I heard him say “hai I’m Doug” and I was sold
I hope this series gets much more attention. I went through a fair few videos with views in the hundreds of thousands and this video/series I found to be much better. Good, straightforward information which is kept simple enough for newbies to understand but still conveys what it needs to.
Thanks you for the gift . Am starting a bee farm in Africa thanks
Hi Doug,
I've been considering beekeeping for awhile now and I am so glad that I found you! Thank you!
Thanks, Doug for the series. I am sharing it with friends that are starting out. I am also learning from watching them. I'm in my second year.
Glad I came across this video, really appreciate this useful information. You're the man Doug, thanks so much!
Thank you for doing this series. I am going to watch each video and take your suggestions!
VERY GOOD. Kept simple, easy to follow, short and to the point
Simplest and best explanation so far.
I think this is the best explanation for newbies, thank you!
I'm so thankful I found this. I ordered a flowhive yesterday and I have zero beekeeping experience. I'll be binge watching your channel all week. So far, I have found them very informative for a beginner like me. Thank you.
Thank you very much for the information. I'm on my path to learning how to beekeep. My Grandpa did it and sadly I never got to meet him so I find this very poetic that I'm following his path with out learning from him. Subscribed!
I'm from Churubusco IN and will be getting into this soon. I've been wanting to keep bees for several years.
Doug, you rock.
I am thinking about starting in the spring. Your video's will help
Loved episode 1!!! But on the play list it skips to lesson #4...where can I find lessons 2&3?

You taught me more about beginning than any other site gad
Thank you so much! I had started learning about bee keeping though my local bee keepers association and extension office. But then moved :( but as we were cleaning out the garage today, the previous owner had left a box of bee keeping items!! Sparking my interest again. Hopefully this time I can take the jump and become a bee keeper.
Thank you so much

You did a great job
Thank you for this video sir
Great video production appreciate the knowledge
Thanks so much for watching.
Thanks for sharing Great content
Thanks for this clear explanation. A lot of videos jump around too much, and don't start at the start. Assume nothing with newbies (newbees?).
Doug, thanks for the video series. Do the plastic frames hold temperatures and do those temps affect comb building/health of the bees?
plan on starting off my first hive by swarm trapping
Thank u sir for giving knowledge me
Thank you.

hey Doug! just bought 10,000 bees due to your wonderful tutelage! i hope they don't die and i want them to be safe and happy and warm. I have followed all your advice and I hope that I will be able to eat a lot of honey next year! peace and love!
they all died... any tips for next time? i opened the box and threw them into the ocean.....
Been considering starting an apiary and a communal garden at my workplace, and these are very informative. Have to check out how different the annusl cycle is between where you are and Southern Finland. 🤔
Hi Doug thank you for the great information. I bought a beekeeper kit and it has a brood box but no honey super. Do I need the honey super at first or can I add that later? Will bees make honey in the brood box?

I also noticed episodes 11 and 12 are missing.
Now I learn beekeeping in English step by step. I am from Korea.
Thank you very muçh.
Hey Doug, great info. I have a swarm trap. Got some bees in it. has been a few days i think.last night they were bearding under it a bit. When do i move it/open it to see what they are doing?
Episode was good. Where is episode 2 and 3? Thank you
hi,magdy from Australia,I enjoyed your vedio,is it important to have an excluder on top of the brood box
Doug, I have been watching your beginner series but see that videos 2 and 3 as well as 11 and 12 are missing? Any chance you can republish those or is there a way to view them?

That's NOT the next video. That deals with Nucleus colonies.
@@brich2929 so where is the proper info?
Question: My wife is allergic to bees. Would a bee keeping suit be sufficient enough to not get stung or should she not part take in caring for them ?
Hi thanx for the video. Please tell me when do I harvest my bees you keep on saying in the fall is that spring or winter or what??
Thank you! I’m in the S.E. (Ga.) where do you recommend purchasing the most economical bee keeping kit? Thanks, again!
this is all very fascinating. I am contemplating starting my bee keeping journey and the one question i do have is Do I need to actively look for areas for the bees to forage, I live out in the country but its mostly pasture land without pollen producing flowers. Is this something I need to worry about?
Hi Doug, great video, very informative. Thank you for being so straight forward to the point. Can you please tell us the exact dimensions for the beehives? Thanks a lot!
Most are Dadant hives, you can find the dimensions on any selling site. I would put a link if youtube wasn't censoring links.
queen exclusion between brood and honey supers?
Question… I recently bought a set up used hive. It came with two deep brood boxes. This seems to be the most prevalent set up. Why is just one easier for the new beekeeper and won’t the bees run out of room?
How much does purchasing a new brood or starting colony cost?
Where did you get the plastic frames
How frequent is harvesting done?
I am brand new to bee keeping. I am studying it for a year before I get my first hive. I’m from Claypool Indiana. I’d like to plan about 1/2 acre of wild flowers for my bees, which would you recommend?
how often do you manage a hive in a week? and whats the average time per...visit (i dont know the word sorry)
Cool
Where can buy all the beekeeping videos series
how much weight does a bee keeper have to be able to lift ? is the smaller hive that you mentioned lighter in weight ? I can not lift a lot of weight anymore. Thanks.
I have a fairly large backyard, how far away is it safe to have a beehive? I am in the middle of putting a garden in and I wanted to put the beehive within the garden walls for protection from my dogs and other critters. But I’m concerned it will upset the bees to be so close to where I will be working daily. Is this a concern?
Does a beehive need to be level or tilted forward
Give knowledge about sell honey where
Thinking of getting started in bee keeping. One concern I’m having is bears. Do they come along often and destroy your hives/investment? Or am I overthinking things?
Hi Doug, thank you for the info. My husband wants to start beekeeping. Question; We have a huge bee hive in a grapefruit tree, is there a way to transfer it to a bee box, or do we need a Professsional to do it?
A professional is advised. Moving the hive can make it aggressive.
An other option is to install your hive nearby, when the current hive will split in the spring or summer, if you provided a nice place, there are good chances that the new hive will come in the home you provide. ^^
That's how i started beekeeping:: i just put a box out there and waited for a wild hive to come nest inside. It's cheap and efficient.
Are there Episodes 2,3,11 & 12? Thank you.
how many honey supers do you need for them to survive through winter
Hello Holly, how are you doing today, hope you’re fine and safe from the Virus??
13:50 which animal is in the background?
I'm just starting out with my first colony this coming spring...Still in research mode. I notice that yours and many other bee hives are bare wood and not painted to keep moisture out of the wood. Is there a reason for that? Is painting your beehive a bad idea for some reason? Thanks.
Thanks so much for watching the video Hap. My hives have been dipped in a wax and pine rosin bath, which drives out the moisture in the wood and helps preserve the wood for a long time. Painting the hives is fine, I just chose another way of protecting the wood.
Hello from Central Asia. I am a new beekeeper that has to make sure that bees in two beehives (left by their owner for certain reasons) survive through the winter. I have a question. I noticed that in the middle of the day a lot of bees started going in and coming out of one of the beehives (usually they fly like that in front of one of the beehives, and then they calm down, and then after a while the same thing happens in front of the other beehive). They look disturbed but I can't see anything that disturbed them. No birds, no mice, nobody, and the bees don't seem to be fighting with each other either. Is it a normal thing for them to become much more active suddenly? Or is there a problem? It's fall in our country and the weather is sunny, 42-66 F during the day. Thank you in advance. P.S. liked and subscribed! :)
I'm still a little surprised that people beekeep in the Midwest....it gets cold up there for longer periods of time then Texas lol.
Is one beehive considered one colony of bees? I need seven colonies...so I would need 7 of those beehives?
why do you not use an inner cover
I know we are not supposed to paint the inside of the bee hive. I do not know why though. While painting the outside some splashed the inside. Should I leave it or sand it off?
Thanks so much for your comment! Getting a little paint on the inside of the box won't hurt your bees. We don't paint the inside of the hives because the wood needs to breathe moisture in and out and some paints and stains are toxic to bees.
@@DougtheBeeGuy awesome, thank you so so much for your help!
DOUG, where are episodes 2 and 3?
Can’t find episodes 2/3
