- Live take on a Roland MC505 direct to a Canon 6D with a 50mm 1.4 lens
This old hunk a junk still has a few grimy beats left in her. Opened with sliding up the key scale giving the drums a reverse effect. Then added some built in lo fi. Used the d-beam which I never used cuz I thought it was corny, but it actually added some Moog dfam feel to it which is what I was going for... Then I lowered the rhythm key about 8 notes and got a nice deep tone + the lo fi fx gave it a dirty/grimy feel. All by herself straight into the camera mic, a pretty complete groovebox in her day... - Hudba
I've had mine for 22 1/2 years, I never took it out of my set-up, just augmented it with some eurorack and semi-modular. I love my groovebox.
I even used a Korg DSS 1 along side of the groovebox until the power cord was lost. I've only recently found reproductions, I just need to buy one and I'll have a DSS 1 again.

Thanks! I loved the 505, then hated it, then loved it again. I've had her for almost 20 years. Versatile groovebox, capable of whole tracks all by herself, and built like a tank so it can withstand gigs. They're out there cheap, so I highly recommend it. The more you put in, the more you get out. She ain't easy. But she can be tamed 😃

I got my 505 some time ago, but it's mostly collecting dust as the controls seems to me complicated and non-friendly. Use Korg ESX instead at the moment. But I wanna learn 505 and use it too, so such video would be very helpful. Thanx

Great track! I really like all the modulations and overdrives. I wish Roland updated this line of grooveboxes with smaller size and updated engine, but it won't happen.

Not off hand but they're not hard to find on eBay or reverb or on consignment at guitar center or musicians friend...
Mattelica well I hear the displays are flawed and burn out after a few years even though the unit keeps working. I just want to have one that works.
I've been using mine since 1998 and the display works fine. The issue with mine is some buttons have stopped functioning. So while condition is always an issue, the flawed display isn't always it. Like all used synths, it takes a little hunting to find one in better shape
