I dunno, you said "the mini drones don't get damaged very much because they're so small" and I didn't really agree with that. Not sure if that's what you meant :) I can do plenty of damage to my mini 3 in a what seemed like an insignificant crash that renders it unflyable. I had a little Blade Mini SR 120 or something.... very small heli, that I could crash however many times I wanted and never seem to hurt it. But I had to make sure to close the "throttle" to 0% before I hit the ground or it would shear the drive gear. But if I remembered to turn the power off right before I hit, it would survive anything!

Well, you said there were five reasons you would discuss but you actually covered six. After the fifth and "final" section on prop noise you then went on to discuss price and how it was one of the main reasons you made this video. I suppose this could be considered a mistake.

I've flown them all and if your gonna use a mini dji use the mini 2. It's so easy modded and the software is so easy and available to mod and delete restrictions and your able to add huge batteries getting 59 minutes of in air flight the mini 2 is the way to go. Mini 3 sucks it ain't worth a crap thats why the mini 4 replaced it in less then a year. The signal and dependability of the mini 3 was awful. I just sold my mini 2 after buying a air 3 and I kiss that air 2. I just couldn't afford to hang onto both.
I picked up a mini 3 pro a couple of weeks ago, great to fly and I absolutely love the integrated screen, no wires or phone required.

Starting with a 10 USD indoors, nervous, little drone, an E58 was ditched... Going for a "real drone" the Mini 3 Pro and it's RC was bought. Never regretted it. Getting accustomed, more foto capability was asked for. Due to the nature of the flights a Mavic 3 Pro and RC Pro was bought due to the cameras.
Mini 3 Pro is a really good beginners drone that's always useful. For close area recordings a wide angel is now available. Such a lens for Mavic costs 3 times that price. Having full certificate a few PLUS batteries are also used.

Thank you for the great video content. I’m going to be placing my order for the D4MP (DJI 4 Mini Pro) very soon. It fits so many use cases. I have learned about myself over the past drones that I have owned. I know what my use case is. I need a drone that will “fly itself”. I want to be able to have it follow me, whether from the side, front or back.
I want gesture control if possible. I just love a drone that responds to my movements and flys itself. But with that said, I do want to be able to take up a controller and fly it, recording what it sees from a camera perspective. I also like the idea of FPV and will be pairing up the latest DJI Goggles with the D4MP and enjoying “flight” purely for the sake of experiencing it from a first person view. Fingers crossed that it all comes together!

Been out of camera drone 4+ years only fly fpv this looks nice so no real id ? is there a geo fence or can i just fly when ever i want ?

After being in the Drone Business 10 years, I can say the Mini 3 Pro is the way to go. It's great for indoor flight, too. Plus if you get the controller with the built in screen it doubles as a tablet. I have my portfolio of videos on there and it's a snap to show potential clients your work.

Excellent review. And I did get the Mini 3 Pro with Smart Remote for my spouse to complement the Mini 4 Pro Combo with the Smart Remote I got for myself (from your other Mini 4 Pro review). Now it will be much easier to take both with us on vacation to "..fly under the radar..." Still waiting for the remote ID's I ordered long ago for my other drones but I'm comfortable that both the 3 and the 4 pro will fit the bill for us when we go on our vacations and just general everyday use. Thanks for taking the time and making the effort to produce this fine review!

Thank you for making a simple video and helping to make a choice. Just ordered a Refurbished Mini 3 Pro with controller. I tried by friends Mini 3 and the Pro has so many more features for a beginner. I dont intend to become Pro with this but just to take some incredible outdoor shots as I do a lot of hiking and cycling. Having the hand held is perfect and better than using your phone. The big tip was go to the DJI Refurbished Site! I could not get myself to pull the trigger for a new one with controller. Got a good price on a Refurbished with controller. Big Thanks.

Believe it or not I’m a very casual drone flyer and I purchased the mini three Pro when it came out and I have not had as much time to fly as I would like and I felt like I was missing out on the latest tech when the mini four pro came out. Now I feel better about hanging onto the mini three pro and enjoying it as it fits my needs.

I just bought the Mini 3 Pro a couple months ago. It's my "backup" and a drone I'm willing to lose in riskier flying environments. It's also going to be my drone for operations over people. Hopefully getting my waiver approved this spring.
Coming from the OG mini 1. The M3P was the drone i bought on release day. It still the drone i pack when going away. Got the mavic 3 pro for the more drone work that i do and because i living in a very windy area. It a shame that DJI don't update it anymore with new things.

I bought a refurbished mini 3 pro RC with DJI CARE and it bricked during and update. I had a new one in less than a week. I have had no issues since. Well worth the savings.

🤔Where you misspoke is alluding me. But I do agree with everything you say in the video! I bought a Mini 3 Pro late last year even though I have the Mavic 3 Pro. And it's nice to be able to also use the Mini 3 Pro with the RC Pro.
I have a mini 3 pro and love that little thing. Now that some of the third party apps like Litchi have worked through most of the SDK for it. This unlocks a lot of functionality that you would not get just with the fly app.
I have to say the dynamic range is better on the Mini 4 Pro than the M3P. There's a lot of features on the M4P that I wish I had, home point on the screen. better controller, cruise control, obstacle avoidance , bottom led light, etc. Whenever I take video or photos on a darker day, mixed sun though I use my Autel Nano Plus. It's sat lock is awesome and color science is so good on auto. My flies flawlessly and I don't color grade at all so out of camera is what I'm after. I do like the built in display with the M3P though. I will probably upgrade to the M5P, unless the M4P goes on sale. Autel missed the boat on a built in screen. DJI tech is awesome.

The original DJI Mavic Air is still awesome. My con is carrying the battery charger and wifi range.
Also the DJI FPV is really good if one wants to get into tricks.

I have a remote ID question. I have a mini 3 pro and my 107. Is there a way to turn remote ID if I’m using the standard battery when I’m flying under 107 to stay legal?
In Controls max out the 'angular velocity' for playing. Standard battery in a Mini 3 (not s pro) I get 4-6km of travel-distance in S mode usually [I'm always near 600-800ft VLOS]. I Kinda wish they sold a version with an X wing setup instead of the D-cat, if that would make the drone fly more freely. It seems like they could design it where if the props in an X configuration would be in view of the camera then maybe the zoom could be high enough to allow for some pics with no X-config props in the image, though maybe the props would disrupt the vision-flight-controls or whatever the tech.
I think they want these drones to be more of a "flying camera tripod" than anything with performance in mind. I looked at it as a "K" setup :) EDIT: I like it... the K-Wing

It would’ve been under $500 if I chose the rc-n1 but the rc put it at $585. I’ve wanted a dji drone for YEARS and I finally order one BUT, I figured I go the cheaper route just in case I don’t fly it as much as I want to.

Bought a Mini 3 Pro on sale a couple weeks ago. First DJI Mini I’ve owned. Can see flying it more than my Mavic 3 Pro just because it’s Soooo much quieter than the Mavic. The Mini 3 doesn’t draw near as much attention. Haven’t taken a lot of vids with it yet but looks like it’ll work just fine for home use. Obviously the Mavic has a better camera but the Mini 3 is pretty good.
After watching this I was about to buy DJI refurbished mini 3 pro, then before I did, mini 4 pro showed up in the refurbished lineup.
Upon checking out, it tells me the mini 4 pro refurb will take 5 weeks to deliver, while brand new mini 4 pro will take a week. Is it worth it to wait 4 weeks to save $230? No. So I ended up getting new mini 4 pro fly more plus.
Other than the slow shipping on refurbs, it’s also the mini 3 pro controller with screen will not be compatible if I upgrade to mini 4 pro. Also I know with mini 4 pro and the bigger plus battery, I’ll have the remote ID to satisfy flying under Part 107

The only reason would make me want to replace my 3 with 4 is WAYPOINTS without Hyperlapse / Cruise Control etc... as a solo traveler, hands off flying is a HUGE need
After receiving a refurbed Mini 3 Pro yesterday as an upgrade to the Mini 2, it is disappointing to see that apparently the RC and the battery hub do not support fast charging, as the Mini 2 does. Can anyone confirm?
I have the air 2 and its amazing but its still pretty loud. My dad just got a mini 3 pro and I was shocked how quiet it was. Just ordered the mini 3 pro today. =D
I picked up a broken mini 3 pro for 200$ with the rc remote. I almost have it back to good as new with 65$ in parts later( new propellers, top body housing, and new gimbal metal housing). Love the integrated screen in the controller. This will be a pretty big upgrade from a mini 2 for me. Especially in the camera department.
And I forgot to mention it came with a battery as well!
Those prices are worth it. I tried learning to fly on $40 drones, then got the mavic mini. You get what you pay for and under $800 for mini 3 pro. It's worth it

It’s the tablet holder from Tripltek. It only works with the Tripltek tablets.
Just pulled the trigger and bought a refurbished mini 3 pro. Also sprung for the 2 year dji care so if I crash or lose it while flying I'm covered. Also my coworker who turned me on a to dji drones and has multiple drones himself said my refurbished drone flies and sounds exactly like a new one.

The mini 3 pro was the first to really make an awesome portable drone, and I loved it when it came out. I still have one. I haven't touched it once since getting the mini 4 pro. The flight experience is better with the mini 4 pro, and the mini 4 pro is better in every way. I don't think there is one thing that the mini 3 pro does better than the mini 4 pro.
Every small complaint that I had about the mini 3 pro was addressed in the mini 4 pro. These are the things I use...
- Stream to youtube with the controller with a screen
- Better color profiles (HLG is so much more useful than DLog-M and D-Cinelike)
- AR guide when using return to home
- 360 degree obstacle avoidance
- Better Active Track
- Waypoints
- Higher frame rates
- Same camera quality as Air 3.
- Night Mode
Besides saving money, there is no reason to get a mini 3 pro now, and when trying to save money there are better options I think.
The DJI Mini 4 Pro is pretty much better in every way. If I wanted to save money, I would get a regular mini 3. I get that the mini 3 pro WAS my favorite drone (I had 2), and since its been out for 2 years, of course I have a lot of flight time on it. I would bet 2 years from now, you would see that its flight time drops, and mini 4 pro flight time goes up, as its only been around for a few months.
Buying two of the same exact drones seems like a brilliant plan to me. Thanks for your expertise.

Here in Canada the mini4P @ Costco comes with the smaller flight time batteries. I’m assuming to keep in under 250g
the DJI stuff is hard for a new user to work through, as the sales adverts dont break things down. ie DJI Mini 3 Fly More Combo Plus with DJI RC ... seems there is an RC pro. In Australia, the mini 3 and mini 4 are about the same price, however, they play with non standard terminology. I wasnt a mini 3 with the LCD screen on the remote. Sounds like i need the RC pro as the remote has 1080p.

I only have the mini 2, most important is staying connected, stability, camera, most aren’t flying a mile away. I think most importantly is batter life, we must consider going up and back time, because 30 minutes of flying time isn’t being spent actual flying. So yes mini 2 still good in your opinion, thanks

Surprised you didn’t mention m3p broadcasts RID with either the small or large batteries. Whereas the m4p has no RID with small battery and only broadcasts RID with large battery. To me that is a big distinction right now.
I bought a Mini 3 pro refurbished, from DJI, with a factory warranty plus was able to buy the extra warranty also.

No, the RC2 is not backward compatible with drones prior to the Mini 4 Pro.
Im getting ready to buy my 1st mini but this whole RID BS is really confusing me and is making me consider getting a older mini drone like a mini 2 or 3, if like to get the pro with the rc. But im shying away from it too at the same time because of the RID rule change is confusing to me ad a new recreational flyer. I saw that the mini 3 pro isnt affected by the RID when using a standard battery. But its still confusing
Just my thoughts.
Because of the international drone laws, all drones are now in categories.
So instead of drone customers buying a drone based on the most expensive being, the biggest and most expensive drone.
Now the trend is to have a sub 250g drone with a camera which is nearly as good as the camera in an Air 3, and the Air 3 has a camera which is nearly as good as the Mavic 3 Pro in some situations.
Keep in mind that some buyers in some locations maybe limited to just 250 gram drones.
Regarding Obstacle avoidance, is useful. Just remrmber you can use propeller gaurds, if you think you are going to fly in risky areas.
Nobody talks about this.
So I think the Mini series is a very important and popular segment of the drone market place.
However I would love to see
1. A miniature Dji Inspire to be sub 900 grams with inter changeable lenes. ( I am just dreaming)
2. HDR for panoramas.
3. Focus stacking
4. In camera colour profiles for different lighting situations.

I upgraded from the Mini 3 Pro to the Mini 4 Pro primarily to get waypoints and cruise control. After using these features with the bigger drones I couldn't resist when they came to the Mini line. That said, the Mini 3 Pro is a wonderful aircraft.
Oh, heck. I thought those would have been backported to the 3. It's just software.
@@markkempton4579 welcome to the Matrix coppertop! DJI has done this for years. To be fair, there may be some reason they can't do some of the more advanced features with the older models, or perhaps not as effectively. Unseen changes in sensors/processors/etc. could make some of these things not feasible/glitchy. Who knows?

Hi Russ I've been watching your your video since the day you posted it. My mini 3 is having some issues and I wanted to upgrade to mini 4 pro in which if I try it will tear my wallet apart. But the is giving me an offer for a brandnew mini 3 pro aircraft and the battery for a cool price since I my RC controller already.

At best buy it’s 600 for the one with the DJI Controller (the one with the screen). At least in the us rn.
Personally I'm hanging out for the M5P (could be waiting forever) , don't see the point of upgrading every two years for minor upgrades

Another advantage of the Mini 3 Pro is it isn’t impacted by the recent update with RID and battery size like the Mini 3 and Mini 4 Pro are.
😂 I would argue the complete opposite! I don't want RID on my drone and neither do the majority of hobbyists (non part 107) users.
@@thomza RID is now turned off on the MINI 3 if you're using the smaller battery. Mine updated January 31.
@@SlackerU That's what I said in an earlier comment. It's turned off for the Mini 3 but not the Mini 3 Pro. It's also turned off for the Mini 4 Pro. Must use smaller battery for RID to be turned off.
@@thomza As a Part 107 pilot, I need to comply with RID and I’m just saying that the advantages of the Mini 3 Pro not being impacted by this recent update on the Mini 3 and Mini 4 Pro and the battery selection, I’m happy not to have to purchase a RID module to mount in the drone. That’s all I’m saying.
@@thomza for Part 107 pilots, this is a problem. I need to have RID working regardless of what battery I use. If I still had the Mini 3 Pro I wouldn't have this problem, but now with the Mini 4 Pro I can't legally fly it with smaller batteries.
For all practicalities the Mini 3 NON Pro is one of the better drones per buck spent.
The specs aren’t very obvious, but at a photographer, not a videographer, I thought the mini 3 pro was 12mp, and the mini 4 was 48mp. I know the M3P lists 48mp, so maybe, but all the shoot modes only list 12mp.
I am glad I have rid on my m3p drone because normally I will fly with std battery and a landing gear to protect my camera/gimbal/props. The landing gear makes it over 250g.
I feel the FAA needs to clarify in a AR their statement in part 89,I think, about manufacturers who have turned on rid , then PIC cannot turn off. (expressed in part89 as a tradition state from on to off as on/off). That is clear and DJI is following that.
However everyone agrees that it is the PIC who is ultimately responsible and so has the final say in the equipment needed for a mission. If I have rid on my drone and I decide I need rid turned on. Then when I have a std battery I should be able to turn rid off/on as is (mission, weight, part 107, etc) needed.
Other airmen (crop dusters, etc) do not require rid (transponder) yet are not being kept from using one.
if the image quality is soo similar why not use it for real-estate? for the easier use and less noise
just remember if you get the mini 4, you get a controller that is already compatible with newer models that come out.

It’s very convenient, but I like having the incredibly bright screen of the Tripltek. I have pretty bad presbyopia, so I need a bright screen.

In general, do you still feel the Mini 3 Pro is a reasonable drone? I've listened to most of your videos on the 3 Pro and it seems like you like it. Anything new recently? Any other similar priced drones that you'd recommend? I know I can't afford the 4 Pro and am hoping the 3 Pro will at least get me into a quality DJI that I can continue my learning on. Just wanted to let you know that I was trying to support you and your family by purchasing a 51 drone hat, but I am having great difficulty with gear. Focus actually delivering said hat after they’ve been paid. Several emails later and still no hat I give up. I don’t know if you’ll get paid for this but I continue to wish you all the best.

I love creating b rolls flying backwards. I found if I fly high enough I won;t hit any trees with my Mini 2. Plus if I hit a tree...or a lake..I don't feel so bad.
Watching/creating live stream surely has it's perks. Thinking of doing live stream on some of my flights/adventures myself. No more editing long sessions..just click and film. Ezpz.

Remember riding in a car as a passenger looking out the side window and enjoying the countryside. That is what course lock does and DJI refuses to implement it since DJI GO 4. No, the DJI Mini Pro does not have it. That's why I just bought a used Phantom 4 Pro and would not even consider anything more recent.
I wonder why they got rid of terrain follow? I liked that feature on my Mavic Pro.
I just bought the mini 3 pro rcn1 fly more bundle at Costco for $600 in store even though the online price shows $669 the in store price was less as it is with many products they close them out for way under the advertised price.
So essentially a Software upgrade can fix our D-Cinelike to Dlog-M. But nope, buy the pro 4 instead. lol
If you own an RC PRO and say the Mavic 3 Pro as I do and looking at getting a Mini, make it the Mini3 Pro as it is compatible with the RC PRO.
(Mini4's are not)
That way you're getting more bang for your buck out of your RC PRO.
