  • Yes, it's possible to not use plaster of Paris to make a cast of your hand. With masking tape, cling wrap, and old sheets of newspaper, you can even do it alone. Watch this video to learn how I made a mold or cast of my hands.

    Cool idea and all, but why not just use a nitro, latex glove or even a dish glove from dollar tree instead of plastic wrap?

    Thanks a lot for this tutorial! I want to try and cosplay Shigaraki from Mha and in most other tutorials you have to cover your hand in glue. This is very helpful, thank you!

    I'm going to try shorted the process by wearing rubber gloves under the masking tape, instead of using cling film!

    Are you just getting the newspaper wet with hot water or do you have to use glue so it can stay? It looks so amazing and incredible keep up the great work thank you for making a great video for showing us how easy it is to and how amazing it looks after.

      Hi! It's homemade paste. Prepare a cornstarch-water mixture. Bring to a simmer while stirring. Turn off the heat as soon as the mixture thickens.

    Could I use elmers glue for the paste instead of the homemade paste? also is there a way I could reinforce the inside so it's less likely to break?

      Hi, yes you can. Don't worry, it doesn't break easily as long as there are enough layers of (news)paper to hold everything together.

      Mix up some cement with enough water to make it paintable, then paint the outside in two or three layers (waiting for it to dry completely between layers). That will make it rock-hard (although brittle).

      Hi! Mix cornstarch with water, and then bring it to a boil while stirring. Use low heat. Turn off your stove when the mixture turns into a paste.

      You can, but why not just use plaster of Paris instead of doing this step? There are tutorials (from other channels) teaching you how to create a mold of your hand/s using plaster of Paris and alginate.

      As one commenter suggested, you might want to use rubber gloves. I haven't tried it, though.

      I haven't tried it, but I suspect it'll wrinkle as the gloves go back to their original form.

      Hi! Keep your fingers folded during the wrapping process. Note that the more folded, the more challenging the removal process may be.

      That's also a good alternative. If you don't want to use your hands, you can use gloves, fill them with newspaper, fold the hands, and then wrap.

      You can, but clear tape has a smoother, slippery surface, so the newspaper strips may not stick very well.

      Hi! From prep to wrapping with tape, about an hour per hand. Covering the hands with two coats of newspaper strips and glue including waiting time, about 6 hours.
