Quite an interesting propaganda video. The video tried to portray that Jews were discriminated against and put in a ghetto. The fact is the Mellah is a neighborhood of the old medina of Casablanca. And their was no difference between it and the rest of the medina. Morocco was a poor country after independence and both populations were as poor.
Wrong ,Whether out of prejudice or protection, Jews living in Morocco were quarantined within the ghetto of Mellah as early as the 15th century.
Not all. They were rich jews Families. Many of jews liked to live in malah or old City because it was near for theirs shops. In Fes they lived near the palace or saouira was jews City. Also in the quantries they lived with the Peoples. All moroccains they traveled around Morocco the years when there did not rain.
Melah exist in many moroccan cities, not just Casablanca. Jews weren't secluded in those neighborhoods. They lived side by side by the rest of Moroccans.

I grew up in the 70s in mellah side by side by my fellow Moroccan, who happened to be Jews. We were like family. I called them aunts and uncles. I still remember aunt Hannah and her warm hugs, uncle Kwehen who was always kind to me to let me play with toys at his wearhouse, uncle Mardokh spicy and delicious sandwitches, Boutboul songs that filled our house... why you didn't mention those kind of stories and memories?
