    The county crews are always the best. I'm known by most of them, I've been hanging around during leaf season for like at least 12-13 years lol so they all know me at this point

    They didn't have these vacuum trucks when I was a kid. Everyone in town would just burn their leaves, usually all around the same time. Literally couldn't go outside and play when they were burning because there was so much smoke in town you could suffer from smoke inhalation. So glad municipalities have pretty much banned burning leaves these days in my area.

    Interesting. Not done like that anywhere around here. They do have a special day every other week that they pick up limbs and yard waste. Personally, I just run the mower without the bag and chop them up.

    To all you residents who throw sticks and rocks and anything other than leaves into these leaf piles please please stop.. I know it seems like it can suck it up but damages the vacuum and clogs it.. its just not meant for it..

      Yeah, left a big pile right @ 1st corner, no cars blocking, I dunno neither.
      They do this in my current area; sure bests bagging; had enough of that!

    • @northernvirginiagarbagetrucks
      @northernvirginiagarbagetrucks  Před rokem +5

      This is the way the county has been doing things for decades, and like Brian said, the only other option would be bagging it all, which would be a nightmare. Pretty much every municipality that has vacuum collection does it this way too, and there are no trucks out there that I know of that have two vacuums, one for each side of the street. That pile Brian is talking about was left on purpose, because it was mostly brush (not accepted in the leaf truck) and not leaves. They had already come down the other side of that street.

    Why is watching leaves being sucked up or snow being blown so cathartic, any phesaciatrests out there that can answer this question? That's the way Ricky Ricardo produced psychiatrist.

    Something is wrong when the driver knowingly sees a pile of leaves and passes it up. What kind of business is being run. Where's a supervisor???

    • @northernvirginiagarbagetrucks
      @northernvirginiagarbagetrucks  Před rokem

      The joke's on you - that driver is the supervisor for this area :) Also some leaf piles are contaminated with other yard trimmings that are not allowed in the leaf truck, so those piles will be skipped.

  • @miamibeachvf
    @miamibeachvf Před rokem

    I see these videos of these big piles of leaves and people who bag them up and pay the trash company to take them away I don't understand why they're not turning into valuable mulch and spread it in their yard

    • @northernvirginiagarbagetrucks
      @northernvirginiagarbagetrucks  Před rokem +2

      I can’t speak for other areas, but Arlington does turn these leaves directly into mulch, which is then available for county residents to use.
