►About the Game -
Liminal Gallery is a small experimental project with unusual mechanics, with which you can turn pictures into reality. Explore the different rooms in the gallery looking for the door to the next level. The game is short and takes 10-15 minutes.
Developer note:
The idea of the game mechanics is taken from the game Viewfinder, if you have not played it, then I recommend checking it out. This project was originally created as an experiment, I wanted to repeat this unusual mechanic and naturally wanted to share it. Another important note is that the game may be unstable on some devices and bugs may occur, if this happened then sorry for that

Hi, CJU! I'm a relatively new viewer and I've been binging a lot of your videos lately. I happened to come across your "Midnight Shift" walkthrough first and went from there. You have a very relaxing vibe that most other modern Lets Players don't have and you don't resort to ridiculous gimmicks, thumbnails, clickbait, or any other typical nonsense you see on CZcams these days. You have a very genuine attitude and I greatly appreciate that. I watch your videos to wind down, especially right before I go to sleep, as it gives a very "cozy" vibe that I can't quite describe with words. Keep up the amazing work and stick with this formula because it's hard to find it elsewhere!

This reminds me so much of Superliminal, which was an absolutely phenomenal game. The fact that it added some horror elements later into the levels just adds to the comparison. I just wish these games were longer, because they're such a joy to play.

This whole experience was worth it just to end up free falling on to the Moon at the end. I enjoyed that. Very creative. Props to Ken Forest and well done Chris.

It is a pretty nice experimental game. Its a shame that the game did do anything that we haven't already seen in Viewfinder, but really I think its clear the dev's main experiment is not trying something new with the mechanic, but rather seeing if they can recreate the mechanic. Which they clearly did a really good job with.
It was like Viewfinder but had a different theme of maybe slight horror.
21:26 The falling to the moon was cool.
I prefer the relaxation and colorfulness of Viewfinder.

It reminded me of another game called "Superliminal", which is based on forced perspective and optical illusions. It is quite fun!
Best thing about watching your playthroughs is your enthusiasm. It is always a joy to listen even if I would happen not to look at the screen. The game itself was an absolute delight. It was clever and atmospheric. I think it was perfect in the way it was as a "short game". Being a longer game it might need a clear plot and as you said, some element of danger. Then again, best games do the danger with only atmosphere. A++!

The game mechanic of lining things up to match the image in order to progress is something I haven't seen since Gorogoa, and that was an amazing, revolutionary, one-of-a-kind game.
As a programmer I don't even want to begin to think about how to achieve something like this.

Wow. This is fun puzzle game. I wasn't disappointed even though I wish CJU was being chased by a monster while creating your own path.
I wouldn't call this a horror game, exactly, but it was so imaginative and evocative that it worked well. I think that having the shaded figure chase you, or having hints that the spider is still after you, would really make this a great horror game. Imagine the situation where you know you have to bring the spider or a horror to life, but also need to do so to get to escape or progress. You could build up some serious horror that way. As a first draft/test of mechanics this was great. As horror, it needs a little more.
In any case, thanks for sharing this with us, and expressing just as much awe at the changes as we feel.
Ken seriously amazing game and concept .. even down to the banana texture having bruises and not just a yellow texture .. things like that really showed your attention to detail
Should have tried taking photos of the film roll to see if you could have unlimited.

Even from a mechanical standpoint, I think this game would be impressive; having it overlay rooms on top of rooms, the camera generating essentially custom ones... I don't imagine it would be easy, at all.
Would be so cool if a full horror game was made with this concept of using photos to navigate reality. Imagine a chase sequence that would force you to create your escape using pieces of the environment.

The way this plays with perspectives reminds me a lot of Superliminal, not a horror game but has horror elements (and one specifically horror level) and one of my favourite games

@CJUGames I had a view finder as a kid and I loved it. Had the scariest 3 Billie Goats Gruff on one of it's reels, think that's where my first taste of liking horror came from. Man that thing was cool the graphics were intense.
Love the new backdrop - very minimalistic. However, I will miss the sparkly unicorn dressing gown. It really brought out the color in your eyes. Hehehehehehe.

By far one of the most creative games you have played! I kept rewinding to see how they were doing this effect and im at a loss for words its like a combo of M.C Escher and Salvador Dalí on a digital platform. Though it was short it was very fulfilling and satisfying. Cant wait for the next video!! 🫠
At first i thought this game would be so and so but it turned out to be interesting and not boring at all. It wasn't very long but it still did it great. I wouldn't mind seeing you playing another game like this in the near future.
For some of us , the horror part started even before the spider , big banana drop , & shadow person jump scares. Just about any liminal space can be comforting but a bit creepy at the same...I like being alone but even if the environment looks cool , unfamiliar territory for a person who gets lost easily can be frightening... and then there's the "but what if I'm not really alone?" , feeling of being watched / followed or what if you're ready to leave but can't for some reason... ( like what if you're excited at 1st because you're some place you've never seen or been to before , but once yoy're done wandering around and want to leave....the doors are locked. The lights turn off...or you just don't know how to get back home....and suddenly it seems like the environment it self is working against you , won't let you leave & there's no one around to help you or alternatively there is some one or some thing but they're toying with you or hostile , there's creepy things going on , etc. ) Also , odd angles & other things can be scary for some people like a roller coaster ride may not be some one's idea of "fun". ( Apologies for any and all typos & the long post )

This reminds me so much of all the shrines in Tears of the Kingdom where there's probably 1 or 2 intended ways to clear a puzzle but the way you do it probably isn't one of em haha
