Part of me wonders if I made a mistake buying a full-frame Canon R8. That said, I made an aesthetically-motivated decision here; the type of photography I’m interested in, namely portraits and headshots, doesn’t need weather-sealing or anything like that. I could have bought an APS-C Canon R7, with its professional-level features like IBIS and dual card slots, for about the same price as my R8 (which lacks these features, but is full-frame). On the other hand, I’ve heard that the R8 actually has some of the best low-light and autofocus performance (of course, dependent on lens choice) of any camera out there. I’ve got usable shots at ISO 20000 on my R8.
My goodness yes. Wear and tear with storm chasing gear is real, I ended up buying a new cam just because I had buttons that didn’t work on old body (which I’m still using as a second camera). It was a 5 years in between purchase which felt like, without the wear and tear, could’ve gone even longer in terms of tech. So different than even a decade ago when it felt like you were missing something substantial from year to year.
Great Video ! I shoot with my Canon EOS 700D since 2013 I love this Cam its my first DSLR and I wont need a different one. I the only limitation I face is the ISO and high noise in Night Sky Photography. I wont have the money to spend on expensive lenses. I still look a for the Canon "always on" with USM 32 -109mm but even used still aron 300€ I cant and affort it. Here comes the doubt if my 700D is not good enough and should look for a used Canon 5D MK3. A Fullframe with better sensor, but not for brag around its for expanding the capablitys But with what I have I did amazing stuff, just by learning the capability of my cam and the power of RAW Btw Affinity Photo has one of the best Denoise Filters on the market also AI based but in a good way. Also Landscape stitching, focus stacking both very fast and good. Im not a Professional but its ok to print Images from it for my Wall or print Calenders from it for Christmas. It was biggest blessing I got told by a big Chaser out there how great my works are and I still think they could be better. But that's normal I guess "never stop chasing" for getting better
i have been using my old water proof sony for years, i don't think i can even buy its memory cards or batteries anymore. im actually looking at buying a new camera and will probably get the dgi pocket 3 as it has good results and a lot of cool features my Sony doesn't have but loosing the durability..
I shoot raptors in flight 99% of the time and I still can't find anything I like better than the old Nikon D500...AF speed will hang with the new mirrorless wonder camera's
That video reassure me lot! I’m someone who never touched a camera before so my thinking was to get something more expensive in order to ‘’fill’’ the gap so to speak. I’m still aiming 2026 as usual. I keep studying and will start watching video about spotting and others but of course , i’ll keep watching your videos because they’re incredibly helpful to me. I’m glad to know i’ll be able to pay a little less cuz i need a camera video as well. What you’re doing is really a huge help for someone like me.

Pretty much the only reason I'll buy a new camera these days is due to image sensor degradation. Those dead pixels add up over the years.

I run a canon 90D because that's all I can afford. I'm trying to update lenses, but that's been extremely difficult. Can't really afford that either.
