Snakes are predators and it is always amazing to observe them hunting. Venomous species kill their prey with venom. Watch the venomous Eastern copperhead (Agkistrodon contortrix) move in the lush forest of the Florida Panhandle. It finds a great spot to wait for prey under a thick bush. The pit viper is successful after some time! A skink comes right into the strike zone! The snake injects venom into the lizard with its fangs and eats it whole.
Such an attractive snake! The way it squirmed around to get in the perfect position reminded me of my dog turning in circles to get comfy on her bed. Mr. Copperhead did the same moves. Skink didn’t see him for sure! Thanks for a wild snake video. So many seem staged. 🇨🇦🖖🏻🇨🇦
Thank you for watching! As you say, such an attractive snake and it can disappear in the leaf litter so easily! It was very elegant during the process of coiling under the bush.
It’s great to see that there’s secretive worlds on planet Earth that remains unexplored & for Copperhead great encounters Living Zoology ❤😮
Thank you very much, great that you love our video!
Ooooh where is Frorida?? New location on earth?? 😁😉🤘🤘🐍🐍🐍
😂😂😂 We did not notice that mistake, thanks for letting us know!
Always loved copperhead’s they were the first species of venomous snake I worked with and bred successfully. They’ll always have a special place in my heart and they truly are a stunning species that’s gotten such a bad name. So many people in my area kill these snakes and mainly kill harmless water snakes thinking they are copperhead’s. That’s why I always try and educate as many people that are willing to learn about these snakes and how important they are to our ecosystem. Wish you guys the best and thank you for sharing this video definitely enjoyed watching 🙋♂️✌️
Most copperhead bites are not fatal anyways, generally speaking, the Americas don't, on the whole, have particularly deadly snakes like those found in Asia, Africa and Australia.
Great that you love our video! You are doing an amazing job by educating people about snakes! The difference between scary and beautiful is knowledge. All the best! 👍
Yes, copperheads don’t have very potent venom and it is a pity that people are afraid of them!
Fascinating footage, always a pleasure watching your videos. 👍
Many thanks! We were hoping that this video will be fascinating for viewers :)
Awesome! Copperheads are not as common in fla as most people think. They have a very limited range.
Great work!
Thank you! We were lucky to find one cooperhead in that very limited range 🙂
Such a beautiful video!! Copperheads are so elusive and hard to find and you found a very pretty one too!! I absolutely enjoy uour videos and the way you shoot your footage!
Thank you so much! It is great to hear that you love our content 🙂 As you say, these snakes are not easy to find, we were so happy to get this one!
Copperheads are one of the most beautitful snakes that there are.
Thanks for posting.
Couldn't agree more! Amazing snake and amazing behavior :) Thanks for watching!
You all make the highest quality reptile videos that are not National Geographic/David Attenborough productions. Great stuff!
Oh wow, we really appreciate that you think so! 🙏🙂 Thank you!
Phenomenal video yet again! The camouflage of this species is insane. They blend in so well, surprised you were able to find one, haha! We love your filming style and cant believe you were able to film a wild Southern Copperhead feeding on a plestidon skink! Keep it up!
Thank you so much! It is so good to read positive comments about our filming style :) These snakes are very well camouflaged, we found only one!
Stunning video as always, beautiful photography. A really lovely colouring to the Copperhead.
Thank you very much!! Lovely snake indeed!
Not only for the Copperhead, but for you guys too.... patience is the virtue. As long as the snake has to wait for its prey, you people have to wait longer for the right shot at the right moment.
Amaxing videography and natural sound effects.
We are happy that you love the footage and the soundscape! Patience is very important yes. When it comes to filming snake feeding, it is either very fast or super slow in our experience. This was the first case, it was difficult to film the whole process from different angles in such a short time! Recently we were filming a Grass snake eating an European toad and it took 4 hours! That was a lot about patience haha :D
This by far one of my favorite videos! Keep the great content coming!
Awesome! Thank you! 🙂
Great footage, like always.
Thank you guys...
Thank you for watching! Great that you love our content 🙂
Thanks for another amazing video. Copperheads are really beautiful. Given that they are pit vipers, I reckon catching the skink was good luck for this snake!
Very welcome! This snake was really beautiful. Copperheads are generalists, they will eat any small vertebrate that comes by 🙂
Great job guyz, always pleasure to watch your videos 👌🏻👌🏻😍🙏
Thank you very much! We are happy that you love our videos!
The camouflage is literally impeccable.
We agree, amazing camouflage! Thanks for watching!
Great footage and a beautiful animal! The skink appeared to be partially paralyzed after the first bite?🐍🦎😋
Thank you so much! 🙂🙏 Yes, the skink moved a bit and then stayed at one spot, probably already paralysed.
This is amazing video of copperhead snakes, thanks for all the information about this snakes, now my curiosity is stable.
Our pleasure! Great that your curiosity is stable.
Amazing video, i would love to see more
Thank you! Lot of new snake footage coming, don’t worry 🙂
nice as usual !
Thank you very much!
Zdravím zase nádhera u contortrix jsem odchoval v domácí péči všecky poddruhy třeba u V.ammodytes mi chyběla černá forma a teda ze všech zrali nz contortrix pouze pictigaster sám žral skakavky jinak dnes se používá jed na léčbu lidi díky Petr.
Moc děkujeme za sledování! 🙏
Very lovely job
Thank you! 😊
Great short this video
Thank you! You like that the video is short?
Good job
Thanks a lot!
Hermoso ejemplar 🐍🐍💪💪🤝🤝
Thanks for watching!
@0:45 dude isn't this camouflage, sufficient enough...unless, you decide to stop slithering🤔
@5:52 yep,... that's decent 🙌
Haha, thanks for watching! 😀
Send some up to Ontario. Would love to have some around me.
We checked their range on the map, they are not that far away, but also not that close!
@@LivingZoology we have the Massassauga around us up here. Use to have Timbers in southern Ontario but I believe the last sighting was in 44. You do hear the odd Copperhead sighting up here but very very unlikely.
@@shawnmccarthy2635 Sorry to hear that even Timbers are gone 🥲 At least Massassaugas are still there!
One of my biggest target species in the US, they look so cool.
Another very special observation you made there 👍
Thanks 👍It is such an elegant species! Copperheads are quite common, you should be able to find one relatively easily!
@@LivingZoology Not in Florida at least. You've gotta go up the panhandle to find them here.
A quick trip to Georgia though and you'll be up to your eyeballs in them.
@@calkingherper4189 Florida Panhandle is still part of the state called Florida :)
@@LivingZoology Oh I know that. Im just saying that in Florida theyre only found in certain parts of the western panhandle. They arent found in the majority of the state.
Stunning video of copperhead behaviour. The crypsis of this particular species is a great example of evolutionary adaptation to a particular environment. Is the venom of the copperhead targeted at skinks?
Thank you very much! 🙏We were amazed how well this species blends in its environment. Copperheads are generalists, they hunt small rodents and other small vertebrates, even some invertebrates (cicadas).
How far did the skink make it after it was bitten?
Not far away, surprisingly! Maybe 30 cm, it was not running because of the shock we think.
@@LivingZoology It would be like a human being stabbed with a sword.
@@victorcarbino8736 Yes, something like that!
What a beautiful looking snake, but then i think most of them are really. Interesting to see in it's own healthy habitat.
We absolutely agree, it is the best to observe snakes in their habitat!
@@LivingZoology Another great video guys 👍
@@simon01ize Thanks so much! 🙏
Another great video but I will like to work with you people cause is my dream
@@golisticmhafiz1736 It is an honor that you would like to work with us 🙂 Unfortunately we don’t have any position to offer, we are just two people doing what they love 🐍❤️
It's camouflage color really makes it hard to be seen.
Exactly! Thanks for watching!
🐍🤩 !!
Thanks for watching!
When a snake bites its prey, how does it recognize whether the bite was lethal or not? otherwise will lose the prey.
Some snakes hold their prey until it dies. Some just bite and hope that the venom did its job.
💚
Thank you!
It's the American Death Adder!
A little bit, yes! Thanks for watching!
@@LivingZoology Your welcome. Yes, a little bit like a death adder but with Russell's Viper coloration!
hello..copperhead vs bushmaster vs fer de lance your choice is for American beautiful snakes
Well, the copperhead is probably the most beautiful according to our opinion!
as a humble connoisseur of snakes, that's why I asked you😁😁
I love copperhead snakes, why is it called copperhead anyway??
Because of the color of its head.
@@LivingZoology Ok we will see in the video, thank you so much, peace 🙏🙏
@@nassunarhania You will see it nicely in the video 🐍
Frorida 😂
Thanks for letting us know, we totally missed it 😂 😂 😂
