LipJ and Waackxxy will always be my favorites but Marid definitely has a special place in my heart…her judge showcase at eleganza 2022 was indeed ELEGANZA
Judge battles can HIT DIFFERENT. Because they don’t have the pressure of placing but enjoying their time in the space cultivated by others! Love it!
the song choices here were so good especially since wizzard chose and produced some of the remixes specifically for this waacking lineup!

omg the way you were fanning down to marid. she's definitely one of the best waackers in the scene rn. she's basically established herself as one of the titans in the battle field and this rings true since she already won two line up already. plus she's been killing the game this year too given how she's won most of the events she participated in. she's definitely a rising legend

For SURE
With all due respect to Eleganza, Summer Dance Forever and Old School Night... but LineUp is the greatest championship in Waacking: from the sheer numbers of applicants (close to 500 this year) to DJ Wizzard doing a phenomenon job pushing the dancers with unexpected music and the talent pool in Korea, nothing really compares.
Wizzard is an amazing DJ. He really knows how to bring out the best of the contestants while challenging them. But I think if Lineup's waacking extended more to international participants as well it'll be by far the premiere competition. But they also have to promote local dancers, and Koreans are great at waacking too.
I have REALLY enjoyed the logistics of Lineup and their legit "lineup" of who is there! Really fun!
The Cera vs. Marid round was amazing and also made me really emotional. Such a great display of artistry and musicality from both...

I love Babyzoo so much. His musicality is another level. He is the winner of Line up 5. He is such a good battler and wins a lot of international waacking battles. But later he paid more attention to choreography and stopped going to dance battles. He is also member of Ygx and he is choreographer of Blackpink and Lady Gaga Sour candy, Somi fast forward and more. Babyzoo and Jemin's Line up 5 battle is also very good. I hope you watch that battle too.
I wish he got back into street dance, it feels a bit of a waste of talent (not to say he isnt an amazing choreographer). But the way he plays with his textures, the emotions, the details, his dance style is super unique. Although he is quite rusty i'm glad he competed.

I've been really enjoying seeing him on both sides of the industry! I also feel that he is able to be a more authentic representation of Waacking and Vogue to the commercial side through his time in battles and the culture so wherever he is, I love to see it!

but I'm going to do it again cuz I'm not a quitter you're gonna get the 50 bullet points whether you like it or not (though you can just simply skim or ignore it if it's too much I just realized 😂 but it's ok cuz writing it all down also helps me internalize all the amazing stuff I've watched
1. You might notice Dulock as he MCs most of the major street dance battle events in Korea. He’s a well-respected figure, member of Lock’n’lol crew and overall nice guy. He also has commentary with the eliminated crews from Street Man Fighter series you might be interested in (search 스맨파 코멘터리)
2. DJ Wizzard has been the DJ for the Line Up Waacking Side in recent seasons. He’s part of the Bitgeoul Dancers, which is the team that organizes (and slays the boots house down) the Line Up Event every year. Wizzard is the funniest waacker I’ve watched PERIOD. He ANNIHILATED the recent Summer Dance Forever Waacking Side. His battle with Lockeroo was EPIC. MUST WATCH. He’s also part of Korea Waackers along with Lip J, Waackxxxy, Yoonji, Haejun and Soul K and the Founding Father of House of Juun.J
3. Wacoon is an OG Korean waacker, you’ll see him judge a lot of battles in the early 2010’s especially when you watch Lip J’s battles when she was just new in the waacking battle scene. He’s part of Coming Out crew, along with Kinky, Jayme, Kiki and other dancers you may recognize from Chungha’s songs like I’m Ready (they’re a go to for kpop songs which involve waacking and voguing since that’s their expertise). His style is very old-school waacking I would say, where he does a lot of posing and emphasizes more on highlights of the song rather than hitting most of the beats that can be heard (not that he can’t, it’s just his style) so it’s interesting to see him go against Danzel who definitely likes to hit most of the beats. Wacoon also leaves behind his phone and stuff in the dance floor which prompts Dulock to playfully scold him which was a fun moment
4. You’ll notice that the dancers especially in the Round of 16 have an “entourage” and while this is “fairly” common in battles in Korea, it became like a big thing last year along with the intro of them walking in. Wacoon had Coming Out crew with him, and while initially Danzel entered on his own, Dulock was quick to encourage some of the other waackers (most of which are friendly with him anyway, whom he’s had a lot of battles with before) to cheer at his side. A similar thing happened last year in the Openstyle where Danzel competed against a dancer who’s entourage is like all the NCT units combined and so the waackers were quick to come support their bestie in waacking. Line Up is so fun I swear
5. Jeem is part of Masterpiece, a duo of him and Yoonji and Bitgeoul Dancers. I would say he REALLY improved like he’s found his distinct style and his technique is at its peak right now. I started noticing this last year where he does short bursts of really compact waacking sequences then incorporating more musicality in his choices. I like the texture of his fast waacking compared to others because I don’t know if it’s just me but there’s a depth to it? at least compared to others. He also joined a few “I don’t know Vogue but…” ballroom events along with Yoonji and I think both years they joined they were both finalists. He’s also the dancer who 5000 mentioned was teaching soul. I do notice a lot of waackers incorporate soul a lot in songs that have trickier beats or rhythms to waack to. I’m going to prescribe 2 tablespoons of Feel the Funk #15 Jeem vs Cera every night for 3 days.
6. Jayme, aside from what I’ve already mentioned, is also the Father of House of Louboutin and very active in the Korean ballroom scene as well. You’ve seen it, but his lines are INSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANE so elegant and beautiful like wtf. Is it just me or does it seem like he has a ballet background? I was wishing for a Jayme vs Jeem tie cuz I wanted to see Wizzard play a more elegant song that can showcase Jayme’s grace more. Also, Yoonji vs Jayme Line Up Season 5 lol
7. Babyzoo is amazing. He used to be part of YGX (I heard YGX is dissolved? Can someone explain?) and you can see Moodok supporting him as well. I think he’s really good at making his freestyle rounds look like it’s “choreographed”. Like the way he hits climaxes or highlights in a song and it’s so clean like he knew EXACTLY what to do.

Season 2 (Openstyle): Winner: Wizzard
Season 3 (Openstyle): Winner: Wizzard (his battle here against VO is LEGENDARY)
Season 3.5 (Waacking): Winner: Lip J (yes 3.5 is different from 3)

Season 4.5 (Waacking): Winner: Ibuki (Ibuki vs Wizzard anyone?)
Season 5 (Waacking): Winner: Babyzoo
Season 5 (Openstyle): Winner: Waackxxxy (3 waackers in the semi-finals, Lip J vs Waackxxxy finals)
Season 6 (Waacking): Winner: Marid
Season 7 (Waacking): Winner: Jemin

Wizzard, Jemin and Marid have won twice in the Line Up series
8. Jemin similar to Marid are both well-rounded dancers. They have good strength, balance, flexibility and control and so it’s interesting how dancers with the same strengths differ through their creative choices.
9. Quiidy is a recent favorite of mine. He has this thing which I call his “turbo mode” where he just waacks in like x100 speed (examples include:

10. I’ve noticed Viktor battle a lot recently in Korea and other neighboring Asian countries. You can definitely tell the difference between Western countries vs Asian countries waacking just from the basic waacking motions like the twirls and overheads. It’s also fun how he utilizes his body's length and flexibility to show variety.
11. You’ve seen Hidden in Eleganza, I won’t say much but she has a fun battle against Leever (also in Eleganza) from Line up Season 7 (her take on Billie Jean’s chorus was SO FUN), also, she goes 4 rounds against Yoonji in the next round of the same season
12. We all know Cera, I just wanna recommend you watch the following clips to further enrich our souls

13. Queenta’s one of the OG dancers as well. Wizzard in an event where he was a judge jokingly called her “old”, earning the “ire” of Akuma Diva and Princess Lockeroo. This is the same event where he dropped MC Dulock’s quote as well. She also has a witty side to her which unfortunately we did not see here given the song choice but she recently had a battle against Jeem (결:OldSkool Waacking Final "QueenTaa Vs Jeem" / 240427 어스퀘이크)
14. Marid’s on fire lately, I’ve seen her SWEEP 2 Waacking 7 to smoke events this year (Wanna What vol 3 and TheQueenofDisco vol 10). She’s part of Bitgeoul Dancers (same as Kiki) hence the very friendly exchange between the two.
15. Kiki - Bitgeoul Dancers, Founding Mother of House of Juun.J and Coming Out crew. As I’m typing this, I’m realizing Pony, Jemin and Marid are particularly close, and Marid and Kiki are close as well (as I’ve mentioned), I just remembered they were the 2nd team Korea sent for Eleganza Grand Gala of Nations after Korea Waackers unit

Please watch the judges showcase for this event... particularly princess lockerooo's performance where she shows everyone why she is SEATED as a judge for a reason.... there were tears at the end of it from every attendee and she got a standing ovation from the the crowd. A masterclass in dance...

Can you explained why Marid is good compared to Cera because all i can see Cera has very good technique compared to Marid the isolation and everything
So from my POV, both performers did incredible! Regarding Marid specifically, she had two BPM changes and seemlessly operated and switched up her techniques and textures to match them without it coming across like she had to "adjust" to her music. It was one of the best displays of musicality I have seen in a hot minute because of the difficulty of matching a track like this with the style she is justifying. I hope I was able to make sense! If Cera had the same BPM changes in her sound to justify, I think it would have been a closer round.

It could be "Jet Fuel Reality" by Luke Power but I would double check just in case! I also know Wizzard did some REMIXES during these matchups so this version may not exist outside of Lineup!

Hey there. Thank you for your feedback. I am someone who wants to be respectful of the scope that I have and not overstep. I am a choreographer who doesn’t actively participate in battles, so my usual analysis will only be respectfully effective under choreography circumstances. These series of battles were recommended to me by MANY people (as you also see other recommendations as you glean through these comments) and some people want to watch me because of the joy of dance and to relive how these battles made them feel by watching me watch for the first time. There is nothing wrong with this as I also tend to look up content to my favorite things to see how people respond to it.
I stated very clearly that I wasn’t going to be analyzing these battles compared to other content so I stand behind my approach. I will also state that at the end of each round I stated who my pick was and an overview as to why which is also something I stated during my intro. I hope you take the time to watch my analysis of choreography if that is something you would prefer or I would also recommend waackxxxys commentary of these battles as she has the jurisdiction and scope appropriate for the analysis.
