I was very proud of my brother Ronnie & all the guys in John Fred's band. I have great memories as a kid when it went gold. Even though they were known as the "one hit wonder", they toured the world, met every band you could think of including the Beatles. Many of their other songs were really great. Artists had a more difficult time "making it to the top" than today with such venues as "American Idol", etc.

Maybe this isn't the place to ask this, but I've been wondering lately if there really is such a thing as a "happy memory". Whether I'm reflecting on something good or bad, the end result is nearly always me in tears. The "bad" memories make me cry for obvious reasons & the "good" memories make me sad cuz those days are gone, I didn't appreciate them at the time & I will never get them back again.

In my opinion, that sounds like a horrible curse to put on someone. As to how to deal with memories, you can read about the Stoic philosophers, the psychiatrist Victor Frankl or practice the famous quote: "God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference".

I had the 45 as a kid. I grew up two blocks from where it was recorded in Tyler, Tx. Us kids would walk to the 7-11 down the street and would hear the bands playing in the back of this unassuming house (RobinHood Brians studio). ZZ Top and many others also recorded there. Love the good ol days.

You're right. I never see them either. I live in L.A. The dark blue interior got my attention, with its diamond buttoned upholstery, and the couch seating. I also like the tail lights that extend the whole length of the back bumper, not to mention the cool hidden headlights. Its got some rust issues which are a drag. I'm hoping it won't cost too much to fix. But everything else is flawless. You were lucky to have one too. Cheers :)
