Greenwich, the site of the original Royal Observatory... I don't suppose it was as lively there as this song is though. Maybe the fact that it's in the sky makes it more interesting? Well, Maribel and Renko seem to be having fun.

Someday, ZUN is going to release another game with a Phantasm stage. The boss will look suspiciously like Renko and have the ability to travel through time and space, and her boss theme will be this song. You can't convince me otherwise.
I can only say this: the boss theme won’t be this song, just as Mary the Magician isn’t Necrofantasia or Night Falls~Evening Star. However, it’ll have leitmotifs from Sumireko’s theme.
Tis a shame Touhou 17 was not the most earthshattering entry lore wise.

Tho y'know, Touhou is more tame lore wise.
The only reason the current state of the lore is "JESUS THAT'S TOO MUCH, I AM NOT GONNA READ THAT." is cuz' the series has had many comics and other little additions to the lore. So maybe a big spin or twist on the lore, really isn't needed, and ZUN will probably keep on adding little additions, which he still does, just like the Izanagi Objects that have been presented in the newer title
So hey, guess we can only wait for what ZUN's got in store huh

Back when i was 10 i was exposed to sfoc and hopdiddys crazy stickfigure randomness, my parents did not approve of me doing that, so i watched youtube behind their backs, anyways in these animation compilations they had a segment where they would play a remix of this song with seizure inducing effects with the word rofl being flashed multiple times, without knowing it, that was my introduction to touhou, i later figured out more and more till the point i was a full on touhou fan. good night people

I had a very similar experience, on Roblox instead of CZcams.
So basically, somewhere around 5 years ago Roblox used to be very different. There was this new thing called "Chat voice" where some keywords would play audio. Me and my younger brother loved this, so we looked up the list of words and said EVERYTHING. One keyword, I believe to have been "river" but I'm not sure if that's right, played a version of charming dominance. Now about 4 years later I find the original and am a weeb. Thanks Roblox.

Fun fact, Renko and Maribel live in our own near-future, after the climate catastrophe took place and the biosphere collapsed. Humanity survived and even thrived, and due to its advanced technology and cultural nostalgia for when nature was a thing, they reshaped the world into looking like nature reclaimed it. So cities are intentionally flooded, there's plants and vines everywhere, buildings are in ruin, everything looks like the Chernobyl exclusion zone (well, pre-war anyway). But everything is plastic. There are no more real plants and vines, or insects, or wild animals, they're all just extremely convincing plastic and metal fakes. And most of humanity is incredibly melancholic in this artificial world.

Probably not for Marisa. If anything, this song gives off more of a "mischievous" feel. While there is the whole "lol steal books" thing, that doesn't really go hand-in-hand with Marisa's persona overall.

Actually, it sounds like it'd be a better choice for Fairy Wars Extra, in my opinion.

Has anyone else noticed the similarities between Sumireko's and Renko's hats?
They also have the same family name: Usami. (Renko Usami and Sumireko Usami)
Nobody knows if Sumireko is Renko's grandma, or great aunt, or if they have any immediate blood relation at all, but apparently Renko inherited Sumireko's hat and "hobby" (investigating youkai) anyways.
