100 Watt Solar Panel. £22 Chinese. Really?

I bought this solar panel from china as I did not believe it could produce 100 watts for 22 pounds! I only managed 25 watts. This is still enough to power a phone or a very small solar light, long as there is good solar radiation.

Good little solar panel if you are charging your phone on the beach. Otherwise, get a used solar panel that's being decommissioned. I bought some 20 year old 150 watt Kyocera and Sharp panels for very low price and they still generate really good power (80-90% of original spec).

25w is better than I expected. My 100w panels (large heavy duty real panels) only get like 50w max. If that thing was scratch resistant and weather proof that would be a good deal actually.

25watts for a 22£ panel is horribly expensive. In the US you can get new panels for £0.28 to £.0.39 per watt of solar. That's three times cheaper than this "cheap" aliexpress panel.

  • @Dutchwatchdude

The seller claims it will provide 250 watt over a whole day.... I did open a dispute on Ali and explains that that is not the way it works... Seller did respond that you need a really sunny day to get 250 watt... Like said it's cheap en it does charge a battery but not with 250watt but around 30 watt... I did ask a 15 refund that is half, charger works fine and panel does work just not as advertised.

Maybe you could reach 250 watt per day in space. But for us that's stuck at this rock it would probably take 50 hours of sun in a day to get the 250 watt. Atmosphere sucks 🙄.

Just bought something similar. I do not trust the charge controller one little bit, for all I know it is discharging my battery rather than anything else, but the panel itself sited vertically in my window on an overcast day is putting out about 7.5 watts which is about par for "poundland" quality I suppose. I think I will invest in a decent controller of known quality and experiment and when I can afford it get a properly rated panel.

i hope you got your money back. I came across your channel when I was looking for solar shed videos. I've recently taken out a battery out of my van which wasn't holding its charge that great any more. I'm hoping to hook that up to my 30W panel and be able to run some 12V LED strip lights in the shed at least.
