- I picked up 3 boxes of 1989 Upper Deck Baseball cards for a super great price! Were going to do a box break on one of them and were hunting for Ken Griffey Jr rookie cards that can be graded in psa 10 gem mint condition...
We all know the old saying if its too good to be true it probably is, but Ive been finding great deals most of my life that have paid off big time! The reason i say that is most people know these boxes to not be factory sealed and there happen to be! Not everyone knows there are other cards in this set worthy of grading, lets see what we find....

The issue was the high series, that really hurts the chances of pulling the lowest card in the set.
I think the box is real the packs look like they ripped the same exact way I have one in my hand right now that's been authenticated and the way I opened it just now is exactly the same it rips the same and everything

It depends where the box was packed from in the sheet I bought three authenticated boxes and got no Ken griffeys and no rookies out of one whole box at zero rookies

In 1989 I was 12 and my neighbor was an elderly man who was a serious card collector. He would pay me in cards for cutting his grass for him at his house and a few houses he owned in the neighborhood. When these first dropped he bought a ton of these sets. I’ve been sitting on 25 sets since 89. Probably should sit on the, another 20 yrs. 😂
well literally as i speak they are on fire again! something that has basically held the same value for years all of a sudden blows up!! The boxes are selling for around 250-300 now. Of the 3 boxes i opened one, sold one for $150, and sold the other fast in pack lots for about $190. wish i would have waited. If i were you i would be real tempted to grade the Griffey jr rookies, because they sell for thousands in gem mint.

I don't think they were resealed at all. They are high number, you don't always get a rookie in a pack and you have less chance at Star Rookies because you have a high number card taking up one or two spots per pack.
I think you are probably correct! It was just weird one row had a rookie per pack and one row had no rookies. Thanks for watching!

These boxes are bad buys unless you just like the rush a psa 9 isn't that expensive to buy much better choice to just buy one.
for opening you are 100% correct! i should have flipped all three but i had never opened a whole box of these before! Thanks for checking it out .
@@AddictedtoProfit it's tough not to open wax but there are certain products that just isn't much upside and this is one of them because you are going for 1 card basically makes it tough. Have to first pull one then pull a 9 or higher to make it worth it
believe me I know. I used to own a shop and every day was a struggle when the boxes on the shelf kept saying open me lol

Griffey’s were like one per case They were mass produced once they made sets which killed the value and they still are tought to get even a 9 on due to dings in the set and centering
not one per case, most people get atleast one per box some get more! the high series is harder to pull one like these
You get alot more then 1 per case
unless its a searched case 🤔
