- Can Pygmy Marmosets be Pets? Do Finger Monkeys Make Good Pets?
As one can imagine, it’s easy to fall for their cute faces and want to adopt one. But do they make good pets?
It’s not easy to obtain and care for finger monkeys. They are energetic, emotionally sensitive, and intelligent. Theoretically, these little cuties can be kept as pets and don’t necessarily need to be in the wild to thrive.

The monkeys with the white fur around their ears are not pygmy marmosets, they're common marmosets ..!
Micro-monkey about to make me obtain a semi-sized simian squad
Why don’t people understand some of them aren’t ripped away from their mothers and that some of them are taken as a rescue, the good people take them so their lives are better, not for the cuteness.
That doesn't happen in the US and UK. They are all bred for the pet market because importing is illegal and has been since the '70's.
A degu bit me once; it bit so deep I could feel its teeth scraping the bone of my finger. I imagine a Marmoset bite would be horrible!
It was not fun....
or you just leave them alone to live in their own habitat
the smallest king kong
Id love to have these little guys running a out the garden!
Do we really need such loud distracting music when conveying a serious message?
Wow and wow. No they are not finger monkeys. They need a lot of care and light and more do your research please!!!!!!!
👏👌💋💋💋💋💋💋💋♥️♥️♥️♥️🤩🥰😍
let me guess they still don't

I would think at only 6 inch’s in size and 3oz in size , that in the wild they wouldn’t last long to predators! So being kept as pets would seem like they would live a longer happier life
Exactly!
Then you would be an idiot. Pygmy marmoset have lived in the wild for literally hundreds of thousands of years. Primates are not pets!
No. They are perfectly adapted to their habitats. They breed easily, and remember that their predators only kill to eat.
Sounds like maybe people just shouldn’t have Pygmy Marmosets as pets. It’s honestly barbaric to have any non genetically domesticated animals as pets.
Are they any good tasting ? 😂
Nope.
Okay, I want everyone to listen up....PRIMATES ARE NOT PETS. NONE OF THEM. PERIOD. And the primary food of marmoset is tree gum. Whoever's narrating this doesn't even know what they're talking about. These are endangered animals and do not belong in peoples houses. Just stop!
They can have a better diet in captivity than in the wild.
It isn't up to you what others keep as pets. If they want a pet marmoset, that's up to them. Not you.
@@MrQuadro83 Actually, it's up to lawmakers. Keeping primates as pets is cruel, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with having laws on the book that protect vulnerable WILD animals who cannot protect themselves. You need to check your moral compass because it is BROKEN.
@@komix7556 most primates kept in captivity have serious nutritional issues. For example, most marmosets kept as pets have severe bone deficiencies, because they aren't given vitamin D supplements and are not allowed outside. Do your research. It is cruel to keep primates as pets. They are wild animals, and if they are not in the wild should at the very least be kept in a sanctuaryby professionals who know how to care for them.
@@Paula_Shelton Yeah, it's up to the lawmakers, and keeping primates as pets is legal. My moral compass is fine. At least I'm not a self righteous keyboard warrior, unlike some people here.
