Instead he ordered Fredo's death. Michael didn't want to kill him, he changed his mind when he found out about the consequences of his actions.
Just the fear that he could lose Kay got him to order Fredo's death.
Tha Senat hearing began and he had to fight for his life again. He was under emotional pressure, he is waiting for his mother to die so he can kill his brother so when he found out about baby he lost it.

When mafia war began Michael pushed Kay away from him and his family.
He didn't let her anywhere near them bc it was dangerous for her.
He did bc he loved her and cared about her.

He turned himself into a savage animal to protect Kay so what happened in Sicily wouldn't happen to a woman he actually loved.

He aged over night when she didn't come to his mother's funeral.
She killed the baby, left him and didn't come to his mother's funeral and yet, he never gave up on her.
He never took the ring of his finger or touched another woman for the rest of his life.
When he lost her he got diabetes, stopped smoking, drinking and killing.
He sent her the children 3 years later when Anthony was 10.
That was registered in the script.

Song that speaks about devastated man who lost his love, his dreams.

This summer im gonna be godfather to my baby cousin. This film was eye opening when I first watched it when I was 14. Vito gave me something to aspire to. I wanna be able to love and take care of my family as he did.

Is the third movie worth watching? I've avoided it for so long since I heard it wasn't up to the level of the prequels.
@@Chip_Fuse It ties loose ends part 2 left behind, it's still an excellent movie although there will be some parts questioning the choices made by the directors. Part 3 finalizes the legacy of the Corleone family, if you liked the godfather you have to watch it.

Godfather 2 ending was very sorrowful. He was a pet to his Dad, Mom, Brothers now sitting alone. When I look back i too see a resemblance in my life to this scene in this movie.

You shouldn't interpret this scene your way bc it's so iconic in its meaning.
This scene was supposed to be different. In a script it was written differently. Family is there for Vito's birthday. When he walks through the door everybody goes towards him. Michael stands in front of him and says " I will never be a man like you ".
Coppola begged Brando to do the scene, offer all the money but he reacted.
He was angry at the studios for not paying him for gf1.
Imagine.... Brando was supposed to be in second one..
So Coppola rewrote it to make the same point...
Everybody is going towards Vito except Michael. He is not interested in being around him, it's his family not him.

Michael was for sure a great gangster, but he never was as great Godfather like Vito, his father, was.
All I understood from the movies were, unlike Vito, Michael wasn't certain about what he wanted; a happy life with his wife and kids, or the power. An unclear mind is a man's hell.
