This is how we did makeup in the early 2000s before the 1000 product/ layer makeup tutorials hit social media, forcing people to buy too many products they don’t need. Glad we are going back to the basics.
If you are a beginner to makeup. I suggest using a tinted spf instead of foundation. Good practice blending, you dont need to figure out what spf works well underneth the foundation, and it looks more natural. You can work your way up to the real foundation if you want more coverage.
Yeah but with tinted ones we tend to under apply. Still better than nothing but I’d rather find a sunscreen that plays well underneath and then top it off with a small amount of the tinted one
I would recommend this video to older women, also, who are looking to simplify their makeup routines. I'm 57 and these products are what i use everyday to look polished and pulled together. I'll add some eyeshadow, eyeliner and lip liner for special occasions and evening looks.

My make up routine looks somewhaz similar and it takes me about 3 minutes in the morning. I use my fingers to put on some eyeshadow, peachy / light pink , very bright and surle looking color, some brown instead of black eyeliner that I only use for half the eyelid. It's not liquid so it is very easy to use. Adding some blush and a lipstick using a lipliner for my outer shape but filling it in with a 24h lasting lipstick that has one of those vaseline sticks on the opposite end. If I feel like I have the time and patience I finish it with some maskara but I often skip it 😅 Depending on the day I also add some powder blush but again just if I have some extra time. But even those 2 extra steps barely take up a minute. I guess I am lucky to have good skin. But I am really glad my teenage bf told me to stay away from foundation. He didnmt want to kiss me cause he considered it "to be like kissing dirt 😂" and was lile "if you now feel like you need that already dor your skin, imagine what your skin will look like decades later feom frequent use!
As someone who doesn't like heavy makeup, I also just like a tinted primer and powder straight on that. The tula filtering primer is good and I like the make up for ever green primer if I'm red. The clarins tinting lip oil is nice too, doesn't feel annoying like a lot of lip products
Another tip for beginners, it is better to just always or at least mainly use clean hands to pat on product (product that is creme or liquid consistency). This is because beauty blenders tend to absorb most product and carry bacteria if not properly cleaned. Also it’s a waste of money both ways, having to buy the blender and then lose excess product. The same applies to brushes, along with brushes having the ability to leave your makeup looking splotchy. She did mention you can use your fingers and it is great she shared that I just wanted to add on to that. Much love and please remember you are beautiful with and without makeup, don’t let makeup become something that you feel you need. Try your best to keep a healthy relationship with it, good luck! 🫶
I’m not a beginner, but I’ve been out of the makeup game/realm for years because I developed chronic illnesses. I’m just now rediscovering my love for it but I basically only remember how to do eyeshadow and can’t handle tons of heavy products on my face anymore so thank you. You’re helping a lot of people with these informative videos.
Maybe a BB creme could be good for you? I have psoriasis so if I use a regular foundation or concealer it becomes apparent I flake more (also used to give me irritation), but a BB creme is my go to as a base.
I don't think applying cream blush on top of powder is the way to go. It just doesn't blend well and my fingers tends to tug my skin. What I have found is that it is better to use liquid or cream blushes under setting powder and powder blushes over the setting powder. Easier to work with and looks way better imo
Easily avoided by only applying powder to the areas where you've used concealer. So, spot powdering as well as spot concealing. I do agree that liquid > cream > powder is the easiest method. Better not complicate things when it comes to minimal makeup.
You can also put cream/liquid blush on your hand, tap it a little with a brush and then apply it to your cheeks. Works really good and you can control the intensity easier! Hope it helps!
I am a beginner at 39.. Please help!! How and when do I use primer? When do use put on the setting powder? Before or after the setting spray? Do you wait until it dries a bit to blend out the concealer? It's all so confusing 😭

i would just say don’t apply cream/liquids over powder. apply your cream blush after foundation but BEFORE powders. this prevents any lifting or texture issues you could come across as a beginner, especially if you have a heavy hand.
This. It can cause some issues. Unless you didn’t put any powder there. You could powder the tzone with a powder like the one she used, but use a translucent over the blush if she was concerned about powdering it.
I have thick brows, i just trim them and I have never touched my brows with any product, I just take a spoolie or washed mascara wand and use it just to brush my brows up and to the side. Works for me EVERY SINGLE TIME. Remember you Don't have to do what everyone is doing, you have to figure out what works for you, that is the real beauty in beauty world. Hope this helps, I wish somebody told me this when I started out my journey.
This technique works for people with extremely dense eyebrows... A little bit of trimming and brushing is enough... But I have very sparse eyebrows like her so I think the eyebrow gel she is using will do wonders for someone like me!!!
Definitely depends on the person! I’m blonde and so are my eyebrows, so if I don’t put SOMETHING in them, they are practically invisible 🤣🤣 I’m so jealous that you only have to brush and trim yours lol.
Wow! Each person is different and that's why their view of beauty is different. I miss the days when each person's beauty (face and body was celebrated and the focus was more on enhancing their natural features, unlike today's times when people are taking treatments to alter their features and all caked-up same looks). 🙂🙃
Such a great quick tutorial! Its make me think of these tips as well: Use excess blush on your eyelids too and a smidge on your nose! If your eyelashes don’t curl then just mascara the tips and focus on the centre few lashes of your eyes. And I love how you’re sharing adorable products that work, thank you!
Milani conceal and perfect is my go to for my face..it self sets and covers everything!! I use this on days I am short for time and no foundation! It is amazing ladies if you can find ur shades! U literally need nothing else and u can use powder but I have dry skin and it stays all day without or setting spray! My favorite setting spray is milani !!
I really want to try this product, but they unfortunately don’t go pale enough for my shade :( I really love the texture of it as well when I tried a tester on my hand
This is a great combo for 16yo+ girlies who want to start to put a little makeup on. This is seriously enough to enhance your already beautiful self! I wish these products existed when I started doing makeup. Glowy natural finishes look waaaaay better than the crusty Mac powder foundation I was caking my face with 😂😂
@@jurochka17 when I was 12 my school didn’t allow younger students to wear makeup. At 15 or 16 we would do something light like blush, gloss and a little clear mascara. I had acne so foundation would only emphasize and worsen my skin condition.
@@jurochka17it wasn’t really cultural nor even allowed at home/school for most teenagers to do makeup some time ago. At 16 was when I started to shave and put mascara on! Even owning a hair straightener was a huge deal (to the point girls would do it with clothing iron 🥴)
16 year olds really don't need make up. I didn't start with make up til I was 42. And that was just minimal! Good skin is what you need to look good bare faced!
This exactly what I do whenever I wear makeup minus the blush! I'm a minimalist & a fresh face IMHO will always trump a beat to the gawds *stage makeup* drag look w/those crazy eyelashes.
Thanks on informing me of the "tinted brow gels"! Didn't know it was a thing, I'm not good with drawing in my brows & don't have much hair in that area so I'm hoping this will work for me!
I would possibly suggest having your eyebrows professionally tinted (or even just at home if you’re confident enough, I do mine at home) and waxed if you have the money. It’s quite pricey to pay for someone else to do it so it may be worth learning at home, but it can help fill in the sparser looking spots by staining the hairs :) I have naturally pale strawberry blonde hair that’s dyed black so I have to tint them every other week
Not a beginner but someone who has become snowed under. Great to go back to basics. Thanks for this video, and you're so pretty and a great model for cosmetics!
I have the same problem, so I just brush them up first, and then I brush the ends of the hair back in the brow frame. Lastly, I brush the tail to the side of my face to make my brows look long. This makes my brows even look slimmer
Very good advice! I would show this to all my young teen daughters! This is just enough to enhance their natural beauty!’ Thank you so much! They can even use the cheek stick on the eye lids too! ❤
I love this video! I'm 25 and this is exactly how I do my make-up nowadays, when I choose to wear it. Concealer, powder, mascara, and I also use white eye pencil (for the bottom eyelid) to make the eyes pop. I don't do my eyebrows, though, but I love the way it looks in this video after using the mentioned product. And that blush looks gorgeous! I'll be checking these products out for sure 😊. Thank you ♥️.
as a professional makeup artist, it’s literally my job, these really are the basics and i mean i myself only use concealer and powder because i’m a not a big fan of wearing foundation. and i would recommend putting a cream blush on either before or after you put on concealer and absolutely before you put on setting powder. it seems like you didn’t put a whole lot of the powder on so the blush was able to blend out but i suggest never putting a cream product on top of powder, it’s how you ruin your whole base
The problem is that my skin is extremely dry. It doesn't matter that I use multiple layers of moisturizer or I drink a lot of water, my skin is so dry it looks horrible with any kind of makeup after an hour or so 😢. I've tried to use concealer so many times, but it my skin looks like it's cracking and flaking.
do you try applying a moisturizer/ face lotion and then a bit of sunscreen? That could definitely help. Also make sure you apply makeup on a clean face[so wash it before moisturizing]!
Thank you for all the ideas! I've tried some of them, but not all. I've noticed that mixing my cream make up with some moisturizer helps a bit, but it also makes the make up less effective. I also have rosacea, so I believe that makes it worse
This may sound weird, but are you doing your skincare routine before applying makeup? Not only does it make sure you have a clean base to start your look with, but it can also help with flakes makeup. I make sure to wash only with room temp. or cool water and end my skincare routine by "sealing" with a bit of facial oil. The only thing, truly, that moisturizes your face is water but oils can act as a sealant to lock in said moisture (preventing some dryness). I wait about 10 minutes after using oil to be super safe about it not ruining the effectiveness of my products. I also try to always use a hydrating primer and liberally use a setting spray to "melt" my products in. Sorry for rambling lol I just remember being new to make up and struggling to make it last through the night.
Omg this is actually my go to makeup look. I always whenever I see other oils doing makeup I thought I am doing less bt now Ik I was on the track from the beginning .
Love, love, love this. It's the basics you need for that quick 5mins put-together look. Brilliant! I'm grateful i could swap out the concealer for the tinted sunscreen to get the same results
It's hard to get a color match on concealer. Since they are often very limited in color range compared to foundation shade ranges. I myself have extremely dry skin I would never use powder
get a a stick foundation and a concealer brush, apply to the areas that you wanna conceal, then just get a brightening concealer w a lighter or sheer formula to go on top
this has been my whole makeup routine, with the additional liquid eyeliner and curling my lashes before mascara.. you can never go wrong with this, simple yet put together! love it!
Replace the concealer with a tinted sunscreen IMO, foundation and concealer are scams in 90% of cases. Take care of your skin and you won't need it, and it interferes with sunscreen, which is one of the most important skincare steps.
It only interferes with sunscreen when it comes to reapplying but there is many options to reapply over makeup. I have tried some tinted sunscreens that break me out so bad so I prefer my regular sunscreen and wearing makeup over it 🤷🏻♀️ so everyones different
idk if youre a person with a significant amount of melanin or not but i wouldnt say concealer is a scam as some of us have natural heavy/uneven pigmentation around our eyes and mouths that concealer… conceals. sunscreen doesnt fix that🤷♀️
@@MoNehNeh17 Yes, I got melanin. Good skincare routine will get rid of that rather than bandaid it. Toner and sunscreen will go further than concealer there.
I've been wearing makeup for a long time, and while I have done full face/half routine, etc. I always come back to this basic '5 products.' It's fast, pretty, simple and sophisticated. And very business/school appropriate. She absolutely NAILED it. ❤
OMG I am not a beginner. I am 53 years of age but do you think I can do lashes? I am begging you to do a really easy lash tutorial as i have wasted so much money on the lashes and I can never get them on and it’s also cause of my eye sight, it’s really bad and I need my glasses to bloody see! Which doesn’t help when trying to put them on. Please help me, gorgeous!
I’ll also add that there are lashes that have larger bands and, when I first started, I found those easier to work with. Using the lash applicator tweezer with them was really helpful too
@@slaybyjess can you please tell me which shade is the blush? The shade linked under the video doesn't look correct. The one you're holding is dusty mauve or something else? Thank you in advance!
For me, i only use concealer and lip tint/lipstick/lip cream most of the time except when i going to the party or someone wedding, then i'll use all of those product that you mentioned plus eyeshadow and highliter & contour( but these two, it's depend on the occasion and how important it is).
I’m a beginner in makeup. I use mascara, brow mascara, mascara, blush and the baby lips crystal chapstick. I LOVE LOVE LOVE ITTTTT (the chapstick). It’s such a pretty pink color with glitter. 🤩🤩🤩 I like that it gives me a natural look. I don’t like the way makeup feels on my face (meaning the powder and stuff I feel like my face can’t breath and I feel like bad cake lol)
If you have thicker darker brows and generally keep them neat (u trim them) then a brow gel is not necessary. I never use one and i feel fine. When i did it only made my brows feel stiff and weird.
I'm a makeup lover who stopped years ago because deprsssion, but I've been wanting to get back into it and it's been intimidating to figure out where to start from again. This is the perfect video to help me, thank you❤
I'm not big on setting, but I have been noticing that after I let my tinted moisturizer sit at least 10 minutes and put powder blush on, a few minutes the blush seems to disappear. Do you suggest at least powdering where I will put my blush? Love your tips btw
@@MsWOCReader really?! I thought Milani blushes were supposed to be good? Okay, I have many other ones, but am too lazy to open a new one 😂 guess I gotta do it then 😂 thank you for your help.
Another tip is get a good pigmented liquid blush( Juvia's Place is my fave but Elf has a good one too) and then set it with a powder blush. So when they powder fades the color is still there from the liquid.
Do you notice any oil on your face after the 10 mins? And do you pat your cheek with a paper towel or something before the powder blush? Even with drier skin, after some kind of base being put on the face, it can make oils pull to the surface. Patting the face with a paper towel after that first wave of oil can make powders last longer
I have been passing on make up tutorials because they use way too many products. But I love this: it’s light, your skin can actually breath…and it looks natural. Thanks!
Beginner af here 👶🏽 Wondering how essential brows gel is in general? I have really thick brows and im afraid if i do anything to them i might look like a cartoon. Idk how to explain 😭 does that make sense? Any tips would be helpful
Před měsícem+9
if you have thick eyebrows naturally you can use a clear browgel to just set them in place without emphasising them
I dont use brow gels at all. I have thicker brows and i trim the hairs and keep them neat naturally so i literally never do my brows. I used to and it felt so weird. Like my brows were stiff lol idk i dont care for it at all. I have thicker brown eyebrows like im good
Kosas brow gel is very natural I recommend that but and if they're already thick no need to fill in but I would brush them up with a tiny bit of brow gel
I've seen some videos with tips for creasing under the eyes. I think these were the tips, but sorry if this is off at all! * make sure area is moisturized * use a primer * make sure the primer is smooth before you put on the product * only add a bit to the inner and out corners of your undereye (if you put too much concealer, it'll crease more) * make sure the concealer is smooth before setting it with powder (a powder pad or sponge might be better for this) I hope any of that helps! 😅
No no. But still the color corrector's colors are gonna be visible. You need to top it off with a concealer but if you don't like it, just go for a light weight hydrating foundation
Tysmmm girl all these beginner makeup videos always look so hard. As a med intern i don't have enough time to do all that 😭 just something that's easy and quick so thanks for this
❤Amazing beginner tips I will definitely will use. I would recommend beginners to just go to a professional for the eyebrows because it’s just easier when your already brows are done and all you have to do is brush them. 😊And beautiful makeup as well.
Get your skin shade! It's only recommended to buy lighter if you intend to use the concealer underneath the eyes to brighten. If you use it all over your face, it should match so you don't look washed out.
I've been looking for a video like this! Something simple and actually doable for a beginner.
Don’t put concealer under your eyes. And don’t add cream blush on top of powder.
Except she did more than use just those products... she didn't get those brows by only using that brow gel. 😳
I think she did a good job at covering the basics. This is a fresh face. 10/10 recommended.

I miss the days when each person's beauty (face and body was celebrated and the focus was more on enhancing their natural features, unlike today's times when people are taking treatments to alter their features and all caked-up same looks). 🙂🙃
@@aaishwaryadhapre6578it also depends on what’s in style. When I was young thick brows weren’t in
Such a great quick tutorial! Its make me think of these tips as well:
Use excess blush on your eyelids too and a smidge on your nose!
If your eyelashes don’t curl then just mascara the tips and focus on the centre few lashes of your eyes.
And I love how you’re sharing adorable products that work, thank you!
This is soooo lovely. Fresh and natural. So sick of seeing the caked on instagram make up that is all over the internet...
Glowy natural finishes look waaaaay better than the crusty Mac powder foundation I was caking my face with 😂😂
Wtf I start doing makeup since I was 12
@@jurochka17 when I was 12 my school didn’t allow younger students to wear makeup.
Same here
16 year olds really don't need make up.
I really appreciate how you also explain which types of brushes to use for specific products bc that was always super confusing to me!! Thank you!
Eyelash curler and eyeliner are a must as well !
FOR SURE 💯 Also Powder On The Nose & Eyelids…
Without makeup: cute
With makeup: beautiful
So easy to do! The best video without thousands of steps and millions of costly products! THANK YOU, beautiful! ❤
Thank you for this with brand names etc. Thats where others are lacking
The elf fiber brow gel is much better than the NYX and also under $5 so cheaper as well!
This is the real simple make up❤. Thank god i found your video❤❤❤❤

I finally understand how to do it thanks to your simple advice, I am really bad at makeup but thanks to you I improved it!
As someone with thick brows brushing them up would make me look crazy so I skip those in my routine 🥲
You are the BEST jess .i love you so much ❤❤
I love you 🥺🫶🏼
The problem is that my skin is extremely dry.
Try elf power grip primer. If I have dry flaky areas it always makes it go away
Have you tried using a wet sponge to apply it instead of a brush? Seems to help me look less dry and less cakey
I use powder bur pat it and I have very dry skin
lol dry skin people can use powder
get a a stick foundation and a concealer brush, apply to the areas that you wanna conceal, then just get a brightening concealer w a lighter or sheer formula to go on top
Hypothyroidism or being estrogen dominant could be causing that. Or high androgens. Look up Dr. Ray Peat.
this has been my whole makeup routine, with the additional liquid eyeliner and curling my lashes before mascara.. you can never go wrong with this, simple yet put together! love it!
Cushion foundation is a great way to start on base makeup
I agree on all except that particular mascara! Iv been doing mascara my whole life and almost poked my eye out using that mascara wand 😂😂
I love this even for summer like minimal makeup that’s go to and light enough for the heat of you go out or to dinner
Thank you 😊
OMG I am not a beginner.
She actually has! She made a very simple lash application tutorial.
I’ll also add that there are lashes that have larger bands and, when I first started, I found those easier to work with. Using the lash applicator tweezer with them was really helpful too
So pretty for the beginners ✨
I like the idea of the tinted brow mascara 😊
Can you do eye makeup for college students? (natural)

Can you also tell how to pick up the concealer according to the skin shade ?
You just match it to your skin color?
Bushy browed people aside, you do not "have" to address the brows.

Beautiful simple natural look 💕🤩
When i did it only made my brows feel stiff and weird.
same exactly here. made me look shocked and crusty lol
How do you trim yours?
@@Snailmail1 i use an eyebrow comb, swoop them up, then use little eyebrow scissors to cut the excess off
I just lightly use a pencil
I'm a makeup lover who stopped years ago because deprsssion, but I've been wanting to get back into it and it's been intimidating to figure out where to start from again. This is the perfect video to help me, thank you❤
Thank you!! I am a minimalist and don't like to go too heavy on makeup. This is an amazing look. I may try it.
What blush is that brand & color ?
I'm not big on setting, but I have been noticing that after I let my tinted moisturizer sit at least 10 minutes and put powder blush on, a few minutes the blush seems to disappear. Do you suggest at least powdering where I will put my blush? Love your tips btw
Sounds like you need a different blush. Maybe a more pigmented one.
@@MsWOCReader really?! I thought Milani blushes were supposed to be good? Okay, I have many other ones, but am too lazy to open a new one 😂 guess I gotta do it then 😂 thank you for your help.
Also a victim of disappearing blush 😅
Thanks!
Amazing simple tutorial and so easy to follow.
Beginner af here 👶🏽
Wondering how essential brows gel is in general? I have really thick brows and im afraid if i do anything to them i might look like a cartoon. Idk how to explain 😭 does that make sense? Any tips would be helpful
if you have thick eyebrows naturally you can use a clear browgel to just set them in place without emphasising them
Not as much for you
I have fluffy brows and I just like to use a clear brow gel to set them in place
I have lot of wrinkles under my eye. concealer or corrector creases a lot . Pls suggest some techniques for it.
I've seen some videos with tips for creasing under the eyes. I think these were the tips, but sorry if this is off at all!
* make sure area is moisturized
* use a primer
* make sure the primer is smooth before you put on the product
* only add a bit to the inner and out corners of your undereye (if you put too much concealer, it'll crease more)
* make sure the concealer is smooth before setting it with powder (a powder pad or sponge might be better for this)
I hope any of that helps! 😅
A thousands of videos from other vloggers, and this, this right here is all I need. Thank youuuuuuu.
very pretty, natural makeup. this is my go to for everyday
Can I use only a colour corrector instead of a concealer? Concealer makes me look cakey.
I have a lot of PIE and PIH around my mouth
won't that leave your face coloured😭
@@shreyasrivastava4833 I thought colour corrector neutralises uneven skin colours😶
No no. But still the color corrector's colors are gonna be visible. You need to top it off with a concealer but if you don't like it, just go for a light weight hydrating foundation
Actually u should also use eyelash curler and mascara just a little bit it will look very natural and not spider legs

Tysmmm girl all these beginner makeup videos always look so hard. As a med intern i don't have enough time to do all that 😭 just something that's easy and quick so thanks for this
What about having thicker eyebrows for beginners makeup does makeup stick to eyebrows
Get your eyebrows threaded and use eyebrow pencil if there are sparse areas in front or end
Your makeup tips are always so good that now I trust you blindly. Please try doing Latina makeup. It will suit you.
I do my makeup like this every day. So simple and beautiful.
❤Amazing beginner tips I will definitely will use. I would recommend beginners to just go to a professional for the eyebrows because it’s just easier when your already brows are done and all you have to do is brush them. 😊And beautiful makeup as well.
For concealer is it reccomended to get ur skin shade or 1-2 shades lighter? Esp if i use it like a substitute foundation like you use in this short
Get your skin shade! It's only recommended to buy lighter if you intend to use the concealer underneath the eyes to brighten. If you use it all over your face, it should match so you don't look washed out.
