- A 4K Toronto walking video test of the DJI Pocket 2 camera. Most walking videos on this channel have been recorded with the original DJI Osmo Pocket and this was my first attempt at using the all new Pocket 2. This is not a review but rather a first attempt, more thoughts and impressions are to follow later. I start this video at Broadview Station in Greektown and head south down Broadview past Riverdale Park East to East Chinatown. This was recorded in the late afternoon of Monday, November 2, 2020.
Recorded with a DJI Pocket 2 in 4K at 60 FPS.

Great walk to a place I've never been before. It's cool that people don't seem to notice the camera - less of an intrusion and perfect for seeing things how they really are. The gimble does an incredable job while your walking. Thanks for posting.

Wow the upgrade is pretty sweet. Edges are super crispy and the contrast is better too. Also the zoom speed is just fine on my big screen. Can't wait to see a night walk.
The next night walk will be with the old camera but after that... :)

The biggest advantage that the Pocket 2 has is that it's so tiny that people don't get alarmed when you film with it.
In the past I used to film/vlog with a big mirrorless rig and people were always quite irate sometimes. Typical Karens.
The Pocket is so tiny that most people don't even notice it and when they do they don't mind it because it looks harmless.

Do you know if microphone adapter from Pocket 1 will work with Pocket 2?
Sadly I do not know! I prefer to record externally that way I have a second audio track as a backup anyway. I'm waiting for a wind cover that slips over the Pocket 2.

I like your S20. Can’t tell if this seems on the side of low-light or it’s our Toronto weather. Image is crisp & good quality. It will be interesting to see /test during bright noon or night time as you mentioned.

I have the same issue, but I read if u format your sd card to exfat, it won't give that issue. I haven't tried, but if you do. Let me know if it did the job
When I access the files via the SD card, all of the footage is split into 3gb clips, but when I import from Final Cut, it is all one clip.

Nice walking tour. Are you using filter in taking this walk tour and of yes what kind of filter? I have OSMO+ which is already outdated and plan to buy this OSMO Pocket 2. I noticed that your Shure mic sounds really good. I did a test livestream on Friday and my voice sounded fine, and it filtered the wind just fine, but the lav picked up a lot of background noises and street noise. I was using a RØDE Lavalier GO. Is the Shure that much better for this, or am I maybe placing it wrong?
I already bought the same Shure mic you use, but I'm waiting for it to be delivered (it seems to be out of stock everywhere in the Netherlands).
Also, yes, you've been on Riverdale a lot! That's my old neighbourhood (Millbrook Crescent). You have to check out the smaller streets in there some time, as well as Withrow Park.
I'd actually like to do a collab with you some time about Riverdale: why it's so great, and why it would be illegal to build today because of modern zoning. I'll send you an email some time though.
It might also have something to do with your audio recorder? I use an android app called "Audio Recorder" - yeah creative name lol and have enabled background noise removal. One thing that I do is clip the mic underneath my shirt to add an extra layer of wind filtering. It's a great mic for cycling and general use IMO.

How do you walk so smoothly without getting the “step bounce”? where do you hold it?

How did you set this up as in did you recorded this on 4K/60 or 4K/24 or something or maybe 1080/60 ? love to know the conditions in which you recorded this and i was also heard that if you connect the All-do-it handle by connecting the other part below the Crip you wont be able to record 4k/60 which seems really really strange because i want to buy this device and i want to connect that extra body part under the camera just so i can hold the camera more properly and i want to record in 4k but the (do-it-all handle) will not function the 4K.... if you connect that which is i don't understand why.
Its not like im going to use it for the mic connections or anything. Just want to connect that Crip so that i can hold the camera properly just to give more room on my hand when holding the camera... Can you confirm this or something please ? Its the extra body part that connects under the camera to give that extra Crip on hand but its design to connect a microphone and or something else.. Which i don't plan to do only just connect that there to make it feel more comfortable when holding the camera otherwise it be like a toy if it didn't had that extra piece to connect it onto.
P.S also did you use the Wide-angle lens that came with the Combo ? y you buy the combo with this Pocket 2 it will come with a 1 wide-lens for it which is handy and im sure most people would actually use it all the times. But let me know.. Unless u brought the whole filters lens and special wide lenses.
P.S just witness on title you recorded it on 4k/60 But my concern is that extra body crip that you connect under the camera.... i like that extra crip idea to hold the camera properly and comfortably but the biggest problem is if you connect that extra body part under the camera the whole 4k/60 wont work or disabled. Which is strange. I dont plan to use that crip to connect microphones. I only want to use the mic that has built in on top of the camera instead thats why i want that extra body part only to hold the camera instead.. could the 4k/60 work without using the functionality of the extra part of the body camera ? i think its call Do-it-all handle its just an extra body and i reckon it looks cool with it on to extend the camera by holding it otherwise it be super tiny for me hehe :)

do you walk at a normal pace? I am a fast walker so idk if it'll look all weird and jumpy if I try when walking. Do you use the wide angel lens? How long can you record a video with it having to split up and start another one? do you have to format the SD card a certain way to avoid this for a long video? I heard once around 3-4gb it stops and starts another recording. Is this true? Can anyone confirm?
Goes off on Apple and then calls out the car's plate too. Lol. Camera looks good. I don't think I'd ever seen the Don Jail before, it's a pretty impressive looking structure.

Is the pocket camera in your chest pocket?
Can you use both mics (internal + external) together: for example if you have 2 people walking and talking - can one use the clip on mic and other speak closer to the pocket 2 itself?
You can't use both mics unless you record externally.. even though it sounds weird like there's an echo.
can someone let me know what microphone is good for the original DJI osmo microphone that is good for 4k walking, that doesnt capture breathing but just street noise? or is their a DJI osmo new that takes out breathing when walking with it outside, cause im having some trouble with it. or is there any camera that takes out breathing noise when walking, let me know thanks for the help for anyone that knows.
I'd recommended getting a foam wind filter for it. It will make it sound MUCH better.
I record externally and sync in post which is the best option.
Nice vlog, enjoyed. Is it possible in future videos could you show how you walk to record all these, even with gimbal I'm unable to get this much stable footage. Will plan for pocket 2, but before purchasing wanna know how you make it stabilized. All the best. Thank you.
I just hold the camera and walk steadily... I'm not sure there's much more to it than that. Some people might have a "bouncier" step.
Great video! Thinking of buying an Osmo Pocket 2 myself. Do you find yourself ever needing ND filters for it (I think the aperture is non-adjustable)? Also, do you just hold it by itself or with a stick? Thanks!
Thanks! I don't use them but I do use a CPL filter. I leave it on auto ISO due to the varying lighting conditions encountered on a walk which defeats the purpose of using an ND filter. I do have a set but never use it :)

Thanks. I didn't get the creator combo. I recorded the audio externally and not through the camera at all.
A old video but very cool to see my old city, cheers :) I am still using the Pocket 2 now, love how discreet it is.... had a look at the Pocket 3 but for me it is too big, especially with the horizontal screen, don't think using a phone on a gimbal will make much difference in terms of staying low key.

For a second, I thought this camera was absolute garbage and I was about to return it.. but then I realized CZcams likes to make me watch 4k videos a 480p.. lol :) Great video!
Sometimes it bumps it down to 720P on me for no reason and I have to bump it back up lol.

I only use a chest mount when recording bike/scooter rides. I didn't use one in this video.

Looks nice and crisp... but what's your verdict? Also, how is the video quality in low light/night?
I have not used it enough overall but so far I think it's a rather nice upgrade. Once I've made several more videos in various conditions I'll have a better idea. The low light performance (I did do a quick vid at night) seems to be slightly better but there's still a fair bit of noise which is unavoidable with such a small sensor.
Did you record at auto or manual mode? If manual, what settings did you use as your iso and shutter speed. And did you also have an ND filter? Kindly let me know, Thanks

I see they marketed a bundle that came with a wireless mic. did you purchase that? or just the camera?
The creator bundle has been delayed and I don't really have a need for anything it comes with. I prefer to record my audio externally with my existing lav mic so I just got the regular Pocket 2. I'll probably get a second one so if I feel the need for any of that stuff I'll pick that one up :)
