- After diving into "The Appeal of AJR" back in November, y'all flooded the comments section with one major request: Tally Hall! Known for their quirky vibes and a museum called Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum that inspired their first album, these guys have sparked some serious curiosity. I'm stepping into uncharted territory here. This is the first time in the series that I'm venturing into a musical realm I've never explored before.
Tally Hall only dropped two albums, one in 2005 and another in 2011.
So, let's dive deep into the world of Tally Hall with my infamous series, "The Appeal." We're gonna dissect what makes these guys tick and why they've captured the hearts of so many fans.

@@beetlebat the insane thing is that every member insists to this day that tally hall will be back together and another album will be made despite them all having dedicated seperate career paths and admitting that the very last time they were all in the same place together was on their final concert in 2011

this was actually super interesting to watch. ive always considered my hyperfixation of tally hall just something like "haha what a cute silly band !!!!!" and now whenever someone asks why i like tally hall so much i can just whip out this video and go on a very sophisticated rant 💞😁

I've been down a TallyHall rabbit hall thanks to my teen (aka Frog) who used to play Mind Electric on their ukelele some years ago. For some reason it decided to lodge in my brain a couple of weeks ago and refused to leave. From there and a bit of Wiki-ing I discovered the connection between Miracle Musical and TH and they've been pretty much on repeat play ever since.

could you do That Handsome Devil one day, maybe this one's _a bit_ different but it's kind of a rock band with a mostly "underground" and "strange" vibe and pretty serious topic (you've probably guessed it), some songs that I often see people mention are Charlie's Inferno and Elephant Bones (I personally like the latter).
btw that was a pretty good Tally Hall analysis you made, Banana Man is one of my favourite songs (and the reason I got into Tally Hall and listen to them alot lol). Apologize if my wordings is pretty wired and convoluted, I don't usually talk to other people that much 😅

🖤🤍 I only found Tally Hall about 3 years ago, but ever since, I haven't been able to stop listening, and they are now my favorite band. As for my favorite song, i can't decide between 'Welcome to Tally Hall' and 'Spring and a storm'. And im still learning more about them every day! ❤️💛💚💙🩶

I saw them last year, they put on a great show. Their music often has a simialr tongue in cheek attitude but its also a lot more sincere than what Tally Hall made.
Jonathan Coulton also makes music quite similar to Tally Hall, and Flight of the Concords, and They Might Be Giants

He is literally on the same level as Tally Hall, and also makes quirky kinda music sorta like Tally Hall. I recommend listening to his most recent and popular album Spirit Phone. He also has a whole career on his own, making Brodyquest, the Ultimate Showdown Of Ultimate Destiny, and the Mysterious Ticking Noise, and basically invented internet culture as we know it today.

I honestly think Tally Hall has a very interesting thing going with their idea of nothing. That having a kind of absurd run of lyrics with meaning behind it.
Even though I lost interest in this band I will forever say that Fate of the Stars is my favorite song

im sorry but i have to say that i dont really like how you do your band video essays. the last video essay that i watched from you was about will wood and you got some things wrong about him and it seemed like you did more surface level research than anything. maybe that was the aim of the video, to cover surface level knowledge about him, but i just want to say that MMMM did not name the mueseum after their album. some of the band members that used to live in the area wanted to pay tribute to that mueseum and so they named the album after the mueseum, not the other way around. it really sounds like youre doing tiktok level research ://///
