Disneyland D23 Travel Day! Flying From Florida To California & House Of The Retro Future Suite Tour!

- In today’s vlog, I travel to California for D23 2024! I walk through LAX to find an Uber, I find out I was upgraded to the House of the Retro Future Suite at the Howard Johnson Anaheim and get some pizza and ice cream at Downtown Disney. What a super cool hotel! My first trip to Disneyland was in 1969 and everything was mid century modern. To me, every time I see mid century modern it brings back those feelings of my first trip when I was 6 years old. Back then, people also dressed up to fly on an airplane. I remember my mother and aunt wearing white gloves. I would absolutely love staying at that hotel.
Lol, my first trip to DL was in 1969, with my grandma, when I was 6! Not sure I remember design, aside from my grandma’s house ;) I too love the retro look tho!
I didn't know that Howard Johnson hotels were still in service. That suite was very nice. 🛋️

I was born in 1965 actually not far from that Howard Johnson’s. I was born in Pomona. That’s a pretty cool looking place. I didn’t even know that Howard Johnson’s was even around anymore. 😂👍

Honestly it is well worth is to stay off-property at Disneyland. A lot of hotels are within easy walking distance from the front gates (it's literally down the road) and are a lot cheaper than on-property hotels. Whenever I go I stay around where Tim stayed (it's a whole row of hotels) and it always works out.

I remember going through the House of the Future back when I was very young; I remember how it fascinated and enchanted me. Love having Tim on the Best oops I mean West coast! lol And Tim, my dear, "back home" it was 10:40 for you, not 9:40......that's a 3 hour time difference.

Was looking for stuff my grandparents had, & they for sure had that lamp! They weren’t so “modern” but did end up with a lot of the design in spots, like melmac dishes, fascinating. When the house was sold I rly should’ve asked for lamps… Did get two awesome 70’s spinning upholstered chairs tho :)

That Howard Johnson has always been a really nice motel. They used to have an attached coffee shop that has delicious malts. I remember the Monsanto House from when I was a child. First time ever seeing a microwave and it was huge!
I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn right around the bend in the road from the Howard Johnson. It is a really easy walk!
The hotel is definitely giving cabana Bay vibes

Hojo has become a favorite hotel for our family when we do Disneyland. Love how close it is and my kids love the bunk beds

We stayed at the Fairfield Inn a couple hotels down from the Howard Johnson last week and actually saw Woo walking around there! You guys would love the Marriott Courtyard Theme Entrance hotel right next door to Howard Johnson. It’s fairly new, also has a water park and big slides that are open in the night, plus a Starbucks inside and delicious breakfast and lunch menus at the restaurant. And bunkbeds!
We just went from California to Florida for a cruise in June and the time change was miserable! I feel your pain for the jet lag Tim! We slept on the cruise until 11am because to us being on west coast time, it was 8am still! So we were late to everything but still had a blast
