  • Finding fossils frequently for financial funding was Mary Anning’s sole source of income for most of her life, but she didn’t just find and sell fossils - she was one of the most accomplished palaeontologists of her time. Unfortunately she was also a woman, more specifically a woman from a lower class background, which meant that she did not receive the formal recognition she deserved in her lifetime.

    if it helps you feel a little better about people getting recognition, I'm 14 and I learned about her in primary school, still not as good as it should be tbh since we still didn't learn about Marie curie or many others but I think people are slowly improving :)
