I love living vicariously through these men and women. So much fun!! And Sterling's work is always great. Cheers!
Awesome !! my son and i are doing the ORBDR & first few section of the WABDR up to Ellensberg/Home , Aug 7th - ......... we dont need to be back to work till the 15th , already have the first 2 nights boooked cannot wait !! weve done the WABDR a few times living along it & the top half (or so) of the ID-BDR last year
What an absolute joy to watch. Thanks for the time, dedication, planning, commitment and hard work that went into not only making this wonderful video but the route itself. To everyone involved in BDR organization THANK YOU!!! Being ambassadors for this “sport” that we love is greatly appreciated especially in these times when funding and environmental concerns for keeping our recreational areas open seem to be in constant jeopardy. 👏 You are doing amazing work and I am especially appreciative of the contributions you have made and encouragement in keeping small towns afloat. Keep up the phenomenal work!!! 😃
Yes very awesome 👍 loved it well done looked like a great group of rider's
I cant think of any other project, team, adventure i want to be apart of more for video production. Top Tiere motorcycle media content. Thank you. Hope to join you on the back roads one day.
Truly enjoy the movie, looks you all had a blast.
Looking forward to doing the ORBDR some day with my Land Rover Defender...looks AWESOME !!!!
This probably the best video that I’ve ever seen. Great job 👏
It’s awesome seeing riding in my own backyard that I didn’t know existed! Awesome video and looks like such a fun ride!
Fantastic trip
A RE acertou mais uma vez, escolheu a melhor imperadora para um futuro lançamento. Ótimo retorno, se divertae nos dibirta também. 😂😂😂😂
Beautiful photography Sterling.
So cool to see Ash on this route, considering how close to home she is.I.m so happy to see the diversity of this routes makeup in the ridership and the routes. I hope to be able to ride these routes soon, so Thank You to the whole team thatt plans, routes and films these expeditions that inspire the rest of us to get out explore on our two wheels...
Genial saludos cordiales desde Patagonia Chile..
This was a great film! Nicely done just like the UT BDR! My buddies and I started the UT BDR last fall but with the record snowfall, we only were able to do about half of the trip! Continuing it in a couple of weeks. We have talked about doing the OR BDR next summer so this was awesome to see!
Another amazing adventure and fantastic film by Sterling.
I am particularly interested since I will be moving to OR next year.
Thanks for the video I always enjoy watching them thank you so much nice job❤❤
Im gonna do it on a goldwing
Oh man. My first ❤. Owned this for almost 6 years and 80k km. Gave it to my friend in 2008 as I had to move out of state. He used for another 1.5L km. Now lying peacefully as registration expired and needs some expensive overhaul
I love watching this BDR-films. To bad I am too old to give it a try. As I am from Sweden it takes to much effort.
Dont look at the bikes they riding, you can do this ride on a single cylinder bike ( 250cc, 300cc, 450cc..) that not weight much. You can do it.
IM going, cant wait
Nice ride and I learn something about long ride...beutifull places that you gonna stop for your food talking it's other it's good I like it so much....
Another great adventure and even better story that sand looked like a blast brother 👊
Wowee. This wants me to come over and ride this route. And then also figure out how to get this BDR thing going here in South Africa.
Nice job.
One correction, at about 1:09:55 the caption indicates "Mount Adams". It is not.
Looks more like the backside of Mount Hood.
Best docu film you guys have put out!
Yay Sterling!
Super fucking awesome
This is one Incredible video. Videography as well as editing and music is beyond awesome!
Amazing ride!!!! Live Aloha, Hawaii' BdR please.....
Looks like a blast!! Ain’t going to tackle until next year. August 4th doing Route 5 Walla Walla to Lakeview. Appreciate you guys so much. Really glad to see you all didn’t have any electric bikes that you were cramming down our throats lol. Don’t get me wrong if our infrastructure matched the technology & makes sense I would be a great voice for it
I will be riding this in September
Beautiful and inspiring all the way around. Congrats on a stunning film, and thanks for the work you're doing! Showing the great outdoors in ways that move people outside is the best way to ensure these lands are protected for generations to come. Hey, would love to know more specifics about the bikes & gear, any lessons learned, etc. Oh, and don't sweat the haters. Good grief...
Tremendous footage that you’ve captured! That’s some tough riding over Hart Mountain. Hopefully you had some burgers in Plush. They make great ones.
Awesome
Great video.
josss ... mister
Amazing ❤😢
Though I would not put my personal 1250 through this particular course😂 wondering how much it would be to rent one to do it. Fantastic content, thank you!
I was genuinely surprised to see the average bike size be above middle weight ADV. Gives me more confidence to try out my Tiger 900.
30:57 - slow wayyyy down. Best part of this documentary
Oh puffy muffy!
This was the best movie yet! Great cinematography, editing, and music. Loved it, now I go to go ride it!
i'l ready subscribe you guys. i hope i can do like you doing, absolutely awesome. . so having fun to ride with friends. and i hope i have bike like this to explore my country
Someone had the good sense to take along a Pig. ❤
MotOZ is OZ for Australia and pronounced accordingly 😊
Great video
Great Vid. 👍👍 BMW really messed up on their Adventure Wheels. Too vulnerable.
THat was great video... I could listen you for hours...
You should start your own channel
‘ol boy at 9:09 is definitely a Malheur sympathizer. 😂
Great video! I'm not to the end yet. Curious? What are you all running for Comms? I run a Sena S20 and for our group we seem to have alot of issues with connectivity. Looks like Ashley is maybe running a GMRS setup? Thanks!!
I have been through Denio Junction many manufacturers times when they have NO gas😊
If you sold dvd’s, proceeds could go to supporting the BDR.

Just watched your video. Will be riding Hatcher Pass in Aug. Riding from NC. Is any part of the road impassable with rain.
Trying to decide if I'm going to use my soft bags, or hard bags on this trip. Trip includes Deadhorse, and McCarthy.
Thanks
It would be interesting to know what make/size bikes were used.
Is there a suggested route to ride all of the BDR in one shot. We'd be coming in from NZ, and are hoping to tackle these over one riding season.
❤❤
Great video! BDR is such a great concept! I really want to complete all of the BDR routes on a Zero DSR/X. Are there charging locations that would facilitate completing the routes on an electric motorcycle?
probably not. The one electric rider I talked with in Leavenworth could barely make it from Seattle to the Safeway there, about 117 miles on Hwy 2. The only charging stations are all in towns along the highways.
@@alexmacdonald258 Thanks for the reply, that’s too bad. Maybe in a few years it will improve.
Ottimo! Grazie...ma domanda che casco è il grigiore sul manubrio?? Ciaooooo
Days Gone in Oregon? Without Zombies? 🤔😳😎
